Is EoSD your favorite because it was your first?

I found MoF and SA to be much better overall to EoSD.

EoSD has a special place in my heart because it was the first touhou game I 1cc'd on Lunatic.
Also I enjoy the setting and cast a lot more than the other touhou games, which tend to be more naturalistic. As you can see from the rest of my 3x3, I really like gothic.

Also 3/3 (battlefield, new vegas, tetris)

I love Yakuza 0. Tho Ive been a fan of the series since the first one for PS2. This one is the best yet in the franchise. Great story and fun, stylish combat. Sidequests are hilarious.

Also I love Automata too tho I have to replay it before I can put it on my favorite list. Itd probably take Xenogears spot

I guess that's true, I do like the cast of EoSD overall more than any other, but others have characters I like more individually (Utsuho, Rin, Kanako, Suwako, etc)

It's funny how Xenogears and Nier are both series with some of the best storytelling in vidya, but both had to get jewed out by Square Enix since they were released around the same time as final fantasy games (ffviii and ffxv)

Though I'd say automata gets better the longer you play it, while unfortunately xenogears disc 2 remains one of it's detractors.

I feel EoSD's main strength is that the cast has really good chemistry. Individually, I find characters like Remillia and Flandre to be a bit overrated, but the way the whole mansion plays off each other feels really strong.

Also excellent taste in 2hus.

im not too sure if I should feel sad or happy that there will never be anymore Xenogears.

on one hand I really wanted to see the rest of the story.

on the other hand its probably good that Square wont touch it ever again.

I don't even think they're bad games. I have more fun playing Kane & Lynch than almost anything else. I would have paid eighty bucks on release. No problem.

Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metroid Prime. FFX had amazing graphics and an awe inspiring intro, but I don't like JRPGs. Gave it a fair shot. Sons of Liberty was a 9/10 till Raiden showed up, and then it was unplayable. Metroid Prime is quality, but I didn't enjoy it.

Once I beat Darksiders II, it's probably going on the list. Other games I love include Darkwatch, GoldenEye 007, and StarCraft: Brood War. Pokémon Red was my life when I was eight or nine.

I honestly liked the bosses in the first one more, reminded a lot of Zelda bosses in a good way.
The ones in Automata ranged from absolute garbage to ones like Hegel (the centipede thing you fight in the desert as A2) and then the humanoid bosses were hilariously exploitable by getting up close to them and just mashing dodge to trigger counters.
If they could make NieR's combat feel as fluid as Automata's then it would probably be my favorite game of all time, also unlocking the boat travel option sooner too would be nice. Taro said that if they get the money that they'll remaster Nier and Drakengard. Here's to hoping.

Nier's combat is definitely not top-tier, but I really don't mind. Like, Although I was happy when Platinum said to be working on Automata, It wasn't something really necessary in my opinion. I don't play Nier because of the combat and combat wasn't the reason I enjoyed any Taro Yoko game. I enjoyed them because of their weird nature, unconventional storytelling, God-tier OST and subversion of common video game tropes and themes.

Platinum gameplay may make the experience smoother, or something like that, but isn't a major difference to me since I already played several games with this sort of action, Devil may cry like combat, but I can only play Taro Yoko games by playing Taro yoko games.

Why is it always people who don't rate others have the worst taste in games?

I agree with pretty much all of what you're saying, though I didn't find any of Automata's bosses bad enough to consider them absolute garbage.
Also was kind of disappointed that they toned down the shmup elements while simultaneously giving you infinite shoot-at-enemies-from-far-away power, allowing you to play like a bitch if you're patient enough.
The actual shmup segments in Automata desperately needed more variety as well.
Still, Automata is on my mosaic.

Although overrated, it's not like TLOU is trash or anything, its quality was simply blown out of proportion by shitty reviewers trying to justify their own job by claiming that vidya is acessible and also has mature stories for mature people such as themselves.

Absolute garbage is definitely hyperbole but that Hegel fight just was not fun in the slightest, I might have been underlevelled but the only way I could deal with the first half was just running around shooting at him. Just wasn't fun whereas all the bosses in the first Nier I found really fun even though the combat was kind of clunky.
I also think they were too liberal with the dodge in Automata, I don't recall you being able to spam it in Nier with quite the same effect as you were in Automata because the last segment of the Shadowlord fight is actually kind of tricky whereas in Automata there is no cool down on it.

Overall though Automata plays a lot better just by virtue of being incredibly fluid and responsive, something I can't quite give the first one. I really hope that at some point Taro and Platinum can go back and polish up his old games so more people can enjoy them though.

I think the dodge may be the way it is in Automata because of what Very Hard mode is. To some extent the game needs to be balanced around never taking a single hit being reasonably possible.

Ideally the difficulty levels would change the amount or type of enemies, make attacks come out faster or more frequently and deal a bit more damage... that sort of thing, but it's pretty much just damage, and taken to the extreme.

2/4 I think Super Metroid and Castelvania are still playable today. Not sure about the others.

How do you figure? The presentation and voice acting and shit are top notch, but beyond that all you have is a pretty generic and average TPS, a story and setting you've seen a million times, and walking segments with the same ladder and palette puzzles repeated over and over.

I liked Arcanum, Kirby 64, and SotC. Haven't played Star Control 2, but did not enjoy Warcraft III, Diddy Racing (impressive graphics but a boring game), KOTOR, and Ori didn't sit well with me.
