Pretty much, yeah. Somebody else can speak with more historical know-how, but IIRC submachine guns and guns akin to our modern day assault rifles (like the German STG series) weren't everywhere in WWII. Which makes it even more retarded that a WWI has you sprinting around the maps with submachine guns.

Even Semi-automatics weren't that common, it was mostly an American thing.

Germans and Russians employed a lot of grunt SMGs though, especially the Germans whose entire philosophy regarding the weapons was the opposite of ours.

Our machine gunners were there to back up riflemen. For the Germans, the machine gun was the big thing and the rifleman was supposed to play support to them.

A number of the weapons in BF1 are prototypes that never actually saw combat or production.

The sweetspot mechanic is infuriating. I didn't realize .303 was so fucking fickle about the distance it kills at.

Shoot a guy point blank in the chest and he'll just beat you to death with his shovel for even trying it. No, he has to be 60 meters away before that massive piece of lead will drop him, NOT TOO FAR THOUGH! Otherwise it won't be enough to kill him again.

While I agree that the mechanic is stupid as shit in BF1, using a weapon closer than intended can lead to overpenetration where the round passes through the target without having a chance to fragment or mushroom

which is weird because the lee enfield was "battle rifle" and it performed quite well at close ranges.

While this is true, especially with ball ammo, I don't think anyone shot with any full powered rifle cartridge up close is gonna get up, chop you to bits, and run away like nothing happened.

Well yeah, when a round is able to drop an elk, I doubt the human body is going to fare much better. That said, the human body and brain is capable of some wack ass shit when it's dumping adrenaline and in a fight for self preservation

i'll check out RO2, it seems to get a lot of praise here, and on Sup Forums that isn't common. Any other games coming out like it soon? i think it is heroes and generals may be good but right now its early access and haven't heard much on it.

Heroes and Generals has potential but a lot of it is locked away behind microtransactions,players with money have a definite edge (free player light m2 tank runs into king tiger 2 type situations) they make AT ammo expensive so you sometimes have to scramble for a disposable map AT weapon

It just feels like an ADD ridden shitfest. There's no point in deploying actual strategy of tactics to win because you're gonna be dead in 10 seconds anyways from the constant snipers/tanks/planes/grenades/behemoths and whatever else. It's just deathmatch where you sometimes stand near a capture flag.

it was a downgrade from BF4, there's less options to have fun and the setting isn't that interesting as people hyped it to be.

They should buff the tank armor and severely nerf the distance the tank can effectively shoot so tanks are used as breakthrough units rather than explosive round snipers

The fact that you could get all the best weapons within 2-3 days play, the maps all feel the same for the most part and there wasnt any DLC for 6 months.

conquest scoring system was changed, it has been the same in bf1942 till bf4 but they decided to change the ticket bleed system to something else because they wanted to keep things new and fresh, funny though.. they're tweaking it a little bit in the next patch..

Well, they wanted to add a French tank to the game, and the French's St. Chamond was probably one of the most mass produced tanks during the war. Even though they were functionally pieces of garbage. I love their designs, though. They're basically derpy long rectangles with guns sticking out of them. It's BattleBots tier engineering.

Not sure about you, but I'd never played a fps before this game. I loved it. Matches tend to last a bit long, but that's alright I guess. Things that annoy me tend to be player oriented:

>Tanks hang out far away from combat, getting 0 kills
>some snipers stay faaaar back and offer no advantage, other than going 2 and 1 for kills/death
>tanks that do roll into battle are easy as fuck to kill
>flying a plane too close to an AA gun will go down in a matter of seconds.
>assholes sniping with the model 10 shotgun. I don't really understand the bullet mechanics, but something tells me a fucking shotgun shell shouldn't be able to one shot me from across the goddamn map.
>don't really give a shit about the blacks. It's a little annoying, but you can't tell who is who once in game. I haven't noticed anyone's skin color in game yet.

Well bad for them good for me because I need to pad my stats with infantry kills. My K/D is pretty damn important desu. Also the AA truck and guns need to be nerfed a little more to ensure that I have complete control of the air space for my kill runs

It's nothing, really. A gun is more powerful if you shoot the enemy from a preferred distance. It's not like the difference between 1 shot kill or 4 shots, especially since we're dealing with full auto guns most of the time.

I still play bf4. I just prefer it over bf1. BF1 has a lower skill ceiling and more COD faggotry. Movement also feels sluggish, vehicles actually feel like a threat which is good, but their implementation just reinforces the worst types of gameplay.

BF1 planes are cool though.... sometimes.

The gunplay isn't satisfying and now battlefield game has felt good since Bad Company. The locations are mostly boring as fuck.

You should be able to collapse trenches and bury men. The way that they handled customization is also boring as fuck. I feel like I am paying for less content at the same price as previous battlefields.

The best mode is Operations but finding a match is becoming harder because it doesn't have a fucking playlist. It makes a great mode more of a hassle to play.

Sniper damage is calculated based on your relative distance from the enemy you're firing at. X being the start of the "sweet spot" and Y being the end of it, the highest damage is only possible between X and Y distances. Anything below X or above Y will do less damage.

If I'm sniper, I always use LoA, and that is ALWAYS 2 shots, regardless of distance.

I thought BF4's tank whores were bad, and that maybe BF1 would fix that. In fact, BF1's tank whores are way, way worse.

Tanks often hang out in back and do fuck all, but thankfully they are easy as hell to take out when you get the 1 player that actually takes it into combat.

Damage falloff has been a thing for a long time and is a decent idea. Bullets acting like rockets, gaining speed before plateauing and then slowing down is a stupid fucking idea.

yea, there are a lot more ways to kill tanks in bf4.

Well, it's not COMPLETELY stupid. Bullets mushroom out as they travel through the air, so there is a point where you are getting maximum "bullet hole" size. But that honestly depends on the ammo used more than the gun that's firing it.

i get the st chamond is semi famous but it seemed like a lazy choice

Schneider CA1 atleast had turrets that were inverted version of the british mk4 and would have offered different engagements beyond the french a7v.


i liked early french tanks even in WOT and WT because of their heavy armour

combinbing heavy tanks,light tanks and arty trucks under one spawn resrouce was severly limiting the combined arms aspect.

if you pulled anything like an AA truck to deal with planes you ended up handicapping your team in armour engagements

Nah the best part about the armor maps is when all four slots get used for Heavy Tank/Arty Truck hill sniping desu. Only literal cuckholds would play to capture the objectives. BF1 is pretty much a team game in name only, the real winners are the ones with the high score count and KD thanks to killstreaks.

Real talk though if they want to improve the combined arms aspect why not just have a dedicated slot for an AA truck on the chance that all AA guns get blown out of the map. It would certainly be a godsend to have someone watching the skies in Operations, Lord knows how many times I've seen infantry getting farmed on an industrial basis by unchallenged aircraft.
