Tries to be too much of a fast paced shooter with the RE4 control scheme.
Africa is a pretty shitty setting for RE.
Not enough spooky stuff.
Other than that, solid game.

Was a carbon copy of RE4, but didn't quite know why what worked in RE4 worked.
That said, it's still tons and tons of fun, especially with a friend.
Would have been GOAT with a merchant and hub town.

They literally reused the RE4 animations for virtually everything apart from cutscenes. As soon as I saw that when I played it I realised the game wasn't made to be good, but to cash in on RE4 hypefags.
I think the damage reactions were better in RE4.
RE4 had better level design as well.
No inter-connectivity. It's all divided into Chapters with no manual backtracking.
Forced co-operation, even without a partner, you're stuck with AI.
Removed suitcase and inventory management, which follows suit with streamlining the game, removing singleplayer function.

Basically 4 but less good with coop, that said I still liked it a lot. Good times with my bro in the campaigns and mercenaries.
Pretty much only fun in co-op. This is an issue, considering every mainline RE game focused on single player up until that point.

I mean they had such a good thing going that could have revamped the entire franchise with Tricell buying Umbrella and Excella being in control with Wesker as her bodyguard basically. Then you also have the whole side story with Wesker actually putting up with Excella and her saying she's his queen that they could have played up in subsequent games. But nope you just throw it all away like idiots and have to resort to

i prefer slow albeit more tactical pace of RE 4. No pause during inventory management (which is also simplified for no reason) is shit

Nothing. It's a great game. Probably my favorite RE game, but I actually have real friends to play with.
They took the wrong lesson from RE4 (People really liked shooting people in third person) without the many many many big and small details surrounding shooting people that made RE4 work
and then they also made it less satisfying to play with a walking "I'm not racist" billlboard that uses up all your items and is somehow way more annoying than ashely a literal escort mission with a shrill voice
