even though I only use my CD drive maybe once every 2 years I'm glad I have it when I need it.

I've still got a ton of shit on optical media.
Whenever I want to dig up something from the past I rip the disc and then put it away in storage. Until I've done everything I'm hanging on to drive.
Optical media is not even close to being dead.
