A Profound Analysis of the Huge Potential the Switch Has

I don't think people understand how much potential the Switch has. First let's analyse Nintendo's First Parties:

Monolith Soft is currently working on the sequence to one of the most aclaimmed JRPGs of last generation, and it's looking fantastic so far. That's not all, considering the Switch will have a lifespan of 5~6 years, they'll probably be working on another RPG project in the future.

The Mario Kart team is working on Arms right now and they'll release this month Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. What does it mean? That they won't need to bother doing another Mario Kart, so after Arms I think we should be expecting an entirely new IP from them, or perhaps an old one like F-Zero.

The Zelda team is working on the DLC and after that they'll probably work on the next Zelda and considering they already have the engine of BotW, it's probably going to be faster to be released. And Nintendo asked Aonuma to work on a new IP, he said he wanted to do a game about thiefs, so perhaps we also should expect something from him.

The Mario team is working on Odyssey, so they'll have the entire generation to do the next Mario or work on a new IP.

Splatoon team is probably going to make a new Animal Crossing after Splatoon 2.

Game Freak is probably going to release 2 or 3 Pokemons on Switch.

Intelligent Systems is also probably going to release 2 Fire Emblems on Switch.

And we should not forget games like Kirby, Smash Brothers, Sakurai's new game etc.

Now for third parties we can expect the next Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest XI and other JRPGs from Square, Story of Seasons, Atlus' JRPGs, Level 5's JRPGs and lots of other japanese developers.

The Switch has a huge potential to be the best Nintendo console since the Super Nintendo.

i'm looking forward to Splatoon 2 and Rime the most

Normies don't care about splatoon or fire emblem.

They just want pokemon

Nobody thinks xcx is acclaimed. Shit combat, Shit controls, and Shit music at the least

I was talking about the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

It has potential, but it needs an upgrade that will fix it problems + improve battery life and performance. Knowing Nintendo they will release an updated Switch version anyway.

I'm no fanboy and own several consoles, IMO PS4 won this generation due the sheer amounts of exclusives coming out in the last months, HOWEVER, Nintendo seems to have a bright future and I hope they can deliever, the Switch really is a freaking good idea, if they would add an Internet Browser, apps like Netflix, Amazon Instand Video or Twitch.tv this thing would be perfect. Maybe Homebrews will fix that.

> The Switch has a huge potential to be the best Nintendo console since the Super Nintendo.
I know BOTW was good and SMO is turning out to be good, but why are Switch fans so delusional about their console being this 50M+ bestseller when Nintendo has never re-attained the same success of third parties since the SNES or the success of non-gamers since the Wii. Especially when the library (including upcoming releases) is mostly ports, sequels, and an off-brand fighting game.

> but Mario and Zelda
The N64 had a FANTASTIC Mario game and TWO great Zelda titles, but the N64 was just not a winner.

They only need to transition their first and third-party handheld exclusives to the Switch and it'll sell. Mainline Pokémon is seriously all it will take to make the system successful.

It will have a lot of support from japanese Third Parties, the western devs are the ones that will be reluctant to support it.

My analysis was solely on the software line up, wich is shaping up to be fucking incredible.

Shit combat, shit controls still apply, also, shit story.

all nintendo consoles have amazing potential, but they squander the fuck out of it because nintendo enjoys barely existing.

Potential doesn't mean shit when it comes to videogames. I learned that with minecraft.

It's a fucking tablet with a Tegra X1 in it (the shit that is in Nvidia shield and even some TVs nowadays) and has a dock with a fucking HDMI port.

Know what the "next step BIG REVOLUTION" is? Being able to directly connect it to a TV without a plastic dock, which portable devices have been able to do for the past half decade if not longer.
Heck, even the fucking PSP had cheap cables to directly connect it to a TV, I remember playing MHFU this way at home.

Stop being so autistic over it jesus christ. I couldn't even be bothered to read your post because I just KNOW you can't possibly have anything constructive to add, just fanboy-talk.

And yet Atlus just this week announced 3 new titles.... for the 3DS.
What you're saying is complete conjecture. There have been no signs of "massive" japanese support whatsoever.

its a shit console, just imagine this, in 2020 people will still be playing with the switch, and it already is an outdated and underpowered console.

Only one of those is new while the other two are remakes of DS games. On the other hand, they've announced the next main Shin Megami Tensei on Switch.

When No More Heroes 3 comes out, then i'll buy it.

>considering they already have the engine of BotW
They won't be using the BotW engine. The BotW engine is optimized for the Wii U, not for the Switch architecture. They'll probably make another engine for the Switch, unless they're just releasing a sequel to BotW or something, like MM.

No, they announced an HD game for the switch. They never said it would be a main title, it could still be a spinoff.
Plus they refuse to just out and say it's exclusive to the switch which make me think it's a multiplat anyway.

Oh so now remakes and remasters don't count? Well you better scratch literally half of Switch's 1st and 3rd party libraries then. MK8, Sm4sh, Pokemon Stars, Skyrim, etc etc don't count then. We all know you people will re-buy those games though

>On the other hand, they've announced the next main Shin Megami Tensei on Switch.
Yes, but that's still one title that just begun production and will come out at BEST in 2020, but probably in 2021-22. We all know how quick Atlus is with their major homeconsole projects.
Oh and of course, I hope I don't need to point this out, but the new SMT won't be a Switch exclusive.

Third party support takes time, user. At most, it's been a year since the first devs got their devkits. A year isn't enough time to make a game these days.

There'll be more info at E3 or at a direct closer to christmas.

>if they would add an Internet Browser, apps like Netflix, Amazon Instand Video or Twitch.tv this thing would be perfect. Maybe Homebrews will fix that.

Homebrews "won't fix" that since Nintendo is already planning to bring them.

> but Pokémon
No doubt it will make the sales go up, but looking at the sales of the original DS (154M) and the 3DS (65M), that's not a given.

The Switch has a huge potential to be the best Nintendo console since the Famicom.

>Third party support takes time, user.
Does it now? AFAIK PS4 and XBone had all major 3rd party support from day1.
Yes they were cross-gen titles like Assassin's Creed Black flag and whatnot, but they always got the current titles. The devs didn't wait years to ask "wait a minute... should we not port the next Battlefield to PS4 and Xbone? Is it too early still?"

Switch from Ubisoft isn't getting For Honor, despite the game launching at around the same time and would be an obvious inclusion if the cnsole actually had 3rd party support. Instead Switch gets Rayman (again) which is 3 or 4 years old at this point.

From Bethesda instead of getting their current 2017 games, like Prey or any other projects they publish this year form other houses, it gets Skyrim. A game that is 6 years old by the time it comes out on Switch.

Even if we consider trashy AA japanese titles made for everything. Why isn't Toukiden2 on the Switch? That thing is everywhere but MS consoles, even the Vita I'm sure.
Developers simply don't give a shit. That or nitnendo was once again completely incompetent and didn't send dev kits a year prior to every non-indie dev, something that would've cost them barely anything and is standard practice for Sony (or MS if they had a foothold on japan)

>There'll be more info at E3 or at a direct closer to christmas.
yeah yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you.

Please for the love of fuck, GIVE ME ANIMAL CROSSING

Same applies, also that was two gens ago.

Why can Nintendo never make any powerful consoles? Don't get me wrong, I think Nintendo games are the shit. However, Nintendos hardware is fucking SHIT compared to the competition. Pc is a given, but a new console should IMO be more advanced than the other consoles already on the market. Why is Nintendo so shit at catching up with technology?

by the time the Switch has accrued a worthwhile enough library of games, that one killer app that VR needs will have been released and it will be better to just buy a HMD

buying a 3DS is better investment than a Switch, play all the DS games and the 3DS library which is really really great, and it is THE LAST CHANCE to get into Animal crossing, right now if you want that.

because having to pay for online just for the privilege of visiting other peoples towns, that is not fun, New Leaf is the send off title of the AC series.

3DS, WiiU is a better investment of your money than a Switch, both long and short term

Because we don't want a third Xbox mid range pc with a brand stamped on it. I'f rather have a PC and something different to compliment.

Nintendo makes their money from the games they make, Sony and Microsoft just ride the royalty fees into the sunset.

Why spend 100 million dollarydoos developing and marketing Horizon when you can make Yoshi's Woolly World on whatever change Iwata had in his pocket and sell half as many copies?

please shut up, both consoles had years before they started getting good stuff

The Switch is a really powerful handheld.

they know they dont need to compete in that area, as long as fuckers are willing to drop 400 dollars to play any of their new IPs they will be comfortable releasing cheap gimmicky hardware.

All generation people have been complaining that consoles are just low powered repurposed PCs, nintendo listened

Nintendoshill thread #7
>inb4 """" we're not shills!!!!"""" yes you are.

>component cable
Damn, the psp was really behind its time when it came out.

dude calm your autism lel.

It may be powerful as a handheld, but as a console itself it seems just marginally more powerful than the wiiu

No they didn't. They got current games instantly, from day one. Never a dry month.
We are talking about 3rd party support here buddy, not exclusives.

Ironically it has more functionality than the Switch right now.

Sure, but it's a handheld you can plug into the TV. Nintendo made this choice instead of releasing two systems and I think time will prove them right.

too bad the phone in my pocket has more processing power and better graphics, get rek'd ninten yearolds

What consoles are you talking about? The ps4 that literally had not a single game for 1,5 years? The Xbox that has no games xcept for Netflix to this day?

It will get twice as many games as the Wii U and arguably the 3DS. Since all dev will be focused on one platform.

I've never considered consoles to be powerhouses anyways.

What the fuck even happened to Rime? Sony showed it off once and used it a few times again for sizzle reels in later PS4 conferences, and we haven't seen shit since

A handheld with twice the power of a Wii U is impressive.

And it is a handheld. You can play in just handheld mode. You cant play with just the dock.

The 3ds is 240p and was dated tech when it launched 6 years ago and it still is getting games better than anything a phone will ever have. Lmao at your life

Rime is now a multiplatform game coming to the PS4, PC, Xbone, and Switch. It looks better now, just look on jewtube.

so now you have a repurposed tablet you brain damaged autist

> le ps4 doesn't have games
> there I said it again mom

>He thinks Nintendo aren't going to announce a new handheld soon with its own library

Lol. It's gonna be hilarious when this happens.

List 3 ps4 games with a score higher than 95.

>this is what delusional nintedroines that have buyers remorse and wish for better games actually believe
HAHAHAHA this is too funny fucking retards

it has the most advanced mobile gpu on the market (X2 won't be available to consumers until next year) to make the best portable console to date.

And I still have a PC that blows the PS4 pro and Xbone out of the water. enjoy!

it barely lasts for more than 2 hours in handled.

> but you can buy a power bank
dont you see anything wrong with having to buy yet another piece of hardware to play games ?

I guess you dont

>Nintendo of America has deposited $8.50 into your account.

dude I never even heard of that shit for at least 6 years, it must not be doing that well lmfao

> paying attention to scores

oh boy now we know why nintendo pays reviewers

>it barely lasts for more than 2 hours in handled.

why lie? 2.5-6 hours, depending on the game.

then why did they fuck up and release it with no games?

I wasn't completely ruling the possibility of that out until a few days ago when Game Freak posted job offers to work on what the description clearly made out to be an HD mainline Pokémon game. There will be no different handheld if Pokémon moves to the Switch.

no you don't, your PC doesn't even do 4k

Welcome to current batteries, user. Play any tablet or phone game as graphically intensive as Zelda, it wont last very long either. We've seen inside the switch, almost a third of the shell is taken up by the battery. Until we get a breakthrough in battery tech, shit ain't going to change.

You must be retarded because It's been doing 4k since before the PS4 Pro released.

>> Nintendo game gets a good score
> payed reviews out the ass, nintenbros BTFO

>> Sony game gets a good score
> SONY WINS AGAIN, XBOTS AND TODDLERS CRUSHED

one of the reasons I hate playing my 3ds is the low resolution, its sad really to make great games for such a shitty resolution.

doubt it

>the Huge Potential the Switch Has

eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-custom-tegra-processor-inside-switch-outed-as-standard-tegra-x1

You can doubt all you want! you are welcome to it. Meanwhile the PS4 Pro doesn't even come close to my GPU.

It's nice you finally got 4k though.

>lying to strangers on the internet

everyone upboat this guy

this is what happens if your favourite MUH NINTENDO company shits out a half-baked Nvidia tablet and gives their fandrone base only one game for MONTHS and MONTHS to come out because they rushed things YET AGAIN; they go delusional and start to daydream of what if scenarios.

>y-you l-lie

this is what pathetic sonybros have to resort to. TOP KEK

people don't care about games anymore, just processing power

Yeah that's cool, I'll ocnsider it when it's actually there.

The PS4elite don't have to give any shits about your dumb lies, they have actual games to play

See you act E3 ;) Sony is going to be Yakuza'd

It's not hard to have a better GPU than an underclocked RX480.

>Normies don't care about fire emblem
normies literally saved fire emblem

Worked for the PS4.

I could be wrong but I seriously doubt the switch will sell anywhere close to 50mil.

I think 20-25mil is more realistic. And that's not me bashing the console, it's just the reality of how much the industry has shifted over the past 10 years and how many other things we have competing for our attention these days.

20-25mil units would be a very respectable number.

I seriously expect more than 50 mil. lifetime.

>Forgetting Retro
>Forgetting Next Level Games
>Forgetting Alpha-Dream
>Forgetting Good-Feel
>Forgetting HAL
>Forgetting Camelot
>Forgetting the WarioWare team
>Forgetting the NSMB team
>Forgetting Tecmo as a third party when they give us Fatal Frame

All the handheld only Nintendo first parties will now be on Switch.

Do you have this image for people who arent ants?

I have two PS4's by the way. It's still pretty shit.

They literally cannot upgrade the switch at the same price point until mobile and battery tech progress further and become mass producible. For mobile chipsets that's possible, for batteries a breakthrough for storage hasn't occurred in over a decade.

Knack is the greatest game of this generation. Nice try though.

3DS has done 65 million. As long as they can make that audience carry over, 50 should be no problem. I'm not sure how much of the 3DS's audience was casual games, but I would think most of them already left to smartphones between the DS and 3DS, so I doubt the sales of the Switch will be much lower than that if it does capture the 3DS's audience.

*casual gamers

A number of different reasons such as releasing it in the 1st quarter boosts their finacial statement to shareholders and investors.

It also has the strategic benefit of giving the console a 'soft launch', where hardcore fans will snap the console up, allow Nintendo breathing space to judge reaction before ramping up for a full blown 'launch' this Christmas.

Not to mention that they have purposefully spaced out their 1st party releases this year to avoid the impression of a drought - there will always be a Nintendo game to look forward to just aroundthe corner.

Nintendo have done mostly everything right so far, except for a few silly things.

Damn toddlers are delusional as fuck. It's been less than a month and the public has already forgotten about it.

>there will always be a Nintendo game to look forward to just aroundthe corner.
Yes, buy one Nintendo game, beat it after a week, then wait four months for the next Nintendo game, that might very well be shit, and then wait an additional five months for the next.

Do Nintendo fanboys unironically live that sad life?

It will sell 20 million+ in Japan alone if it gets Monster Hunter, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing, which are pretty safe bets.

What makes you say that, even in a despicable shit hole like /v, there's threads everyday day from anons desperately wanting to buy one but it's sold out most places.

You tell me, you must be used to it by now ;)

Now that 3ds and wii u devs are working on one platform this will be a non-issue going forward for first party tittles.

Dude theres a major 1st party game almost every month and we have no idea what will be unveiled at E3.

Seems like you're just part of the bizarre Nintendo hate wagon here on /v. Why's that user?

Not just the console, I've spent since the week before launch trying to find the official carry case. It spent over a full month out of stock everywhere, and isn't going to be back in stock until the end of May. I managed to just find ONE in a store 3 towns over.

Nobody talks about it on actual social media. Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and so on. All completely dead.

>Quake Champions coming to PS4
No sweetie. It's a PC exclusive.

>Listing Hamster
All that shit is on Switch or will be.

>the vast majorit of these games are multiplats with stronger PC versions
Proving PC + Nintendo is not a bad cost-to-benefit ratio proposition.

I actually saw a few of them today. I live in Britain. You could always try importing.

>Potential
that's the keyword.

the WiiU had "potential" too
