I knew that game had developed way too much of a cult following for them not to eventually try to capitalize on it. They're selling "gwent" cards supposedly for people to trade, in which I have zero interest. In all honesty, they should have ditched the project they picked up (was was it? "punk 2024" or something?) and they could just have kept putting out updates. I (along with a ton of people I know) would have just kept buying them even if they charged regular video game price for just 15 hours of content.
Which I guess is testament to how much of a game desert there is right now than to anything special about this series;
"After the Blood and Wine DLC expansion pack for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we were basically informed that Geralt's journeys in The Witcher universe were done with. Even if the Polish supernatural superhero's quests have come to an end, it doesn't mean that the series is completely finished.
In fact, according to a report from Gamespot, The Witcher 4 could happen after all. This was revealed during an investor's conference meeting in Poland, where CD Projekt Red stressed the fact that they purchased the rights from novelist Andrzej Sapkowski in order to do a trilogy of games based on the white wolf, Geralt of Rivia; but the trilogy being finished doesn't mean that they're completely done with the property.
There's still a possibility of diving into more stories based on The Witcher universe. According to one of the executives from CD Projekt at the investor meeting, they stated...
The Witcher was designed as a trilogy and a trilogy cannot have a fourth part, can it? We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we'll think about [making a fourth Witcher game].
It won't be about Geralt. Maybe a create your own Witcher role playing game. Where they focus even more on choices and consequences because they dont have to cater to a specific chracter.
Creating my own witcher and being able to hunt bigger beasts would be amazingly fun.
If they do it, they will have to do something massive with it to top TW3.
Jason Adams
Is this a shitpost?
Camden Young
Would be really pleased if this happened. The DLC for witcher 3 was-IMO-- among the best ever made for a game. IT wasn't just some random shit slapped together, you could tell they really worked on it. Really hope they put out a this and a lot more content ( I know it's not a definitive "yes," but it's not a "no, it's over" either like they were saying a few months back:
"The Witcher 3 marked the final installment in a trilogy conceived by CD Projekt when they snapped up the rights from the novel’s writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s.
The games in the series have sold over 25 million copies so far, with The Witcher 3 sales topping £200 million.
Given the success of the franchise, would the studio consider continuing Geralt’s story?
During a Q&A that followed CD Projekt’s management meeting, one of the executives was asked whether The Witcher 4 is something they would consider making (at around the 42:14 mark).
“The Witcher was designed as a trilogy and a trilogy cannot have a fourth part, can it?
“We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we’ll think about [making another Witcher game].”
Would you want to see The Witcher 4, or are you happy to bid farewell to Geralt? Let us know in the comments."
but W3's true DLC ending was the best ending we've seen in years
Grayson Johnson
>something massive with it to top TW3. Just off the top of my head...let's say they open up with the ending the Ciri became empress, and she was assassinated. Gerald has to track down her assassin. Not to knock the books, but there are so many deus ex machinas (changing dimensions, traveling through time) that really anything is possible.
Or, Recall how Ciri comes back from one of her time travels and essentially talks about having visited the modern day world? There are a thousand different ways they could approach this.
Nathan Perez
Playing as young Vesemir > playing as Lambert > playing as Eskel > playing as your OC DONUT STEEL witcher > playing as Ciri
Ciri as the protag for Witcher 4 is a stupid fucking idea for twats.
Ethan Scott
>true DLC ending Yeah, but then it depends on the choices you made and if Ciri ended up as a Witch and if you ended up in your French chateau with Yen or with Trish and a Job waiting for you back when you feel like going.
Another possibility is that Ciri could have a daughter/son (I fucking hated that one throw away line in the sauna where you could have Ciri declare she was a fucking dyke).
Also, recall when Siri wakes up after you rescues her on the island with the levees, and she begins telling gerald about her time visiting today's modern world and he says she should stop talking because he doesn't believe her? There are 1000 different ways they can approach it. So long as it's the Pollak studio CD Projekt, I'd be on board. Everything they touch turns out fucking amazing.
Wyatt Rogers
they originally intended to have you create your own character and not play as gerald
Angel Martinez
kinda agree here. W3 has already established that she has greater powers than all of them and can fuck everyone else, wouldn't make much sense. Either a prequel as you said or....something with Ciri taking ti Gerald on his death bed and Ciri (with a son now) sending him off to get some magic that would bring him eternal life of some kind.
All due respect to the books, but they're really,....they were good for basic ideas, they rest father shit you can twist any which way you want. It's already established that Ciri is a time traveller and her elder blood allows her to do as much. Presumably if she had a son, he'd have same abilities?
James Parker
Haven't played the Witcher games, but does a fourth entry even make sense?
How many books has the series covered thus far?
Google seems to point towards 5 main books in the Witcher saga.
Adrian Peterson
>they originally intended to have you create your own character and not play as gerald There's are certain parts where you can tell they saw ho successful Game of Thrones was with Western audiences and decided to just play off it. I'm sort of glad they didn't, would have been too much like Elder Scrolls.
Jace Collins
>How many books has the series covered thus far? None. The games take place after the books.
Chase Edwards
How hard is it for normal people in the Witcher universe to learn magic or become competent monster fighters? I'd be interested in a game set in that universe were you create your own character but aren't tied to just being a Witcher.
William Price
>That fucking scene where Geralt and the lads all get fucking hammered in Kaer Morhen
Literally the most comfy thing I've ever seen in a game in my life. Holy fucking shit I love The Witcher.
Joseph Powell
>one of the best series to grace the video game industry >developer calls quits due to property rights and milking a franchise >fans beg for more >developer considers the possibility >Sup Forums calls em sell outs
Sometimes I wish I could strangle you people with my bear hands.
Jackson Hall
The only issue is figuring out exactly how to fit it into the existing lore.
>Can't / Won't be about Geralt >Ciri being the protag means that Geralt would be involved, she is also way too powerful to be used as a main character >At the end of TW3 the world was entering an era where monsters and witchers were becoming relics of the past and no longer needed
I just see so many issues, you've got lots of great settings and not re-using all that backstory and lore would suck but at the same time how could you have another large story take place in those regions and not have Geralt show up? You would have to push the game forwards or backwards in time by at least a couple hundred years to get past the long life spans of witchers and whatnot, but by doing that you'd find yourself having to completely redo the politics and story of each region thus throwing away everything already setup.
I want it to happen but the most likely thing here seems to be a prequel and I'm not a fan of those. Personally I'd like to see a new character that we get to be with from the very start, someone going through the trials and all that.
Kevin Sanders
I would rather strangle you for liking this shit franchise
Owen Rodriguez
Shit, you fags just reminded me. Am playing Witcher 3 on Pc for first time, need to go see the scene Gerald visits the brothels with that younger witcher with he chip on his shoulder. Also, if you haven't played "Witcher 3" on PC, you have no fucking clue just how much they edited out. Just as an example, all the dead whores in grotesque positions at whoreson jar's house. There's a lot of other graphic things they just cut out for the fucking console versions.
Leo Perry
Thanks to the /vint/ merge we now know who you are you fucking leaf
Benjamin Ramirez
I really want a game where you play as a sorceress. Magic focused combat and a story about you using your vagina for political manipulation.
Carter Moore
u wanna have a go m8. ill take it outside u fgt
Angel Peterson
Your life must truly be devoid of any purpose or meaning. Jesus christ...
Jose Gomez
On one hand it would be neat to pick your own character, witcher or mage, and play through the game like that but on the other hand I really prefer the advantages of having a predetermined MC has when it comes to storytelling. If they do make another Witcher I'd like it better if they gave us a character to use like Geralt instead of allowing people to design their own.
Dominic Ortiz
I'd play a Witcher game where you can make your own witcher and world exploration inspired by BotW, which seems like the next tendency in terms of open world.
Brody Reyes
Wow?
Ryan Flores
I realize you are making a (bad) joke, but at times the game did stop just at the edge of "grrl power" type of shit. Probably only way they could get away with Ciri in the tight outfits Yennifer in the garter belt for entire game and so on. In face, they showed the "tenor board" Benn and trish in much more "conservative outfits," then as soon as the feminist cunts let it pass, they dressed them like sluts again. These cunts are coming seriously close to ruing all-ALL-- fucking games. If it isn't a full bull-dyke in a flannel and a buzz cut, it's "muh wmynz exploitation."
Ethan Martinez
>pick your own character, witcher or mage, and play through the game that's called "elder scrolls" though. I hope they just stick with Geralt. If he's meant to be too old at time pull a deus ex machine, have him discover some sort of "fountain of youth" that takes 30 years off him.
Aiden Wilson
I'm not making a joke. I'm 100% serious. I really want a Witcher game were you play as a sorceress that's heavy on political manipulation.
Jose Hill
And that's why I said I don't like it, games like TES and Mass Effect/Dragon Age give it to us and I really don't want more of that, I like what having a premade character does for the story.
Geralt shouldn't come back either, his story is over and finding some ass pull to bring him back just wouldn't be enjoyable. They just need to find some way to make use of the world they already built up when creating a new character and story.
Chase White
>I fucking hated that one throw away line in the sauna where you could have Ciri declare she was a fucking dyke
Fuck off homophobe.
Ciri even got with girls in the books.
Isaiah Richardson
>The world of The Witcher >Mountainess regions >Deep sea areas >Monster hunting, both and and sea >Assassins Creed Black Flag navel exploration and combat against seas monsters >freedom of Breath of the Wild (ie, climbing) >Narrative depth of TW3 (characters, quests, etc.) >Create your own chracter or play as Geralt (much like Mass Effect) >Hundreds of names voice recorded for all charcters to refer your donut steel by name (smilar to Fallout4 just dont a lot better) >Character creation with the depth of Black Desert >you are not the hero of legend, just some witcher with a life and a destiny to follow/disregard >shadow of the colossus boss enemies for land battles
The dream is alive and well.
Kevin Lewis
>Deep sea areas >Monster hunting, both and and sea Please no. Sailing around Skelliga got really old really fast
Cooper Price
Game is totally aside from books. There are 5 books called ""saga"" and 3 books called side stories which are better than saga.
Xavier Phillips
A big navel ship, not a small wooden skipper, would be fun as fuck.
Hunter Hill
Only if you don't have to stop every 3 seconds to dive for treasure and shoot sirens. Are there big sea monsters in the witcher universe? I guess those could be fun to hunt with a naval ship.
Nicholas Robinson
There are, have you read the comics published by Dark Horse? "Fox Children" has a sea monster in it. I recommend them.
Luke Evans
I agree. But this post is dangerously approaching reddit territory, dial it back f am.
Thomas Ross
Of course it will happen. The brand is so popular by now, people would buy a bag of shit with its name on it.
Ryan Diaz
Most of you guys are real idiots. Yearly ACs and CoDs are to blame, it's not your fault.
You have to know when to stop before you destroy your own work. CDPR doesn't want to be known as "The Witcher guys". That's why they are working on Cyberpunk. Just look at Andromeda - doesn't it just fuck up ME legacy?
Is it possible we'll see TW4? Maybe, but certainly not with the 4 at the end of the title.
I guess they could probably set the game long before TW1-3 and the books. That way you could create your own character and just go on exploring and monster hunting with no 'saving world' bullshit. I'm talking about times when witchers weren't sacked yet, and there were plenty of them (monsters too).
Charles Sanders
I don't think anyone in this thread has said they wanted to see another game staring Geralt after the events of TW3.
Jeremiah Price
here, pure autism:
Brandon Barnes
no fuck witcher. Gib cyberpunk
Asher Russell
One guy asking for The Witcher: Andromeda isn't indictive of the whole thread.
Tyler Thomas
fuck off, reddit. you're 100% reddit. i'm so sick of having a pre determined character. it's not better for storytelling. it's better for telling the story the developers want, that's it. fuck you
Christopher Reyes
>may >could >should Literally just a clickbait article. Over the years I've learned these words mean "people want" and is meaningless as a rumor
Joseph Torres
>Fuck off homophobe. Are you Kidding me?
Nathaniel Evans
Well yeah, it could. We could also be hit by a rogue asteroid tomorrow. CDPR said GERALT'S story is over. Also, Gwent is a game in the property so there's that.
Jordan Adams
>meaningless as a rumor mI've been working in him for25 years. No use bothering with my credentials or "my dad works at nintendo too!" When the the guy in charge lets you know that they knew is there is if decides he was he wants to do it--which is 99.9% will due to monkey being there-- it's a very safe get it is going ahead.
Daniel Wilson
of course they're making a 4th game, and it'll be out before Cybervaporware 2077.
no sane studio would waste all those assets.
pretty much this, if not create a character it'll be Yennefer since she's the most popular.
Jack Torres
This is old news they said Geralts story was over but never said anything about Witcher series being dead. It's too much of a cashcow if they did something like I would be pretty stoked.
I think they're just putting witcher down for right now to take a break and do a new project and branch out a little bit.
Bentley Gomez
>“We like this world a lot. We invested 15 years of our lives in it and a lot of money. So, we’ll think about [making another Witcher game].”
So did Sapkowski outright SELL the rights to Witcher to them for video games or did he just lease them long term? Because I imagine there's a time limit involved.
Dominic Richardson
The games take place after the books. They own the whole licence I think so they can do whatever they want with it.
Alexander Williams
>in him *in film. doesn't ean a s shit s none will believe, which is the best easy about this board. anyone ca claim anything/ you mfoggier out real from shit.
Andrew Nguyen
Will it actually have an acceptable combat system this time?
Cooper Scott
It's extremely hard in the witcher universe. Witchers have to go through a bunch of painful processes to become a witcher that most die from to be able to have the powers that they have. Yet sorceresses are still a lot more powerful.
Christian Reed
I actually really liked Ciri she had a bunch of weaknesses, the only reason she could hold up was the she's the chose one meme. Other then that she was a subpar fighter.
Luke Cruz
Magic-wise very difficult and requires inherent talent. Keep in mind Witcher signs are like the most basic rote shit compared to actual magic. Although that could just be because the Wolf school as we see it is headed by Vesermir who, while he wanted his students to learn a bit of everything, was always more of a sword training kind of guy according to what you hear in Witcher 1.
Thomas Green
>CinemaBlend *farts*
Carson Davis
>A comfy SOL Witcher game where instead of huge jobs, he takes on a series of jobs like the expansions packs Yes/No?
Carter Carter
I think training for magic takes too long, witchers die a lot because of their job. They're monster hunter/exorcists they dont' need to know too much magic.
Leo Green
Sapkowski was so butthurt that he sold the rights for a fixed price instead of percent, that I doubt he will allow them to do the 4th game without hefty royalities. They're focused on Cyberpunk now, so even if W4 happens it won't be sooner than in 5 years.
Xavier Reed
>that I doubt he will allow them to do the 4th game without hefty royalities. He's not that salty and CDPR own the video game license to The Witcher series.
Wyatt Cruz
>In all honesty, they should have ditched the project they picked up (was was it? "punk 2024" or something? ok you made me mad, good job
Xavier Foster
Maybe a spin-off Ciri prequel and her adventures to other worlds.
David Gutierrez
It was a failed book and movie series as said he sold the whole license. He probably didn't think it would blow up as much as it did. It must be the worst thing in the world when someone takes your work and makes it not shit.
Julian Thomas
where do these track suit wearing slavs get their resources??
Isaac Johnson
Books weren't shit tho. I would argue that even TV series wasn't bad. People disliked it for rubber dragons, but I don't mind. Given that half of Sup Forums owns dragon dildos they probably wouldn't mind either.
Parker Russell
That's basically what they've been saying since Witcher 3 was announced.
Caleb Wright
I've never read them so I don't know. I just know they didn't sell and the writer had given up on the series.
Benjamin Perry
as long as no Ciri is involved I'll be happy
Dylan Ross
>I just know they didn't sell You have false information then. His books are and were the most popular fantasy books in Poland way before the games came out.
