>two selected by fans for being edgelords and/or crazy sociopaths, nothing else
>one selected by pure luck
>no tinker knight to make fun as fuck inventions-based gameplay
>no propeller knight with expanded stages like the second DLC with emphasis on soaring through the air
>no polar knight forcing the devs to think outside the box and make stages centered around his massive size and strength

no. at least the devs were skilled enough to make plague knight interesting enough as a character. didn't play specter of torment yet, but chances are he also got some good level design to accompany his play style. I'm just miffed characters with more potential were shafted in favor of them

Propellor Knight almost won against King Knight, but King Knight had less people giving him a lower ranking.
I have no clue what they're going to do with King Knight's gameplay. He's just sort of a lame asshole.

>acts as the king of everything
>wants money and shiny things
>took over someone else's castle and claimed it for himself
>strong physique without being a mountain of muscles

I think I see where this might be going. and before you claim that treasure knight is more interest in gold and shit, he's just a massive hoarder. With that much cash he could have much more than a submarine falling apart

>even has a dash attack
Fuck, its Wario isnt it?

Wario Knight Land, ft shovel knight from the shovel knight kickstarter campaign

king knight is such a blank slate compared to all others it's pretty easy to go anywhere with his play style so I guess he was a good pick

I'm definitely curious how they're going to handle the main hub and side characters for King Knight. They nailed it with Plague Knight and Specter Knight, but it's hard to imagine King Knight as anything but on his own.

Good ideas were gonna get shafted no matter who got in, and Plague Knight and Specter Knight turned out great. That said, I kinda half wish that they opened voting AFTER the game came out. On one hand, Propeller Knight would have been a definite win, on the other, there's a chance that Plague and Specter WOULDN'T have gotten in.

Blank Slate? Maybe, I found him definately more exploding in personality than the other possible knights, just really lacking in backstory, I guess this will probably his "return to fame" arc, after being dethroned after the Shovel of Hope story. Maybe he gets some character development and stops being a prick or relishes in his avarice.
Who can say.

I'm definately more interested in where they go with him though as he was beaming with laughs.

Sure I can't really complain as long as each character is fun to play

Can't wait to play the Shovel Knight epilogue, King of Nothing

Funny enough I was actually talking to one of the Yacht Club devs at PAX and they told me that that gif is just old prototyping stuff at this point. The actual game might be nothing like that (they also haven't actually started on the campaign yet apparently)

The guy also told me that for Battle Mode they're gonna have Shovel Knight, Shield Knight, the enchantress, every boss knight, and a few others that they want to keep a secret. It's gonna be rad as fuck

I would've preferred Propeller Knight and Polar Knight but Specter Knight looks pretty hype so I don't mind.

I dont know how Plague knight can even be considered playable, what a fucking mess

TWO MORE DAYS

>they also haven't actually started on the campaign yet apparently
oh fuck me, I don't want to wait for more, give it to me now

Battle mode sounds fucking dope though, I wonder who those fighters they want to keep secret are.

How long did Specter Knight take to make? If they really haven't started on King Knight then I can't see it coming out this year.

I mean, from a story perspective, I'm kind of disappointed. Since they keep hinting at how Shield, Shovel, Black, and Polar Knight are all connected. And I feel like a lot of it will be shrouded in mystery.

On the other hand, Plague Knight was a blast (no pun intended) and I'm interested to see what they'll do with King Knight, since the change in pace with Specter was nice.

In my ideal timeline they'd all get their own playable storylines. Since they all seem fun.

Give it another shot. I caught onto it pretty quickly, and he ends up being easier than Shovel Knight since his moveset gives you a lot of opportunities to correct mistakes.

I mean I swear I read somewhere that they were planning on getting everything done this year, so I'm hoping that they've streamlined the process for making more campaigns or something

Another neat thing I learned was that when Jake Kaufman makes music for them he just goes crazy on his own for a couple weeks and sends the songs to Yacht Club. They have no idea what it's going to sound like until he sends it to them

Plague Knight controls fucking amazingly. Figure out how to use bomb throws along with saving the second jump for extra air control

I think tinker knight would have been a boring form of gameplay with too much emphasis on gadgets/tools which would boil down to "spam projectile". plague knight was a boring expansion that isn't worth the one playthrough you'll probably bother with.

spectre knight is super fun though, it changes the game enough that i'd honestly say it's worth buying just that over the pack.

not a fan of king knight but we'll see how it pans out.

I'd rather have had a black knight game, focusing on his enchantress enhanced form, but that probably would have been a shit platformer, so I guess they made the best choices they could.

Well, at the beginning his moveset is crap. When do you get the good stuff?

The first thing you want is the hover burst, which is one of the early abilities you can buy. Besides that, everything else you can get is either situational or down to preference. A lot of people use the float bombs but I prefer default.

His moveset it great by default. All you need is your bomb blast jump along with using bomb throws to slow yourself down for precise platforming, and you'll be flying around levels

>still haven't beaten shovel knight
>got to the tower and then got bored
maybe one day

How about today?

The tower levels are short, you could probably get through all three in 20 minutes or less.

>buy
I can't keep no cash
I just so a speedrun. Are you supposed to literally fly like that?

Also, i wish i could jump with A instead of B, i am much more used to that

i have to get up for work at 5:30 and it's almost 11
it just feels like a chore playing it, i hate the water sequence, i just don't feel like going through it tonight

The guy in the video is using a special armor that lets you wall jump, so the game isn't entirely like that.
You do always have the ability to jump, double jump, and burst jump, which give you varying amount of height. Throwing bombs also lets you hover in place, which lets you correct jumps. You can use all of these in the span of one jump, so you can get some crazy distance.

I really dig some of the new remixes for Specter Knight, I just wish the official soundtrack was out so I wouldn't have to listen to low quality youtube rips.

>are you supposed to literally fly like that
Once you get the hang of the controls Plague of Shadows becomes "The Floor is Lava: Explosive Edition".

I didn't mean that video, but an actual speedrun from the beginning. The guy does the explosion jump almost consecutively

>Once you get the hang of the controls Plague of Shadows becomes "The Floor is Lava: Explosive Edition".

Alright, so that is what I was missing. Definitely going to give it another chance now, that sounds like fun

I actually didn't know you can do that, I have no clue how he's doing it. It might be that you can start charging you next bomb jump in midair.

>It might be that you can start charging you next bomb jump in midair.

Pretty sure that's correct

>ywn be this good or creative at a game
Maybe after I've made a good dent in the list of games I want to play I'll put in the time to get semi-decent at something

Yeah, I think you got to switch the button you're holding down or something.
