>Thoughts on the full release?

>actually playing this

Its fun

I enjoy it.

What platforms is this on for?

is there online 4 player yet?

PC and I think Xbone

Not exactly. At least now you can do 2 players from one PC vs 2 players from another PC though. You can also do local co-op for abyss mode

No team vs. online, no buy

>At least now you can do 2 players from one PC vs 2 players from another PC though

So, fucking useless then?

Fuck you
Doubles are awesome

Story mode is so fucking barebones. It's actually kind of cute, but I really thought they were going to put more effort into it.

Mayreed is mai waifu

Yeah, doubles are awesome

But now in the fucking format presented here you dumb shit. Nobody even fucking knows this exist and it's on two platformers where the userbase could give less of a shit. Online doubles where your partner could be another online buddy is the only way you'll get anyone decent on your side.

Even Sony Smash bros did that right.

You can't get the Melee crowd to move on without
>Higher production values
>Mascot appeal
>Console support
But boy do I wish the Aether guys had the funbucks to make that game.

Yeah, it's less than ideal, but they did the best they could with what they had to work with.

And really, if the problem is that not enough people know about the game, then invite a friend over, teach him how to play, maybe do some Abyss mode, then go online and play some doubles together. RoA takes literally 1 hour to learn.

Didn't even realize it was out

Yeah all this build up to a full release and I feel like we didnt actually get much. Story mode is just generic arcade mode with cutscenes that rarely actually match up to the next character you fight. Final boss was at least cool and you got a stage for it.

Im not sure he's trying to get the Melee crowd to move on. I'm pretty sure Dan himself is a big Melee fan.
but yeah I dunno. game gets a lot of shit on Sup Forums for being an indie game with a pixel artstyle, being a smashlike, and the anthro designs of the characters

I love the game but even I think you are being too forgiving. It really is a basic fucking feature to let 4 people play online in a game that supports 4 people offline. Pretty sure I've seen Dan tweet or post about how he doesnt want to implement it just because of the lag or some shit. Like nigger what the fuck

>Pretty sure I've seen Dan tweet or post about how he doesnt want to implement it just because of the lag or some shit. Like nigger what the fuck
I still maintain that it's a technical issue, or more accurately, a lack of technical knowhow, that kept online 4 player modes from being put in the game. They probably couldn't get it to work without lag, so they just dropped it.

Dan's intro to playing Smash competitively was Brawl, so it's no wonder he abhors lag. And since a majority of RoA tournaments are played online, he puts a lot of priority on the quality of online play. I think it ended up hurting the game overall, but at least the 1 on 1 online play is good.

>Thoughts on the full release?

Mad gay and not enough fan service for me to care

1 on 1 play is good

Nigger your wrong. Its bad. At least on Ranked. Its unforgiving when newcomers are insta locked against season pros to a point that they can't win a single match and the fucking NEW OPPONANT button doesn't work 99% of the time. It keeps fucking going to the guy that whupped my ass 4 times in a row.

Exhibition mode is good though. I give it that much. Rank just pisses me off with how it tallies you.

>Brawl, so it's no wonder he abhors lag.
Taking any Wii game online was painful as fucking hell. Brawl was fucking unplayable imo.

The problem is ranked (from my past experiences way before it went full release) was that it was always fucking dead. I wouldnt be surprised if the leaderboard is barely any different than launch day (of ranked) leaderboard because everyone stopped playing it after a few weeks

As far as how it controls and plays, it feels decent. But it just doesn't have the quality that smash has that has me coming back for more and to continue playing. Got pretty bored before my 2 hours was up and just refunded it.

I think the physics feel excellent. Much more effort putinto how the characters feel when moving around with things like momentum, initial dash animations, transfering momentum to jump and stuff, than any other smashlike. Or hell even more than Brawl or Smash 4 where momentum doesnt exist and the physics are very stiff and not dynamic.
Easily the best smashlike and the one with the most thought put into it/the idea of what it wants to be/its identity but I know thats not saying much since other smash ripoffs just range from crap to mediocre.
Though obviously if you're into Smash for the casual wacky aspect its much more toned down in Rivals (FFAs and stages in it can still be fun but theres more of that in basically any main Smash game)

Also by 1 on 1 play being good I think he meant the actual matches and how the game handles lag. The matchmaking can be pretty wonky since its not a very popular game.
