How would you rank this with the other 3D zeldas? What do you like and dislike the most in this game? What do you want from the square, given that Zelda will be open-air from now on?

dude calm the fuck down i don't even have the attention span do answer your gigantic questionnaire
i like thunderblight ganon and i think the gorons are awesome in this iteration, that's all you get
Thunderblight is a good fight, but phase 1 Ganon is the most fun
That reminds me of the question
WHY THE FUCK IS HE A SPIDER
The actual dungeons are too short and there's not enough enemy variety.
I want more dank caves and ancient temples, buried beneath lakes.
It's my favorite zelda.
Same but if they included more unique content like freeing Naydra or the eventide island the game would take even longer to come out... they have to draw the line somewhere
It's the best 3D Zelda. I like everythign about it and don't like the lack of caves. Not dungeons, caves. I wanted a cave or two to explore.
To make up for the lack of spiders in the actual game
What the fuck were they thinking?
There's already a BotW thread Nintenfags

>how you would rank it with other 3D zeldas
It's a different game entirely. For my tastes, it's way better.
Molduga has great music, but the fight itself isn't that good
>not wanting the weather forecast
No
It's the best one, 2D or 3D.
LTTP and LA are better, but it is the best 3D
Because Calamity Ganon is a guardian cyborg
And only Zelda, bearer of Goddess genetics and the entire Triforce for some reason can stop him... after Link beats him down
No, really, if Zelda had the Triforce, why was Ganon an issue?
Ganon's not more powerful than the triforce, he's usually a threat because he's gotten hold of the Triforce of Power or the entire thing
No, YOUR favorites aren't good!
I'll never get all the praise for LA
It wasn't bad or anything, but nothing about it really struck me as being stand-out amazing
Dude how little attention were you paying...... she couldn't awaken her powers it was the whole dilemma of her character..
She doesn't have the whole triforce. She has one piece, which is the more brightly lit piece of the triforce that appeared on her hand. That's how they've visually represented it since OoT.
Here's the thing, I have a hard time comparing a game like LA or LttP to a game like BotW, so I respect your opinion and I guess it's really just a personal thing.
For me tho, BotW is right above.

Best gameplay, the game needs more worthwhile loot/goals/mission areas though, OoT still has the better feeling/story
Was it?
I didn't notice one piece being brighter than the other. My bad
Her powers is goddess genes. The Triforce is more like the hookshot, you don't need to awaken anything to use it
Disregarding the fact that she might not have the whole piece; no one knows how it works in the game. Even Zelda only knows it as a 'sealing power'
>Patricia is her own entry in the Hyrule Compendium

The lack of themed dungeons takes a lot out of the game. The overworld is nice I guess. But it doesn't do enough to compensate that fact.
The tools are small and number and the mini-dungeons feel samey and repetitive.
The durability system is over the top. You should be able to pay large amounts in repair fees and/or have a system in place to increase durability.
The boss fights are insanely repetitive and dull.
You don't get new gadgets and abilities over the course of the game, I'm kind of torn on that one.
There's things I like about the game but those are my main complaints. I much prefer LttP or OoT in design.
The sequel needs a hookshot that you can use like Belmot's whip/Spider-man to swing around on stuff.
What?

So, how do the dragons work, exactly? After meeting the ice one i thought i was supposed to free each one of them from Ganon's goo, but then i found the electric one just fucking around in lake Hylia like nothing
What's the best use of their scales?
Material upgrading
Is this game's only function to try and make Sonyfags feel better about it's non-existent competition against Zelda?
LA was a giant jump ahead for the series. Especially the side-quests put it above LttP.
Also remember it was only the fourth game and before OoT.
only naryu needs to be freed
dragons shoot balls of elemental shit at you if you get close, and hitting them with arrows in different locations earns you different crafting material (scale, claw, horn)
you need scales to open 3 shrines
you need various pieces to upgrade some armors
all pieces can be used as a component in cooking to power up recipes. Horn for example adds guaranteed supercritical success, +3.75 hearts and sets duration of buff to 30 minutes

Hahahahahahahaha
>hookshot
THE most overrated item in Zelda. Revali's gale is good enough
Eh, the minimap has its uses. Sometimes you want to head towards a thing you put on the map and keep heading there even if you get waylaid by mini quests.
I wish it was modular though. Or maybe you could have the option of having the things you mark show up on the horizon like that Witcher 3 mod.
I do want the ability to remove hearts as well, screenshots would look much better
Why were the traveling NPCs so poorly done? Every NPC in the towns has dozens of lines of dialogue where they recognize stupid shit that I'm doing, but the two truffle girls don't even recognize me after I save them six times? And they don't even get different lines of dialogue depending on their current location.
Agreed. It's not like I have to look at my stamina wheel when I'm not using it.
... do I? I'm not playing right now and it's the kind of thing I would have tuned out weeks ago.
Yeah, that was a bummer to me
You don't. It only appears when you are using it
is that way. please go away and stay there. thanks.
fuck rain
Ok I'm done for now. Didn't get close to completing even the shrines but I'm sick of it now.
How can I take the save out of my Wii U so I can play it on CEMU whenever the DLC hits?
I would use the pro-hud if it had a small compass on the lower right. A compass is the minimum needed in order to progress in the game.
Shrine hunting is so fucking tedious I am glad that I am not a completionist. Don't get me started on Koroks. They are fine if you are not actively shooting for 100%, but if you are? Fuck it
I just realized something. There is no shitendo containment board because Sup Forums is shitendo containment board. Damn, that's depressing.
It's probably the weakest 3D Zelda game but that's a pretty high standard in the first place.
Still a damn good time.
>weakest 3D Zelda
That's a wrong opinion if I ever saw one
Continue being depressed my man
How shit is your sense of direction that you can't navigate via landmarks?
It's a great experiment for the future. With an interesting story and more focus on actual dungeons it could be incredible.
Also removal of obvious shit, like breaking weapons etc.
It's no Majora's Mask, but it's still a great game.
Weaker than TP?
Weaker than WW?
Weaker than SS?
Damn, user.
It's the best 3D Zelda since MM
I like the weapon breaking, and hope it returns but with added durability and some QOL changes
Pretty much. All of those games had good memorable dungeons, with fun different aesthetics. They also had good stories and memorable characters. Plus good original music.
BOTW has none of these but I'll be damned if it wasn't still a damn fine game thanks to its unique mechanics.
It may be the little bro in terms of the 3D Zelda hierarchy, but it will still be remembered for years to come for it's fun sandbox gamepay.

You know I listed SS there, right?
Fuck spiders. How are there no LIKE LIKES in this game? Think about it. It's an enemy whos entire thing is stealing your weapons in a game ABOUT weapons.
This wouldn't be a case of
>Whoopsie-doo! I guess it stole my blue tunic. Better get it back!
This is
>Oh, shit. Oh, fuck. That thing just stole my only means of survival and I'm surrounded by 3 Moblins. Better improvise!
That sounds pretty fuckin' cool, right? Why are there no Like Likes in this game?
why the fuck would we need darknuts?
we already have plenty of heavy bruiser sword wielding enemies
moblins
yiga blademasters
lynels

thunderblight ganon
Yeah, SS arguably has the best story in the series. That's not why people hate it.

>Why the fuck would we need Darknuts?
Because it's variety. It would have different weapons, different attack patterns and a different way to beat it. You can't exactly "mount" a Darknut, now can you? Also, this is a game where you have magnet powers against an enemy that's all about metal armor. It's a match made in heaven!
They look fucking cool, I'm a sucker for Knights
Could have put darknuts in the mazes
Also, in my eyes, Darknuts would be the scale of Lynels, hence my comparison to them. My bad.

> They also had good stories and memorable characters.
>BOTW has none of these
Ok, I don't fucking understand how BotW's story content is ANY different than the story content is other Zelda games.
All the naysayers have been saying this exact thing, but from where I am It's fucking identical.
Is it simply another case of if you make it optional, no one does it?
FYI, finding the memories is marked as a Main Quest. Then on top of that you've got the scenes with the Zora/Gerudo/Rito/Gorons while doing the 4 divine beasts, and the stuff with Impa.
Like really, how are the other games any better, or even different for that matter?
Giant. He is objectively the best horse
>can run over anything
>gallop faster than sprints
>magnesis on Darknut
>flails around a bit (the first time only) then proceeds to snipe you with his bow
I know endura carrots give temporary sprint-points
Do swift carrots do anything?
2-5-3 sprinting is far far faster than giant
giant moves at the speed of a 4 speed horse without gallop
yes they give something
take a wild guess what they give
The fuck am I reading? SS had the best character development and story in the series. Prove otherwise.
People dislike the game because of motion controls, backtracking, and the repetitive boss fights.
affection points
But honestly though, I fed a horse 5 swift carrots, saw no effect on stats. Was wondering if it was a temporary boost, like Endura Carrots, or something
Darknuts could follow their TP design, where they start the fight as walking fortresses that you should stay away from and end the fight as fast fencers
This would add an enemy to the mix that you might actually consciously save for last due to the type of enemy it is instead of just fighting enemies based on their position which is what I usually find myself doing. (what's closest to you, or positioned on the outskirts of a camp)
How the fuck do I get dragons fang? I shoot at their mouths and scales drop
>all of those games had good memorable dungeons
uh, WW?
>with fun different aesthetics
TP's doom and gloom style was meh and SS's painted shit was forgettable
>they also had good stories
i don't think any of them had good stories, but neither did BotW.
>memorable characters
each 3D zelda has maybe one or two memorable characters. TP pretty much only has Midna, WW has Medli and Tetra, and SS has Groose. BotW has Sidon and Kass so its at least par for the course, I'd argue Zelda herself is more memorable than any other Zelda unless you count pre transformation Tetra.
>Plus good original music
BotW was probably a little weaker in the music department than the other games, but I think a lot of that is because you spend most of your time in the open world where the music is more subdued. some of the town tracks are really good, like hateno village and the korok forest
all in all i'd call it unquestionably better than WW, TP, and SS, maybe on par or just below OOT, but still not as good as MM
The Triforce grants the wish found within the heart of the person who obtains it. Even if BotW Zelda has the entire thing, her whole backstory is that she's unwilling to toss aside her personal curiosities and feelings towards others (like Link and the King) for the good of Hyrule until it's too late.
You forgot aggressive hand holding.
That was actually my biggest problem with SS.
Starting with WW, the series really started to baby it's players, and SS was the worst offender of this.
There were parts where I actually felt like it was insulting my intelligence. For instance, how it goes about telling you to return to the first dungeon when you have to do that.
Thankfully, BotW really dialed back the hand holding and it's a far better game for it.
>SS will be the first in the series and be the origin story for the future games
>oh the origin of ganon? some evil spirit named something other than ganon existed before the game started and decided he'd call his future incarnations Ganon
>oh the origin of hyrule? well people lived on this floating island and then came down to earth where other people already lived and they called it hyrule. how did that floating island get there? idk?
>the origin of the master sword? oh it was called the goddess sword before and then it got stronger, really cool huh?
yeah, great story
There's one of each in Hyrule Castle in treasure chests
I don't want to go there yet
The Triforce was left to the chubby goddess of time (fuck Naryu apparently) who was totes best friends with the Golden Goddesses and loved Link before any of you and is totally Zelda
this game already has large humanoid sword fighting enemies out the wazoo
why should nintendo spend time making 1 darknut enemy when it SHOULD have taken the same resources to make 10 minor enemies like deku baba, leevers, skulltula, etc and used them to increase the enemy variety and make more unique enemy subsets for each area, so you aren't fighting the same homogenized mix everywhere in hyrule
heres what the game needed:
>Leever
>Skulltula
>Skullwalltula
>Like-Like
>Deku Baba
>Vire
>Tektite
>Beamos
>Vulture
>Peahat
>Redead
>Wallmaster
then round it out with a few more miniboss variations for land, sea & air:
>Dodongo
>Gohma
>Gleeok
>Gyorg
>Argorok
>Mothula

DLC: More story? / Sequel: Maybe a wind waker like boat and islands?
Best Zelda game, not just of the 3D games
What the fuck are you talking about? It was like bad fanfiction in how obsessed it was with providing an "origin" story for everything, and it did so in a clumsy and stupid way. It contradicted the (better) mythology OoT and ruined Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf forever by taking away their agency as individual characters in a series. Then the story itself starts with terrible highschool anime drama, proceeded with an incredibly stupid unmemorable secondary villain, and padded itself out with anticlimaxes. Groose was a good character, but that had been done before, and better.
It has absolutely nothing on Majora's Mask, which told a simple story in an interesting way. Where it had a much stronger basic narrative, with a villain with a backstory, a new mythology it established and made meaningful use of, and more importantly, ideas and themes that the story and world conveyed. The game was about a message, not about trying to provide pointless explanations for Zelda tropes. It even did Groose better than SS, Tatl was a much better example of an initially unfriendly and harsh character who developed into Link's friend.
I wish all games has a camera mode
Look at hitman 2016, that game looks amazing but most screenshots have button prompts even when you turn off the hud
But I prefer quality>quantity
And I get excited just thinking about Darknuts riding on lynels
The game has so many humanoid enemies with swords so that the player doesn't run out of fucking weapons.
If you add a bunch of enemies that don't restock the player on weapons as they fight them, then you get a bunch of fights that people are just going to try to avoid.
While I agree with you to some extent, if you're going to include an enemy, you'd better be able to explain the gameplay that it brings to the table and why the game needs it.
For instance, the game needs Like-like because shields are kind of overpowered and having an enemy that specifically targets your shield would keep people from using them as a crutch.
Also, the game already effectively has Beamos, all over the place even, that's the point of the legless guardians
this game has enough quality
it needs more quantity
everyone complains about low enemy variety but do those same people point out that a single lynel has more attack moves than 15-20 enemies from a game like link to the past?
While I do agree that there aren't nearly enough enemies and your choices of enemies are very nice, I don't think you quite understand how games are made if you think that it would take the same amount of R&D to make 1 large enemy as it would to make 10 smaller ones. Just because an enemy is bigger and has more animations doesn't make it that much harder to design and implement.
In fact, behaviorally-speaking, Lynels are actually LESS complex than Bokoblins, because they don't react to their environment as dynamically as Bokoblins. Bokoblins must be able to use all 4 weapon types and be able to react to a multitude of stimuli that larger "boss" enemies simply don't need to such as bees, being on fire, not having a weapon and having to scavenge for one, etc.
very easy problem to solve:
>skulltula drop as disc class weapons like the demon carver
>deku baba vines can be wielded as a whip
etc
thats how the game already handles the flood of stal-enemies, each one drops an arm, and since they only have 1 hp you can kill one, use its arm to kill the rest, only takes 1 durability from your weapons to kill all of them
That's true, it does get boring seeing the same enemies, although the fight themselves are fun
I think they will add more enemies next game
