This is better than The Old Hunters.
This is better than The Old Hunters

Damn, these threads are so empty. Was it really THAT bad?
lol
A CORPSE SHOULD BE LEFT WELL ALONE!

All of the bosses are actually good, and all the gear is actually great, and we get a new pvp covenant (lol at BB's pathetic PVP)
None of the bosses are reskins (lol Laurence)
None of the bosses (Living Failures)
Only people who don't like this dlc, either haven't played it and are sonybros. Or just got rekt by Midir, angels, Ghost archers, and the dlc in general.
the big thread from much earlier today has been up for hours and still hasn't hit the bump limit
People just don't care about dark souls as much as they used to.
>covenant that doesn't work
>size of aoa with a boss rush at the end
>SWAMPS
>ancient dragon and shit old monk
>muh lore
>loreeater gael is the only good fight and he's ez
Ludwig shits on the whole dlc
Living Failures is preferable to worse old monk desu
It is pretty pathetic though that DS3 had an entire year for its DLCs, a great deal of the content from which was not made from scratch, and it only managed to put out one boss that got anywhere near TOH level
Why do people jack off ludwig so much? The actual fight is garbage, with absurd hitboxes, REEEEEEEEEEE, and a garbage second face. The soundtrack is great and the cutscene is too, but thats it.
Because it's a great boss fight and you have shit taste.
Ludwig is overrated and has a shit tier first phase and only becomes "memorable" once he gets his sword. No one actually thinks the fight is mechanically interesting. Hell The first boss in TRC is arguably better than Ludwig.
And Midir shits all over any "giant" boss monster (Amygdala, Ebrietas) in BB. Kind of sad that a game with giant lovecraftian bosses all mechanically suck and are btfo by a giant boss in a game that is known for having "humanoid knights" as its best bosses.
>He summoned for ludwig
t.pc cuck
>absurd hitboxes
watching lps doesn't count as playing the game
>No one actually thinks the fight is mechanically interesting. Hell The first boss in TRC is arguably better than Ludwig.
I have not come across a single person through hours upon hours of shitflinging about both games that has said either of these things seriously. I have a feeling that you aren't going to be the first either.
I am not saying that it isn't a good DLC. I'm saying it ain't better than TOH. Weapons aren't as interesting, bosses aren't as challenging (Laurence, Ludwig, OoK), neither are they as awe-inspiring (Lady Maria).
Difficulty is subjective, but I didn't find it as difficult as the Hunter's Nightmare, of the Fishing Village.
Angels were kool as fuck, tho.
>best ost in the series
>seamless transiton with music that SYNCS PERFECTLY
>you beat him so hard he remembers who he was
>the name change
>autistic screeching in p1 and grunts in p2
>the difficulty
Etc
What the FUCK was his problem?
>Midir
>Tanimura solves exactly one problem with giant dragon bosses that take up the entire screen
>People cling to this for dear life when people shit on it for the other things they failed to fix
>wreck him my first playthrough
>get wrecked my second
>Weapons aren't as interesting
I was so fucking excited for those twin greatswords, but sure enough the moveset was lacking. That was the one point in the whole DLC where I was as rock hard as I was for any point in Old Hunters too.
>lol at BB's pathetic PVP
>implying DaSIII's was any better
>And Midir shits all over any "giant" boss monster (Amygdala, Ebrietas) in BB
No, Midir's AI/scripting is almost exactly Amygdala's. I realize you haven't played BB, but go watch someone fight Amygdala in a cursed chalice. One shot laser? Safer to face tank? Spooges? Hops around? Weak to facials? Yes to all.
Despite all of that, Amygdala is the better encounter. You don't just copy and paste Amygdala's AI onto a dragon with more HP. It's retarded and lazy.
If you seriously think Amygdala is better than Midir, then you are a retarded BB baby. Even most BB fanboys will admit Midir is better than Amygdala. The only thing Midir has in common is the laser. Tons of bosses throughout the entire soulsborne franchise have shared movesets.
It's very good, but TOH is still the best DLC they've done.
TRC is the second best gameplay-wise, and AoTA is the best lore-wise. TRC's lore is good too though.
Nope.
It's good but Old Hunters was great. Ringed City's best moments don't come close to Ludwig, Maria, or Orphan of Kos.
Old Hunters also serves to both provide backstory and answer questions way more efficiently than Ringed City.
Ringed City is good, quite better than Ashes of Ariandel and on par with the Lost Crowns Trilogy when they were at their best, but Old Hunters was basically perfect.
Old Hunters was far from from perfect.
The Hunter's Nightmare was so fucking boring and reused so many enemies from the base game.
Research hall only introduces one type of enemy.
Fishing hamlet is filled with trash mobs. Only challenging enemy are the shark guys.
>dodging right
>Old Hunters felt like an actual expac
>Old Hunters added a good number of new weapons
>Old Hunters had a handful of new bosses that actually were fun to fight and didn't rely on overbuffed defenses and maxed resistances
>Ringed City brought back the one boss that killed Demons Souls online community and made it worse
>Ringed City added in a handful of meme weapons to shit on the "meta" even worse
>Ringed City gives you +3 rings on the NG cycle, specifically 2 that are integral to pvp, the Steel Protection and Chloranthy
>Ringed City relies on the DS2 meme of HP packed enemies with shittons of damage on hit
I'm glad the fucking souls series is dead, Ringed City just proves that Miyazaki fucking hated doing DS3 and had more fun with Bloodborne and it's setting.
TOH salvaged BB though. It brought variety for the weapons and the great bosses the vanilla game lacked. Vanilla BB was really lackluster.
Also it's funny how you talk about the weapons for BB but not about its meta.
Idk how you can say that desu.
Look at the levels of this DLC. The first area has almost endlessly respawning mob enemies, you're incentivised to just run through it instead of engaging in combat because you can't actually clear the fucking areas. Not only that but those enemies just aren't fun to fight. The only reason they're a threat in the first place is because there's 20 of them at once.
Then, Earthen Peak ruins is basically just Old Yharnam with the turret, except 100% of the area is just that. Again, not incentivised to stop, look and take in your surroundings, instead you're forced to constantly be on the move until you find the angels and kill them at which point you can start exploring
Is this really good? I don't think so.
As for the bosses, they're great except for Halflight. But i guess that's just souls tradition at this point.
The second area starts out strong after the first giant, but quickly turns into just a massive, stupid swamp, but at least this time it's not poisonous.
I don't know man. The levels in this DLC are overall just shit tbqh
BB was still a fucking fantastic 9/10 game before DLC. TOH just made it a 10
All of the bosses are actually shit and none of them are particularly original.
You've got Gargoyles/O&S, Old Monk 3.0 Gankspank Edition, Kalameet 2: Kalameet Harder, and Literally Not-Artorias.
TOH>=TRC>AOTA>>the rest
How can you talk about originality when Laurence is literally Laurence is a literal reskin.
And living failures is a godawful boss, worse than any TRC bosses.
Kalameet 2 is better than any giant monster boss in BB so that point is moot.
Also Demon Prince is a better fight than O&S (overrated) and Gargoyles anyway.
To the guys with PC's, you know you can buy a PS4 for cheap right? The world won't end, Sony won't "win" and destroy every other system somehow. The amount of energy spent bitching about Bloodborne, geez just go get a ps4 and play it.
>every SINGLE person I summon for the dragon fight dies within 5 minutes
>the NPC summon lasted for the entire fight
Really makes you think.
>summoning
>calling other people shit
Dumb little cunt.
The Spear of the Church fight is actually so trash, it blows my mind they didn't even bother to change the FUCKING COLOR OF THE PHANTOM
>hurr only pros don't summon
Oh I see, that gives the people who are summoned and perform horribly the excuse to do so. It was my fault for summoning them. Right.
Nope. Before TOH, BB was considered as an great spin-off of the souls, but the best parts of the game were quite early or very late in the game. People were talking about Gascoigne, Logarius, Rom and Gehrman (and maybe Amelia), the rest of the bosses was quite overlooked. They looked kinda neat but were not satisfying.
This plus the low weapon variety and the lack of varied build were big flaws in the early days. Especially after a Dark Souls 2 which despite its awful level design made nearly any build possible and worth a try.
Also, BB was (and still is) flawed for me because of its soundtrack which is awfully cliché despite the virtually unlimited possibilities that an orchestra could offer. Seeing that it turned out to be a horror movie soundtrack full of ominous strings and lacking any sort of originality, was quite a letdown.
Also, BB isn't that original plot/background wise. The esthetics made the whole thing work, but I couldn't shake the feeling of deja vu 2/3rds in.
the ending sucked cus there asn't even an ending
it did nothing to tie up loose ends, just asks more questions
old monk is a great idea but it sucks that it's just a random player so it might as well be a regular pvp match, instead of a boss, with a boss moveset, and boss unique attacks, and boss acrobatics and shit, wouldn't you rather have been able to jump around like artorias or be a huge hulking dude like velstadt?
it was short, it was so damn SHORT, the ringed city presents itself as a fucking gigantic town but at best you explore 3 or 4 streets and then more swamps
harvest vally, fucking why
huge empty areas
in the end the problem with ringed city is that it tries to look like more than it is, it's very bait and switch and just leaves you begging for "what could have been"
as the ending to DARK SOULS it serves very little purpose or has any conclusion
the bosses are fine, i guess? midir is annoying, gael for whatever reason is a sponge when you fight him, but when you get summoned suddenly you do 4x damage, none of them left a lasting impression on me tho
the saddest part is that these two dlc's dont even match sunken king, iron king or ivory king in terms of memorability or genuine fun
Not that user, but you should always beat the content alone the first time and only then summon or be summoned. The Soulsborne games were always balanced for a singleplayer experience. I would hate thinking that I wasn't able to do something tailored for a single person.
What's his endgame?
Gael alone tops everything from Old Hunters for me, and the entire Lapp questline was great. Old Hunters was definitely more consistent and better as a whole though.
t. own both bloodborne and ds3
Cute!
>on NG++++
>thinking I shouldn't summon
heh
>worse old monk
How is the church fight worse than Old Monk?
Old Monk had infinite instant heals and scraping spear, making it near impossible to win 1v1.
The only negative this fight has is the room being kinda dark.
BB + DLC > DS1 + DLC > DeS > DS1 > BB > DS2 SOTFS > DS3 + DLC > DS2 + DLC > DS3 > DS2
this is a statement of fact
I have never died to Midir's 2nd phase laser, I just angle myself to be left of him then sprint toward his right foot (from my perspective) once the straight laser blows on the floor, it's kinda like Seath's breath when he does it on the far side of the arena but not close to himself.
DeS is easily last, it really does not hold up.
DaS3>BB>DeS>DaS1>DaS2
It absolutely holds up
>6 teeth between canines
seeDeS is way too overrated.2 worlds out of the 5 are garbage. one is meh and only Boletaria and Latria are really great.
Also the game is plagued of gimmick fights.
when lobos jr summoned whatever her name is for Midir she died way too easily (always dead about halfway through despite doing decent damage).
Nope, 90% garbage bosses, garbage PvP, only 2 areas are interesting and have complex level design, Latria and Boletaria.
Mechanically it very obviously shows how much they learned from fucking up in this game to make the next few lightyears better.
NPC summons have absurd high HP and low damage, they're nothing but an extra target to have the boss leave you alone from time to time.
Shrine of Storms is the best DeS level though
>better than this
Kys fampai
No, it's mostly a linear route with half of it being a cliff + those flying manta rays shooting shit at you, the only good part is at the start with the skeletons.
The 2-2 mine is much better since it actually had tons of paths and optional shit to find.
>Straight line full of shitty booby traps
>Oh no cliffs!
>Necromancers and skeletons make up for the entire variety of the two first parts of the world (with several flying rays).
>First boss is original but not really fun to fight
>the final boss is gimmicky as hell.
Yeah no.
Would wake up.
