And you user, how's that 100% completion run coming along? Yesterday I joined the 0.3% of players who've been to every regions in the game.

yeah only 1% of the people completed it because it's shit
Half way there.
Getting the Scholar achievement sounds like it's gonna be a god damned nightmare though.
Implying reviewers aren't complete casuals nowadays.
Nah you just have to sleep with 3 specific datapearls in your tummy. I got mine by accident.
Wot.
Do you mean holding two with one in your stomach, or just having them in your habitat?
I don't know where the half way point is.
Having them in your stomach, one at a time.
See my pic, I think it doesn't really matter which pearls you have in your stomach as long as they contain some data. Most white pearls contain no data but some do. coloured pearls always contain data.
pic related.
Meeting Five Pebbles and getting the mark that lets you get past The Depths' guardians. You also get The Path achievement.
Oh.
I have no idea what that is either.
I'm in a dark, red place full of things that seem like they want to kill me.
This, we only let AAA devs shill their shit around here!
quick shilldown pls
game is fucking shit, check unique IPs
Dark? Sounds like the Shaded Palace, but it's not really red. Oh wait I know, you're in the Filtration System of Subterranean, there are black "blind" lizards around, right?
Well you're really close from The Depths, but you cannot get through it without Five Pebbles' mark. Did you meet Moon? The yellow watcher will usually try to guide you toward Five Pebbles after you see her.
>devs adding markings on the map to help players find hibernation chambers.
Glad I beat the game before the 1.01 patch made it easy.
Well, every part of the game is full with things that wants you dead
2D platformer focusing on stealth and outplaying the ecosystem.
It can be pretty harsh and unforgiving at times which is the main reason why reviewers don't like it.
>Waaah stop talking about vidya on Sup Forums REEEEEE
Back to your shitposting general faggots
Devs been working on this game since 2011, and it's apparently their first real big game, so they made a few game design mistakes, but they already fixed most in this week's patch (for instance, you no longer lose the map of everything you explored since your last checkpoint on death)
I haven't met anyone or anything.
Looks like I'm fucked.
docs.google.com
Can you retrace your steps on this map? From the Outskirts you're supposed to head up toward Industrials, then Shaded Palace, then Shorline. Looks like you went down instead.
ok dl right now
>stop saying bad things about my game
poster count didn't increase
there's really only 4 people in these threads doing back and forth autism
Every time you get a "path" achievement, you get a "passage". Which is a free one-time use fast travel toward any hibernation chamber you've been? You can use that as a "get out of jail" card.
Did you 4 guys already got bored of hollow knight?
I'm not against criticizing the game, its about >le shill meme that is fucking annoying, although i admit your post has nothing to do with that
>ywn never have a battle royal mode with other player slugcats to see who is the superior survivor
at least we'll have 4 player local coop
I keep hearing about that game whenever I make a Rain World thread, but I had never seen anything of it. Now that I've checked the steam page and some gameplay video I see that this game has nothing at all to do with Rain World.
Or are you one of those guys who also pretend that the character is an Ori ripoff even though it was created at least 4 years prior?
I have yet to unlock a single path achievement, but I'll remember that for later.
I'll try. I saved after the karma gate so I hope I have enough karma to go back.
Thanks guys. I'll give it another go later.
The Survivor is the easiest one to unlock, you only have to hibernate 5 times while your karma is already at max (you need to hibernate 4 times in a row without dying to reach max karma). You need that one to unlock other paths.
>People complain about controls
>'Controls aren't bad'
I mean, I've never seen anyone complain about controls in a game where the controls are good
>each of these region is two dozens area of death and fucking nothing and their only purpose is to pad the game
No thanks
What's this game like anyway? I watched the trailer and it looks like shit. Is it a metroidvania? Platformer? Puzzle game?
Which achievement are you counting as being the halfway point, out of interest?
it is kind of shit, it's really hard though and really pretty, but yeah
I'd say The Journey.
Just met Moon. Should I get myself lit up for future trips through the shaded citadel, or be a nice slugcat? Probably unlikely to bother pumping her for lore this playthrough, will maybe do an achievements playthrough later, so leaning toward getting myself enlightened.
>three buttons
>for some reason the most used in awkwardly in the middle for your middle finger
>the least used is the biggest
>no option to change to WASD
>no option to change controls at all really
i dont hate them but i can see the complaints
metroidvania/survival/stealth/souls
The Journey
See those pearls? You can trade them with scavengers for reddish held light sources, so you won't need enlightenment.
Might as well then, yeah. I personally don't because I like the added challenge of going through the Citadel without enlightenment
how is that added challenge to have one of your hands busy holding something?
Speaking of achievements, is it true you can't get Pilgrimage if you meet Five Pebbles before finding one of the...things? If so, can see why that one is so low.
Because I use the blue crystals and usually carry a pearl in my slugcat. Fuck spiders.
That's what I heard as well. Kind of a bummer, I've already met 4 of the 6 echoes.
Worst is that you can't understand them if you haven't met Five Pebbles, so you gotta deprive yourself of lore to get the achievement.
>metroidvania
You don't need specific items or power-ups to unlock areas
>Platformer
It lacks a some of the things one might expect in a platformer. The physics of the character can make movement feel imprecise.
>Puzzle game
Not really, no. Its more like a giant maze.
>You don't need specific items or power-ups to unlock areas
Yes you do, pic related
I just pirated it yesterday.
No clue what the fuck I'm doing but it's been fun learning all the different ways to die. A thunderstorm killed me just a few seconds ago.
>thunderstorm
What
When you hold down spacebar, see those white dots around your karma level in the bottom left? It's the number of minutes until the next rain.
The rain. I heard the ground shake and saw that the uncovered areas looked distorted from the rain which I guessed meant I was safe as long as I remained underneath a roof. Then the whole screen became distorted and I died.
Now a red tentacle disguised as a pole sucked me into the ground.
'Power-up' is sort of an awkward term for that. It's a plot check point, key and power-up.
You also need use animals in the environment and spear ladders to get places, but I feel like calling anything a power-up misleads people into thinking that you get stronger permanently.
The game is a balls hard metroidvania. Reviewers only like easy games they can beat in one sitting so they can shit out a review and start the next one. Casuals.
You can get permanent illumination, and I even heard of permanent max karma. Probably once you've met every echoes.
>finally get enough karma to get through a gate
>die
>spawn back at old place
>gate closed
No wonder reviewers hate it, doubt they got past the first one, game is properly punishing. Also fuck those croc assholes that camp exits.
well, making my way down the wall; looks like there's a karma gate, and a path down, that leads to what looks like the underhang/leg, with a save point and a path which looks to me to be inaccessible. am i just supposed to go through the gate?
>all the yellow reviews boil down to "whhaaahh too hard"
>lowest one is by Polygon
You can just dance around crocs once you realize how stupid they really are. imgur.com
>Bringing neurons back through The Wall instead of backtracking through Underhang->The Leg
You're only making this harder on yourself. You cannot get back through Five Pebbles from here though. You can only go through Chimney Canopy to get back to the rest of the world.
Go down once in Chimney Canopy, eventually you'll reach the Industrial area and familiar territory.
>local
Trash
>got to Garbage Wastes
>right after the Industrial Complex
I think I fucked up

JUST A REMINDER THAT IF YOU ARE SHITTING ON THIS GAME,
>GIT GUD
so I somehow got a "survivor" achievement, it seems like it let me fast travel, but only once, I can't seem to trigger it again for some reason.
not only that but I've no idea what the "chieftain", "monk" and "saint" bars do. all I figure is that you have to fulfill some sort of criteria before sleeping, like not killing anything.
Passage is a unique ability that lets you teleport to specific Habitats you've slept in in major areas of the game. It also sets your Karma to max.
You get 1 use per Achievement.
And yes, that's exactly what you gotta do.
Chieftain is all about befriending Scavengers.
Monk is all about eating fruits and veggies and popcorn, but never animals.
Saint is all about not killing stuff.
Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go back to trying to get through the Leg.
Chieftain
Make friends with the scavengers. Give them pearls and the progress bar will go up for a lot, you can give them other things like spears or bombs, but this will give you less progress
Monk
Eat only vegetables or fruit
Saint
Don't pick any fights
Friend
Make friends with lizards and hibernate with one 3 times
Dragon Slayer
Kill every type of lizard: Green, Purple; Blue, White, Orange, Red
The Hunter
Eat only meat? or maybe kill something each time? im not sure
The Wanderer
Go to every region in the game
Thats everything i know for now
I see, that's a bit of a letdown, I wish I'd known that before I used it for no reason
thanks mate, I'll keep those in mind
>The Wanderer
You get progress towards it for sleeping in specific Habitats across the world.
how do you give trolls spears etc without throwing them, i keep aggroing them?
Down+eat
Down+eat drops the object
Also double tap eat and you can change wich hand youre holding something. You launch things with the right hand first
>finally find the next rest point
>starts to rain
>didn't bother collecting food this time because I'm mostly just exploring until rain starts 3-15 minutes from when I start
>die of hunger
The game has some utterly terrible design choices such as painful backtracking and nearly unpreventable RNG deaths, but also a lot of shit to explore and the core game is pretty "fun".
Don't listen to the "just git gud, casul" bullshit, though. The game IS bullshit. Fun bullshit, but it is undeniably hampered by shitty decisions such as karma, limiting fast travel to few times per game and mandatory backtracking.
It genuinely is a 5-6/10 game, but it has potential to be 8/10.
The main characters do look pretty similar except for how low-poly rainworld is.
Give them anything other than spears a first. If you duck in front of them, they usually don't throw stuff at you.
thx
once more unto the breach
the patch fixed a bunch of problems, like for instance now there will always be a karma flower where you died last
>Monk:Eat only vegetables or fruit
How does this work ?
Like is there a time where it reset or if I eat a bat at the beginning im locked out forever ?
>tfw got to Depths instead of following the yellow dude to the main quest
HELP
If you eat a bat you loss progress, i don't remember if it was the full bar or just a segment though, and you have to do it all over again
Its a streak based achievement, when you start doing it it will show you how much you progressed.
i think it's between sleeps, not for the whole game
The only decent way out is back through Filtration and then up through Subterranean.
You're better off starting over completely.
>cute looking game that people say is hard
>expect something fun like Shelter
>it's just a metroidvania
an easy mistake to make
metroidvania you get stronger as you explore
this game you get wiser
>expect something fun like Shelter
They are planning on adding a new narrative focusing on keeping a trio of slugcat pups alive by teaching them how to hunt and stay alive n shit
>literally about to post this gif
I had a passage thing saved ('The Saint') stored so I warped out to Shoreline since I heard on here that's where the actual progress happens with a robot girl.
There is no sanctuary for you here, Taiko and son.
>it's just a metroidvania
Please stop spreading this meme. It's NOT a metroidvania, it's basically an open-world 2D platformer. You DON'T need any upgrades to get to any area and there are only like 1 or 2 to get in the whole game.
I recently learned that daddy long legs (the tentacle rape monster) can go through pipes. At least level change pipes.
I am sorry in advance.
It's easier to get into Shoreline than it is to get out.
Something you gotta do for "muh lore" if you want it will require carrying a Neuron in your hand from a horrible horrible place at the center of the world all the way to Moon. And Passage removes the Neuron from your hand.
Is it mandatory or optional?
Entirely optional.
>He made it
That's the kind of shit in this game that makes it pretty enjoyable despite some boring bullshit.
The part that gets me is how the Scav loses his spear, the Tentacle Demon catches it, juggles it for a while before the majestic Stoat takes it back and uses it to escape.
it's for 5 cycles I think
Could someone sell me on the game? What's it you like about it?
suffering, despair, bitterness
It's a conjunction of things.
>Game is quite pretty
>Game gives you all the tools you need
>Occasionally, the game just says "fuck you" which is annoying, but not a deal breaker
>Game is very open-ended in exploration
>Lore is interesting when you finally get some
Non-scripted AI, atmosphere, enemies are spooky, "physically animated" 2D. I'm a real sucker for the last one especially.
