Yooka-Laylee

In all seriousness, are you still looking forward to it?

Yep. Bought my copy last week and gifted to a friend today

I wish they made the console version 60 FPS just like the PC version is, but yes.

Yes.
PC leak when

Sure. I backedthe game expecting a N64-era Rare collectathon and it sounds like that's exactly what I'm getting. Other people thinking those kinds of games are old news and shit won't make me stop liking them

Also getting it on PC so the performance problems are a non-issue for me

I stopped having hopes for it when I saw that casino level. It looks like ass.

That casino level is the only one that has looked like ass, though. The rest have been pretty glorious.

Well that's your paid opinion and you can have it.

thejimquisition.com/yooka-laylee-review/

No. I'm keeping my money.

>Jim Sterling

He blatantly doesn't like Banjo-styled games. If you feel the same then that's definitely a review to listen to. If not though then it's completely useless

No. It took too much from Tooie, when it should have looked and the first instead. They went with the bigger is better route, even though that lessens the product. The map should be dense as fuck

>Jim Sterling

I'm really excited. I backed the digital version and it's looked good through development.

Meant for

...

Jim's a fag with shit opinions

kek

I sure feel bad for your friend then.

THE PAGIES IN CAGIES

Nah, my hype died out after seeing all the recent footage from the game. I'm glad I didn't preorder

Busy with Persona 5. Plus I heard it's not that good.

...

I want to FUCK Dr. Puzz

Tooie was the better game, and also wasn't nearly as empty as the five (FIVE) worlds in YL.

If you liked Banjo, you'll like this

I agree. It seems like they tried too hard to recreate what worked than try something new, and failed at recognizing why it worked

That design is fucking atrocious

Yes, but I'll pirate it

...

Are you guys concerned in any way by the... let's say, lukewarm reviews? 5s and 6s from some pretty prominent websites like Polygon.

I want to ram my cock into that lizard.

Dr. Puzz is a cute. CUTE!

i'll torrent it i guess

+1
The levels look too wide open.

no, the designs are nickelodeon junior tier. grow up.

Yep.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize I was talking to a retard.

I'm almost sure it's gonna be my personal GOTY, so yeah.

>pretty prominent websites like Polygon

The problems with the reviews is that they don't say anything regarding the game itself but rather instead talk about the reviewer's beef with the genre entirely. The only "factual" points that come out of these are cameras and (on console) performance problems, the rest being hatewank over how collecting things, but they explain nothing in depth. So, yeah, not concerned at all.

this bait is too obvious user

>still responds to it
You probably didn't even sage either, faggot.

Not at all. A reviewer's opinion means nothing to me because the reviewer has a different taste and mindset than I do. Whether they loved or hated a game is irrelevant to me. The only opinions I will consider when deciding whether to try a game is that of someone I personally know and whose tastes are of a match to mine, as that's the only case where I can go "Oh, if they liked this game, I'll probably like it" or "Oh, if they thought it was shit, I probably won't like it either"

Other than that, I'll see for myself. It's also not too hard to satisfy me as long as some elements I love are there, and from what I have seen so far of the game, I think I will still enjoy this.

Read most of them already. Only real concerns I have is the camera. I'm getting the PC version so I don't have much worries about performance. I'm an oldfag that's been wanting a new Banjo game since this trailer dropped and fooled everyone.

Jim's an ass who slams games with unnecessarily low scores just so he can cause controversy and shitpost on Twitter. He's a good example of the problem with game journalism. They don't give their own opinion, they give the opinion that will result in the most pageviews.

>This thread
>all these paid shills

Get the fuck out.

The primary complaints were about camera controls and performance issues, both of which are being fixed in a Day 1 patch.

Jon wants this game to do well. Get out Sup Forums

Fuck off Jim.

Most of the reviews say it is just a very mediocre 3D platformer

I like the genre enough so I will probably have a good enough time but not that great

Yes and you shitposters can't stop me.

>Fallout 4 - 9.5/10
>Horizon Zero Dawn - 9.5/10
>Watch Dogs 2 - 9/10
>Dead Rising 4 - 8/10
>Vanquish 5/10

what did he mean by this?

I got my key for it

Now I see its full launch price and I'm thinking of selling my key for say 30 bucks. Would be a 15 bucks profit for me.

You know why they don't explain anything in-depth? Because these fucking reviewers hardly even play the game before they decide "Welp, time to write my review." I have no fucking idea why they're allowed to do this, you don't see a film critic review a fraction of a movie. The only time I have any faith in a review is if the site explicitly has a completion policy for reviews.

When you're a legitimate cuckold, you have something severely wrong with your brain.

All the complaints I ever heard were "it's exactly Banjoo-Kazooie".

That means I'll fucking love it then. So yes I am looking forward to it.

>some pretty prominent websites like Polygon
just in case you're serious - Polygon is the last website anyone should take seriously.
and all the negative reviews are completely substanceless and bitch about non-issues like pic related

I don't even get why that's a complaint. I thought Banjo-Kazooie was one of the most beloved games of the N64 era.

We don't give a shit, he didn't deserve to be taken out for his factually correct views.

Absolutely. Banjo-Kazooie is one of my all time faves, I couldn't give less of a shit about politics, and I learned to put up with bad cameras three generations ago.

Yooka-Laylee seems to be a decent game in an aged genre, whereas MN9 was an awful game in a classic genre. I'm buying it

I only had 2 problems with the banjo series.

Performance sucked in some levels, playing on PC means this isnt a problem.
Grunty Industries can go fuck itself, I'm really good at creating mental maps as I explore but that place broke me with how its connections worked.

As long as these 5 giant worlds are cohesive and built in a realistic way with minimal screen transitions I'll like it. Hell Fire peaks is great for instance because I can clearly make a mental map as I explore each side.

One more thing, so there are 5 worlds right? Is that counting the hub? Because in tooie especially the hub itself was one hell of a level.

Freedom of speech=/=Freedom of consciousness. Even Jon understands this. Companies do this all the time.

Team17 however can fuck off.

Not sure if I want to play the game myself or sell the key for money.

I'm worried the game will just be "eh", especially the casino stage seems gay.

they were factually incorrect though. The study he cited was one that was actually about VICTIM rates, not culprit rates. So yes, he did deserve to be taken out for being proven as both retarded and evil.

Actually I'm pretty sure there are 7 worlds.

The only legitimate reviews I came across to so far were from GameXplain and the reviewer from PC gamer. They actually gave legitimate criticism instead of bullshit like Jim did because it seems like they enjoy the type of Genre Yooka-Laylee is, instead of giving us bullshit. I don't care much about scores.

Also, Polygon sucks. I wouldn't touch that website with a 10 foot pole. has a point, too. reviewers who half-ass things and don't enjoy a certain type of genre like YL should not review a thing. If I didn't like collectathon video games, I sure as hell wouldn't be getting it at all.

There's 5 worlds that you can expand later on. Probably will be more when DLC rolls around.

>Freedom of consciousness
>consciousness

Is that one the tranny?

Not really. All the political bullshit around it will cloud my perception of the amount of fun I'm having.

I'll pirate it, but I won't buy it unless it's good.

>We don't care about how Jon personally feels
>We will fight even if it's against his own wishes because we know better

...

>7 worlds
Well fuck me, now I'm excited again.

Does that include the hub though? Because if not thats 6 worlds.

don't think so, that was a different one

Kind of. Not going to pay $40 for it though. Will probably get it once it goes on sale though. Hopefully A Hat in Time comes out soon since I actually backed that one.

Not including Hub. If you include the Hub and Yooka/Laylee's pirate ship then it's 7.

I never was. It looks dumb.
From the reviews out, doesn't look like I'm missing much either way

is this banjo kazooie

>Yooka/Laylee's pirate ship
Is this like the spiral mountain tutorial?
If so then I dont count it, if the hub is like tooie then fuck yeah 6 worlds to expand and explore.

Why even bother pirating if you're gonna make shit up?

You can tell the reviews are bullshit written by modern retarded trannies and literal cuckolds like Jim, I was never worried even for a second. Them hating the game means I'll love it.

that trailer taught me to never buy a console before the game you want comes out. That trailer sold me on this and then two years later we got fucking nuts & bolts.

youtube.com/watch?v=OkUhw4guLSw

Unless its just decoration then the pirate ship area will have treasure chests and collectables too.

Man, that little ship they live in looks comfy as fuck.

Let's not forget
>Firewatch - 8/10
>Breath of the Wild - 7/10

There's 5 worlds, but the worlds expand later in the game and give you more to explore. That expansion is big enough that the reviewers weren't allowed to for example show expanded World 1 in their reviews.

>Jim gives Sonic Colors a 4/10
>Sega sends him this

Best thing Sega has ever done.

I got my digital copy the other night and am going to try it today sometime (probably tonight because the weather is nice for a change so I'm getting some exercise).

Despite all the shitposting, none of that stuff means anything to me, and I went with the bare-minimum support tier ($15) to get a digital copy so it's not that much a hit if it doesn't live up to expectations.

Actually, truth be told I don't have much expectation to begin with because I only have the vaguest memories of the Banjo-Zooie games as a kid, so I went into it thinking more or less "a 3d platformer; haven't played one of those in a while!"

forgot pic

I don't get this aged genre description. What is aged about collectathon/platformers?

This still bums me out.

Because literal autism. The sperg thinks that if he pirates it, he's killing the company.

but nuts and bolts was good

>That expansion is big enough that the reviewers weren't allowed to for example show expanded World 1 in their reviews.
To follow up on that, here's an example of that
youtu.be/T1LNDsl3HJE?t=262

Trailer was a bait and switch though. No cars are anywhere in it.

Alright cool, thanks for the info and actually discussing the game.

I had a feeling reviewers werent able to see the worlds in their real form.

Shit I remember one reviewer complaining about how the requirements to enter later worlds and the final showdown got ridiculously expensive. Thats good to me because BK did the same thing and I liked it.

I'm still of the opinion that MN9 isn't awful, just not particularly great.
The Mega Man series has been always like that. Some great games, but some decidedly "okay" ones. MN9 fits in the later category and that pisses people off because the wait was so long and the budget so big that by all rights it should have been one of the best.

But I personally didn't pay for it and didn't take any interest in it until it was almost out so for me it scratched the itch.

>everything I dislike is a bait and switch!

3 million is not even a relatively big budget in 2017 though.

What's so trolly about it?
