Characters who shouldn't have survived the game they were in

Pic very related

>have gman, an interdimentional god-like being. protecting and guiding you
>shouldn't have survived

Gordon Freeman is the biggest mary sue in all of gaming. Prove me wrong.

>protecting and guiding you

Stalking you and never interacting with you until the end of the game to tell you you've surpassed his expectations doesn't sound like protection and guidance. G-Man did help out Shepard a couple of times, though.

>I remember fighting an elder god, i won, because im that good, then some lights flash, the cia spook made a deal, now im here.

Freeman was always in control of the situation

G-Man would have saved Gordon if necessary since he's definitely essential to whatever he's scheming.

...

Then why do I have to reload a save when I die?

In half life 1? No gman was just observing to see if gordon was a good candidate for his "employers" in 2 yes he would have intervenede in any death scenario hell he does at the end

Obviously this is speculation but the g-man has shown powers of time manipulation so I'd guess he could have a part in reloading your "save"

You're right I hadn't considered that. I guess it was a combination of luck, ingenuity, and that arsenal of alien weapons he had.

It can be somewhat inferred that quickloads are representations of the G-Man's time-space-altering shenanigans. With all that talking about surviving impossible odds, he might as well say "You were fated to do this."

who do you think gave gordon the ability to save/load?

Nah dude, get your lore together. G-Man was watching Gordon go through the incident, and at the end of it he was like"Yo, you're good enough we want you on contract." G-Man kept him in stasis till he was useable again. HL2 someone paid the G-Man to have Gordon attack the Combine.

The series was basically a cross between men in black and Die Hard.

Gordon is the player, thats literally what supposed to be so special about him.

will we ever get half life 2 episode 3?

G man is the one who revives you when you die ingame

Im sure if Gordon would have died during the course of half life one he would have looked for a backup aka adrian shepard

I don't think I'd ever stop laughing if after all these years rather than HL3 we really did just get another 2-3 hour episode.

That's what I was thinking. I'm assuming the only reason Gordon's the main character at all is because he was lucky enough to be one of the survivors.

Guys, this is not Undertale.

Yeah all the meta shit actually has subtlety.

99% of video game characters

Actually, I think Shepard was G-Man and his employers' first option; that's why he bothered to save Shepard. Gordon however managed to survive ground zero and tear his way through Black Mesa without any outside influence, so G-Man decided to keen an eye on him to see how far he'd get. And he ended up killing Nihilanth.

He's just an autist in power armor who shoots stuff.

Gordon survived because he absolutely needs to finish the MOVIE

In other words, a self-insert.

_ ____ __ ____ ___ _____!

No, the only way anyone can play Half-Life is as a cold-blooded socially inept nerd who finally got the opportunity to kill some motherfuckers.

No more than any other "everyman who turns into a supersoldier when shit goes down" protagonist in vidya, the only difference is that people in HL actually react to him mowing down entire armies.

>the cia spook made a deal
More like "threatened to teleport me in front of an entire army whose friends I slaughtered if I didn't agree to be his fuckslave."

I mean, Gabe did say there'd be THREE episodes.
Half-Life 3 isn't coming before Half-Life 2: Episode 3 does.
