>Sup Forums wants a generic cyberpunk Souls-like by FromSoft >not fucking pic related
You people have shit taste. This franchise is perfect for this kind of game. You got gunslingers, and magic, and creepy horror shit. And a western desert-like setting is great too.
Who else would like to see something along these lines be the next Souls-like game by FromSoft rather than some generic cyberpunk or modern Tokyo bullshit?
Angel Wright
We don't even know if there is a next 'soulslike' game, they're working on a new Armored Core and a new RPG series that's apparently 'from another perspective' meaning it's most likely first person like King's Field and thus nothing like Souls outside setting, and the third one is a wildcard that Miyazaki is working on personally and could either be something brand new or a final Souls style game to try and make one that's both good and finished before they move on. He's said he's fucking sick of Dark Souls and their game plan is to do new stuff for the next 5 years then reevalute whether they want to revisit Souls or not.
Dark Tower could be cool though. I'd like to see how From approach a Dark Tower/Stone Ocean/Yoko Taro style ending like that.
Cooper Kelly
>stephen king
literally brain cancer litteratture
Cameron Cruz
Yeah, I know their next game won't be Souls-like, but Sup Forums had a thread the other day talking about that, and everyone was wanking over the idea of a cyberpunk Souls-like, and it was painful, when much better and original ideas exist out there.
A western-like with horror and magic elements would be boss as fuck, and having a purely gun-focused character could be fun.
Kayden Bennett
Just play shadow tower abyss.
Luis Ward
Dark Souls and Bloodborne weren't "generic fantasy game" and "generic horror game" either. I like the two properties because Miyazaki is well versed in architecture, culture, ect. and it carries over to the games to enriched the story and atmosphere. Dark Tower is comparitively restrictive, because King's own views and tastes inform it's background. Snd there's a variety of differences between it and Soulsborne that anons will be happy to explain further.
A cyberpunk game, or a sci-fi game in general really, would have as engaging and unique background as Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne did, with its own world and its own themes. Provided Miyazaki had the time to research and work on it, of course.
Ethan Cox
you mean Bloodborne?
Asher Perez
only the first book was good everything after that gt bogged down with King's hangups abut marriage and god and babies
Dylan Watson
I thought it would make a good game from the first time I read it too.
Thomas Bell
But the second book was the best 2>3>4>7>5>1>crap>6
Eli Hill
Dark Souls is very blatantly inspired by Berserk. I don't see why we can't have a Dark Tower inspired game as well, considering a lot of themes fit with DaS, DeS, and BB. All of which are also Dark Fantasy.
Cyberpunk is generic as fuck and has been done a million times in vidya, and would clash horribly with the other souls games. Especially since they already have Armored Core.
A game set in a western setting, with many dark fantasy elements would be very unique and interesting. It doesn't have to be an adaptation of King's books, but something inspired by them, in the same way DaS is inspired by Berserk would be awesome. And a western lends itself well enough to having its own unique brand of architecture too. Combine that with King's brand of Creepy horror, or rather, and adaptation of it, just how Bloodborne adapted Lovecraft, and you've got a winner.
Liam Powell
What about 8
Luke Fisher
STEPHEN KING FUCKING SUCKS, ANY GAME THAT EVEN TRIES TO ADAPT HIS BLISTERED SHIT WRITING WILL BE ABSOLUTELY REVOLTING.
Nolan Nelson
Why does he suck? The Shining is one of the greatest films of all time. IT was creepy as fuck as a kid, and Dark Tower has a lot of cool concepts.
Aaron Davis
The Shining film is not anything like the book. I like IT but it suffers from a lot of the same problems all King Books do
Really cool set up and concept that falls into the same tired cliches and rushed endings. Which is exactly the problem that would plague a Dark Tower game.
Jayden Johnson
>The Shining is one of the greatest films of all time.
The first one is a film King doesn't even like. Even the original IT had to be reigned in, but at least it wasn't totally "fucked with" as he sees it.
Do love the film myself, though.
William Ross
I thought about this too as a sequel to Bloodborne taking place in the American West with monsters and demons inspired by American, Native American, Mexican, Aztec, and Voodoo folklore. >Ghost towns >Haunted plantations >Bayou swamps >Abandoned Goldmines >Salem witch hunts >Ghost trains >Civil war graveyards *ecstasy of gold plays* >Indian villages >Aztec temples >Resident Evil 4 Mexicans Gunplay could also be a larger focus of the game play, making manual aiming for head shots while in combat more viable with certain firearms having faster draw speeds and firing rates.
David Kelly
But who cares what King thinks. I never said I wanted a 1:1 adaptation of his fucking books, lol. Dark Tower has a lot of cool concepts and is a unique setting that would make for a great Fromsoft game. It's certainly much better than Cyberpunk game no. 23079.
Lovecraft was a shit fucking writier, but look at how Miyazaki adapted his ideas into Bloodborne. From did Lovecraft better than Lovecraft ever could. I'm sure they could give the Dark Tower series the same treatment.
I mean, c'mon, look at this, and picture a badass gunslinger hunting down evil wizards and fighting maddened people and dark insects and shit, while traversing a ruined wasteland with a dark tower looming over it, and tell me it isn't cool as fuck.
Say what you want about King, but the setting is cool as fuck.
Adrian Davis
Yeah, exactly, it'd be such a boss game. The added focus on Gunplay could be cool too. Have tons of different crazy guns too, a la Trigun.
Nolan Turner
If your primary takeway from the Dark Tower is "muh gunslinger" and "muh violence" then you're an idiot and didn't understand the books at all.
Blake Perez
See, I thought you were referring to a straight up adaptation of Dark Tower.
I still think a cyberpunk game could be great, but I agree. an anachronistic style like Dark Tower could lend itself well to Soulsborne.
Ayden Rodriguez
>gunslingers, and magic, and creepy horror shit. You're a little late to the party, they already did that.
Carson Gonzalez
And why would a video game adaptation be any different?
Eli Young
If your primary takeaway from smoking weed is "muh getting really high" then you're an idiot and didn't understand the drug at all
Ian Sanchez
From will be making another Souls-like games. I'm positive we will see it this E3.
Luis Rogers
>black MC
No thanks. It's not even racism but I judt can't get immersed unless I'm playing a white dude or a girl
James Clark
I haven't read the books yet. I've only read the first comic, and listened to an audiobook of the first few chapters of the first book.
Isaiah Morales
This game exist. It's called Grim Dawn.
Alexander Howard
For what it's worth, Roland is canonically white.
Josiah Fisher
this besides from already delivered a fantastic game involving a tower
Sebastian Ortiz
But Sup Forums don't read books. Especially the old ones.
John Bell
I'd rather they make some more Tenchu and Armored Core games.
Thomas Phillips
if it doesn't predate the roman empire its not old
fucking romanovs
John Fisher
Generation next, mang! Must be a young-adult-novel type of thing.
Jaxson Robinson
I unironically loved the hell out of ACV, and really wish they did more with it beyond making it Chrome Hounds 1.5. That is, the multiplayer was fun and all, but it was basically DOA; lasted maybe a few months. I'd love a more fleshed-out single player.
Benjamin Evans
I'd like for them to keep some of the concepts from ACV but the main thing that needs to go is the baby sized ACs.
Aaron White
That was one of the reasons I liked V so much, though. Skating around ruined cities and jumping from building to building was amazing. They could do some really cool things with that concept if they just got the funding for it, and I think they easily could now if they rode on the success of Souls/BB.
I know they won't, but I'd like to dream.
Jayden Stewart
...
Nolan Butler
>wanting either
All of you are disgusting. Souls should NEVER step foot into sci-fi.
Colton Young
Dark Tower isn't Scifi, it's Dark Fantasy+Western.
Xavier Wright
No, clearly the fourth book was the best. After that one the series got slowly worse until we got the garbage ending of 7.
Gavin Watson
He has a point though. The book is not about le cool western,
Jose Watson
Science fantasy that draws inspiration from shit like Dune, Hyperion, Book of the New Sun, etc.
You have ten seconds to explain why this isn't the best idea ever.
Kevin Thompson
>The Shining is one of the greatest films of all time Because it's a Kubrick film, and he took a lot of liberties with it.
Evan Jones
Second and Fourth were the best. I loved seeing what was basically a "Clint Eastwood's gunslinger visits modern age" story. And the fourth was a perfectly 10/10 prequel story.
Blake Phillips
The shining is overrated. It's not as amazing as everyone pretends. It's an entertaining film, but constantly praising it because "muh kubrick" despite not even being a Film buff/obsessor is disgusting reddit-tier fanboying.
Thomas Carter
Who cares they all play the exact fucking same anyway. If you're not burned out after 5 souls games I don't even know what to say. How about FROM makes some armored core games on PC instead.
