Let's start off with an easy one
Lore Thread
Aw fuck, I just visited it a few hours ago, got dem feels and now you have to remind me this again.
Damn I wish I could afford a switch
>not using the Oot set
...
Thats pretty neat.
...
how did the ranch survive for over 10K years?
...
Where does this Zelda fall on the timeline?
p sure he is tho
What is the point of this?
it doesn't, they made a new one
STANDING
he is using the twilight princess set
timelines converged to make a new one
This zelda basically said "There is no timeline you fucking nerds"
ON THE EDGE
OF THE CRATER
I would think way after the Wind Waker timeline. Only reason for that are the Korok only look that way because of the great flood.
They basically made this game feel like its far in the future in order to give them more room to make more games
The ranch's fence survived but almost none of the major landmarks did. OK Nintendo.
THE MAN
...
It has the Springs from skyward sword, meaning it's the same land, so, nope. Can't be after WW.
At the very end. With a convergence of all 3.
>Hyrule being in this much disrepair
>There being enough time for there to have been a hyper advanced Sheikah civilization that rose, fell, was lost, then rediscovered.
>All the references in this game to every other game so far.
>Ganon being a mindless giant mass of pure rage energy, suggesting Demise got so tired of losing every cycle across all of time he decided to stop taking a physical form and just went with pure power.
>The Master Sword actually losing the power to repel evil every so often if you over-use it, and it then has to recharge, suggesting that it's nearing the end of its timeless usefulness.
>Zelda having near 0 connection to Hylia's power, despite being this cycle's reincarnation.
>Also, she ends up having to use the Triforce itself to finish the fight instead of Hylia's power, using it to destroy Demise permanently.
Thus, this is the Zelda of the End Time.
Child
>Tfw I've been there and didn't even make the connection
Boy I'm retarded
Poor Deku kid.
The forest music from Breath of Fire 3 is a tribute to the forest music in Chrono Trigger.

The only "lore" here is the inverted triforce, the rest is just stuff that happened
Christine is Veronica's ex gf.
It doesn't reference Wind Waker other than having koroks but that doesn't mean anything. The "ancient sea" is not a reference to Wind Waker either. It probably takes place long after the NES Zelda's.
...
:O
Koroks only evolved from the Kokiri in WW, and the same with the Zora evolving into the Rito.
There still being Zora suggests that perhaps only the ocean Zora evolved, since the river Zora are still in BotW.
Plus there's other references, like Tingel Island and Linebeck Island.
>yellow hearts become useless after getting Max health
Fucking hell
...
River Zora are nothing like the ones in Zora Domain. The river Zora were the ones misspelled as Zola in Zelda 1 who were enemies.
I thought it was river zora who evolved, because of being unable to deal with the salt water?
Yeah but it also means that any kind of Hearty item can bring you from 1/4th of a heart all the way to max when cooked.
The Chaos Emeralds look they way that they do because, when they briefly became the Super Emeralds, they changed their shape from the blocky gemstones that they were in the first two games, to the Master Emerald-shaped ones we have now.
When the Emeralds became the Super Emeralds, they adopted the form of the M:E and, when they reduced back to their original power output, they retained that shape.
Just beat this game yesterday.
Fuck wizrobes, fuck like likes, and fuck those annoying balls that don't do any damage.
What does that have to do with lore? Are you pointing at how Zelda shares Links colors whenever he gets a new ring or something?
Nothing, but pic related and that swastika shaped dungeon tells me Miyamoto never got over World War 2.
Speaking about the old man. Next time you play try to hit him with your sword.
>All this time OoT link had 6 fucking belts on his gear plus the sword sheath strap
for what purpose?
>6 fucking belts
I see 2, what are you on?
Explain? All I see are two.
Belts are cool
Does he just throw fire balls at you?
Miscount
Actually 3 belts
and 4 straps on his gloves
Yup
...
Greeting, OP.
4chans is not of moneys.
Optimize images you postings of futures.
Many thanks.
Can't be Adult timeline because it's clearly the same land as in OoT.
It must be at the end of the timeline, because Ganon specifically uses up his power of resurrection in a last attempt to defeat Link
However, in Zelda 1 and 2, Zoras have evolved to become monsters, Christianity is the religion of Hyrule, and because of the name of the timeline in Hyrule Historia ("The Last Hero"), I would guess that the Link of Zelda 1 and 2 is in fact the last hero in this timeline.
Finally, there is a reference to the Master Sword having gone through the skies, through time, and through twilight.
So, I would guess that BotW is at the very end of the Child timeline. But it leaves a lot of room for other games.
Huh?
Wanted the Tales audience
That's not lore, that's just Nintendo re-using assets to save time and money.
And how do you get three? One actual belt, and one for the sword.
I'm pretty sure they said that Koroks were just a design choice because they're familiar to people who have played Zelda games.
I dunno if that includes the Rito though.
>complaining about 3mb
get better internet
>Christianity is the religion of Hyrule
You're looking too far into it. It was just a shield design.
Breath of the Wild has to be a convergence timeline. While it isn’t immediately clear from the game itself, logic forces your hand if you try to integrate the other games into BOTW.
In the Adult timeline, old Hyrule is abandoned and completely washed away, thus there’s no reason for the Temple of Time or Lon-Lon Ranch ruins to exist.
In the Downfall timeline, Ganon was destroyed and needed resurrection. This would mean the cycle of reincarnation was broken before BOTW. However, this would be contradicted by Zelda’s line during the final boss fight.
The Child timeline seems like the least buggered, but it doesn’t fit either. Despite being able to traverse all of Hyrule field, the Lon-Lon Ranch is completely gone, as is the Temple of Time. Why would ruins of things that were gone in TP return after more than 10,000 years?
This is where things get Timey-Wimey. We’ll start with the idea of the Arrow of Time. In physics it’s the handwave for why time is so orderly. Time could happen in any possible arrangement, and it actually defies probability that we experience things in a strictly causal manner (A so B so C so D). Everything could happen all at once, or things could loop, or things could happen now because of something that hasn’t happened yet. It seems strange to us, but outside of the arrow of time, there’s no reason a broken glass can’t unbreak.

is boring empty world called "lore" now?
cont.
Alright, so here’s the thing. The arrow of time can’t be split. You can’t have multiple universe configurations overlapping each other at the same time. Either you create entirely new universes (multiverse theory), or failed timelines converge back into the “Prime” universe. What does that convergence look like? How would you reconcile conflicting histories? Well, it may look like the Mandela effect.
In short, an unconfirmed phenomenon where people swear they remember histories that conflict with physical proof of the Prime history. Mona Lisa’s smile, Sex in The City’s name, and of course the death of Nelson Mandela are the best examples of this phenomena. Whether the effect is real or not, it does describe timeline convergence very well. Physical artifacts of one timeline overwrites another as they collapse on themselves to create a “new” history for the Prime universe.
This leads us back to Breath of the Wild. Somewhere, or rather somewhen, along the 10,000+ years preceding Breath of the Wild, the temporary rift caused by the Ocarina collapsed. Whether this was a limitation of the Ocarina or a result of Sheikah fucking with things during the technological era is unclear. Whatever the cause, the timelines couldn’t stay separate and collapsed on one another.
Components from each timeline began crashing into the Prime, and so long as there were no direct contradictions they assimilated into the Prime universe. Rito and tree Koroks from the Adult timeline, as well as preserved ruins that were sealed beneath the great sea arrive in the Prime. The Master Sword’s resting place in the Lost Woods integrated into the Prime. The mirror of Twilight and the seven sage statues are sprung into existence. However, when a contradiction occurs, elements shift until they fit, hence the changes in geography and “retroactive” changes like Hylia’s statues and fading memories of the golden goddesses.
Play the game before you shitpost.
You have churches in Zelda 2 too. And the religion of Hyrule in ALttP seems to pretty much be Christianity but with the Golden Goddesses and the Triforce instead of God and the cross (and artwork still has Link praying to a crucifix).
To be fair, Hylia didn't even really exist until SS so we can assume that there probably would be references to her in other games had she existed.
3MB * every person that views it.
Bandwidth isn't free and Sup Forums isn't made of money.
The Big Horse is Ganondorf's horse from OoT.
I'm going to clear my browser's cache and reload the image as many times as I can before I get bored
This place is fine. Don't fall for the lies.
I don't get it.
>giving a shit about bandwidth
>in 2017
okay extra credits, move along now

>extract energy from planet
>convert it to power
>from a game regarded as one of the all time best
Problem with BotW being in the child timeline is that there's texts saying Ruto awoke as a sage to help the hero fight ganon. She never did that in the child timeline.
Honestly it doesn't fit anywhere. They don't care.
At least we know Lulu is pure, despite her posturing.
No quickies for her.
There was this game called Final Fantasy VII
Now the VII isn't actually a thing you pronounce it's actually a seven in roman numerals
See, at the time they had made six previous games and this was the seventh one
This is where things get confusing. In the US and in Japan, the first game was released as Final Fantasy I. Now, the I is a roman numeral one. It's not Final Fantasy Eye, like you might think.
The second and third games came out in Japan on the Famicom, but didn't come out in the US on the NES.
Now, the Famicom is like the NES but it's Japanese. The cartridges are different though.
There was a disk add-on for the Famicom that took floppy disks.
So when Final Fantasy IV (four, not i've) came out on the Super Famicom, which is like the SNES but Japanese, it was release as Final Fantasy II on the SNES. They also made it way easier, because American gamers are casuals.
This was weird because actually it was the fourth game in the series.
They also didn't bring Final Fantasy V to the west, but they did bring Final Fantasy VI over, except over here they called in Final Fantasy III, even though the real Final Fantasy III came out on the Famicom years ago.
When they got to Final Fantasy VII, they decided to have the same name for both the Japanese and US release.
There's this company in Final Fantasy VII called Shinra that is extracting life force from the planet.
If I recall correctly the lead writer who wrote ff7 also wrote ffx-2 and made allusions that the Shinra from ffx-2 founded the Shinra company which in the far future eventually travels to another planet the siphon the energy from that planet
No, but Link told the royal family about everything that happened while he was an adult.
>there are people that don't think the cdi games are canon
D E E P E S T
...
The texts clearly said it happened though. They wouldn't write lore about something a child told the royal family.
What does the painting represent?
You mean the texts written recently about events that happened tens of thousands of years ago? And they would write lore about the child with a sacred artifact on his hand that saves you from Ganondorf.
Swastikas did not originate from nazi germany.
FX is a long past prequel to VII, taking place on a different planet. While it doesn't serve as a true prequel, it does share the same universe.
>he can't afford unlimited data
Kinda looks like the ruins you fight Quiet in.
The sheikah used their technology and converged the 3 timelines back into one (since in all 3 Hyrule as a kingdom was doomed).
Breath of the Wild takes place long after that.
kek
really though, I'm not that familiar with the CD-i games, is that Hyrule or is that Gamelon or whatever the setting of that one was?
There' s a reason why the kingdom moved north, even in the child timeline.
The gerudo wouldn' t let Ganondorf get captured without a fight. OoT Hyrule was still destroyed.
Boot buckles.
Not actually belts.
It has Ritos, it has Koroks, it has the blue "Hero' s Clothes".
The Rito village bgm is a remix of Dragon Roost.
Then why did Shrina pay Cid to struggle to create a rudimentary rocket to barely orbit Earth? Shit lore
No wonder the moon is pissed; the mask salesman took his soul.
Don' t forget that almost every river, mountain or forest is named after characters or places from all 3 timelines.
It's more of a reference or FFVII pandering if anything. All of the mainline FFs have their own universe, even if something like FFXIV rips off a lot of the individuality from them, like having Ivalice (FFXII) in Hydaelyn (FFXIV's earth).
I never realized this. Poor Johnny.
