this was literally the worst and most disappointing game I ever played. I paid a toonie to rent it for a week too, I was fucking pissed.
anyway, hidden and dangerous 2 for me.

...

...

None of the apparently bad parts of this game ever got to me. I loved it. The weapon jamming and breaking especially

Would you like to sign my petition?

...

One of the few times taking a franchise turn to dark and edgy actually worked

I unironically think this game is a masterpiece. I liked the aspect of it sprinkling around weapons and shit, then giving you mundane quests of like "Get milk" and such shit, like just your everyday chores.
Best part is how the game lets you complete said quests in any way you want or can within game and engine limitations. True patrician taste game up there with Deus Ex, killing in this game is completely optional.

In my opinion, the weapons could've been a tiny bit more durable, but otherwise it was really cool. Now if we could combine the visual degradation and jamming with the gameplay of stalker, we'd get the ultimate FPS RPG game.

People say this one was bad? It had a lot of shit going for it.

Screw you, you freakin pinko!

You can really tell the devs care about Postal and want to see it evolve.

This game is way too fucking hard.

>Drive 2 minutes around the map
>Check point with 10 guys, have to pop out the car and kill them all
>Car got shot up and is now useless, have to grab another new car
>Repeat 5+ times until you get to your destination

Yeah, great game... I wanted to like it, I really did, and it had some cool stuff, it was beautiful to look at, the interface and mechanics were solid, but it was lacking in so many other details. The towns / villages were poorly done, as were interactions with other NPCs and whatnot. The story was mediocre. The setting was so great though, I wish they didn't make all the stupid mistakes they made because it could have been such a great game.

Not even nostalgia, I still play it once in a while.

same except i bought it
first shell shock was an amazing game

Maybe you're just a pussy

...

People say it gets boring because of all the driving and some did seriously think the weapon jamming shit shouldn't have been in the game (even though the whole reason the system exists is so you actually have to buy weapons from the dealer and the guns he sells never jam)
I feel like you should look out for the Gunslinger mod

...

10/10 on the grounds that I've yet to see another game with the same theme and gameplay style that does just as good

Mostly the nostalgia goggles, but what a great RTS for its time. The multiplayer was kick ass back in its time. Great story with great cutscenes and a fun campaign. I miss C&C so fucking much, I refuse to play that abortion that was Tiberium Twilight though...

Honorable mention also RA2 which is almost better in every aspect, but I still love Tiberian Sun more.

It sucks that both sides of the war try to shoot you, even if you're working for them. How bad is the coordination?

Hidden and Dangerous 2 is genuinely a 10/10 game though. I just wish I wasn't a fucking OCD piece of shit and could play games in 4:3 but as it stands I just can't go back to it.

You can fix your car though, which was a nice little aspect of the game, but fuck me did it trigger me when repairing the car consisted of tightening the radiator nut that just keeps the radiator from wobbling around.

>Gunslinger mod
Never ever

Yeah, I forgot about that too. Everyone wants to kill you, every single person in the game wants you dead, it really made things so fucking frustrating.

This desu

Yeah? Well, probably

dat land combat type GM

Had a really cool and gritty atmosphere, the best one in the series. All the other games felt way too cartoonish in comparison, like they were semi-tongue in cheek games.

...

I hold out hope since he updates it often

...

>tfw finally unlocking Minion

My first C&C along with Firestorm.
To this day I have yet to play a more compelling RTS.

...

>all
>fire
>engaged

*straight doodoo on already disabled enemy*

None of these are inxplicable. Everyone knows these are good.

I could write a long list of flaws and minor gripes but still couldn't rate the experience lower than 10/10.

Well it is Africa.

...

...

I loved it and it's still my favorite Civ game. Pretty much everything people thought was annoying about it I thought was cool and different.

Damn, I bought that at a dollar store when I was a kid and I never could get it to run.

Played the first game on low settings and loved it, then when I moved out and built a PC that wasn't garbage I got Clear Sky and played it on max settings and it blew me the fuck away.

Both the gameplay and the cutscenes gave me nightmares as a kid

It's just equal parts cheesy, spooky and downright comfy.

It was my first too, though I played the original one and Red Alert soon after beating Tiberian Sun.

I still go back and play it almost every year, it's still such a great game and fun to play through. It's quite lengthy too, and difficult, even today.

State of emergency. The crowds are so impressive for the time.

X-COM Apocalypse (Even in its current state, so I can't even imagine if every planned feature was implemented. It's going to be improved even with OpenApoc whenever that comes out)
Blast Corps (I don't know why but I love the concept of the game and wish there was a sequel or even a well made spiritual successor)

I've heard about this and the sequel but haven't played it yet. What specifically did you like about it that set it apart from the other Civ games?

...

...

>yfw Kane LIVES!

I liked CIV revolution. Sue me, the quickness is nice sometimes.

Not only is this one of the best Anime/Manga games I've played, it's one of the best boxing games I've played

...

And there will never be another one, ever

I just like Midway's games.

My nigga.

City Mode was fun as fuck.

Literally a perfect football game, the speed, the scale, the big plays, everything. I'd be willing to wager I've put at least 3,000 hours into it and that's very conservative.

I always wanted to play this, I remember seeing ads in gaming magazines back when it was being advertised and it looked really cool.

...

It feels like no one has played this to completion on Sup Forums except me.

This game is so retarded that it becomes amazing. Genuinely the most surprisingly good thing I've ever played.

Here now get off my ass

>What specifically did you like about it that set it apart from the other Civ games?
Terraforming, the ability to colonize the ocean floor and atmosphere, the ability to link ranged/melee units together and have them attack at once, the stealth units meant to disrupt the enemy rather than destroy, and the huge unit variety (with tons of useless ones, I admit). They just had a very different feel from the mainstream Civ games that I found very charming.

Between it's randomly generated dungeons, turn based combat, monster raising/collecting, town building and waifus, I thoroughly enjoyed this game.

It's a bit ugly and the soundtrack ain't great, but I couldn't care less.

Neat, I'll try to do it, thanks.

...

...

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction.

My only real gripes are that i wish there was more draw distance and that the AI was more robust.

To this day, one of my most favorite multiplayer experiences.

Have you played the sequel? The source code for that was apparently released and there's a source port available. I tried playing it but you need the original game files and I didn't feel like getting them at the time.

never heard of it

...

Just heads up the patch is in the comments if you wanna play online

Looks awesome by the cover

To be fair, Alien Soldier's too obscure to have full thread discussing its merits to begin with

...

The last good EA game

I didn't even know there was a sequel until years afterward. I tried it, briefly, but they "fixed" a lot of the charm out of it. I really don't remember what it was like other than that I didn't like it too much.

Loved everything about this game from the robot designing to the basebuilding

...

...

It's from the creators of painkiller, but I personally like it more, since it's not held back by waiting for souls to spawn and shit.

That said, I wouldn't necessarily say it's an objectively better game, but it's a damn interesting one. The gameplay is pretty insane. Duel wielding a sword and gun and throwing the sword and bayonetting someone to the wall in slow motion then pulling out a shotgun and kicking someone and blasting them and then using some magic vampire powers to throw fireballs at the remaining enemies who are now barbed wire covered monsters before pulling out 2 enormous machine guns and dueling wielding to death everything in your path and then getting on a giant dragon and blowing shit up...

it's pretty intense

You can buy it on steam, but it's not for everyone.

My actual chocolate-skinned associate.

This just a legit good game though.

...

I swear, if Asura doesn't get revealed in MvC:I there will be hell to pay

I'd rather we get yasha then asura, honestly, I think he fits MvC gameplay a lot more

Well I'm gonna have to try it.
May get it on sale

Holy shit I never thought I'd see someone else who thinks this game is great. I don't care much for the Kong levels but the Jack parts are legitimately a masterpiece.

Same.
I like the no HUD system where they call out their ammo and whatnot
Great often-overlooked game.

The Kong levels feel amazing on a shaking and rattling rumble enabled Xbox controller

I wish this game didn't have such godawful boxart, then maybe more people would have tried it

Wrong.

That fucking hell level man.

I loved the one-weapon-at-a-time system, and the puzzles were simple but engaging, and they always made good use of the environment. I played through the game again recently and it kinda feels like an extremely well made survival horror game.

this game was on steam, but apparently it was so broken that valve had it removed and the creators said fuck it.

sad, wanted to try it out

>newer fps from makers of PK
>i didnt know about it

you dont say. I guess i really stopped paying attention to most fps after like 2004

Then Jack just disappears

Very jarring narrative wise
