>Rival gets to the final boss before you
>gets defeated
>"Its up to you now."
>the last fight's music is a remix of the main title music
>the first level is destroyed
>flashback section where you visit the first level before it is destroyed
Never happened.
>last level is right behind were the starting point was
did happens
>last level of the 3rd game is a collection of all the levels in the 1st game
Whut
Is from pokemans, I believe.
>First level/area gets destroyed, corrupted and filled with new enemies
>But it's never brought up again by the story
>visit a location from the first game in a later game
>it's destroyed and in terrible shape
>not because a villain wrecked the place, it's just that time has taken its toll
OP's example happened in W101
>The first level of the sequel is the last level of the previous game
>Villain was originally a friend
>Villain tries to get you on their side
While not the final area, Cave Story has you revisit the destroyed Egg Corridor later in the game.
>first level is a preview of the last level
>last level is the first level but there's a new area that you couldn't access before
>The last level is the first level of another game
>It was a prequel all along
Name literally 7 games where this happens.
Doesn't count fag.
>The fight with the last boss takes place at the first stage of the first game
>a dream sequence in which you can not win
>final boss battle is your twin brother that's been lost to the darkness
>He thanks you for killing him so he can finally be at peace
...
>the church is the real villain
>character is an asshole to you the entire game
>becomes a bad guy
>you get punished if you kill him, cause he was just confused
I fucking love that painting
>can't name a singe game where any of that happened.
Get out loser
>beat final boss
>he reveals his true form
>true final battle begins
>defeat the main villain
>main villain tells you that your friend was the villain all along
>confront friend
>his motives cause harm but are for the greater good of the world
>the church is evil
>angels are enemies
>demons are good guys
Thanks, Japan.
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
>final boss explains his plan and tries to get you to step down
>you can agree
>he kills you and erects a shitty statue in your honour
Dark Souls 3?
>The big evil conglomerate is actually pretty chill
>They thank you for exposing & stopping the villain who was diverting funds for his evil plans
>the first boss is the final boss
The religion is good but the organization of the church that practices it has become corrupted
>The God of the religion chooses you to cleanse the church so it can be pure again
Straight kino
I loved mgs4 for this.
>music changes to a much spookier one
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Mom 3
To be fair, Suikoden IV really REALLY shat on Snowe well before he did anything to deserve it (but when he did, did he ever).
Pretty much everything was his dad's fault.
>You fight your twin brother
>YOU are the one lost to darkness
>You lose (non-scripted battle)
>You now have to use the good twin to beat the final boss with the skills from both borthers.
>The game LITERALLY ends when you land the final blow to the final boss with just a freeze-frame mid-battle with the words "The End".
>you're supposed to get destroyed by the first boss but if you beat them you get special bonuses, be it special items or cutscenes
...
>defeat main villain
>only the start of the beginning of the end of the game
>defeat true final boss
>become everyone else's final boss
>the start menu displays a scene from the very end of the game
I was talking about Jedi Academy
RTCW
>Can't progress without first wearing a collar and pretending to be a man-dog, obeying your mistress' every command, no matter how degrading or humiliating.
>Final boss is the ultimate evil
>Boss can't actually die because it would bring ruin to the world
>That feeling you know what is going to happen
>beating the last boss lets you return to all the old areas, and the NPC's remark on your victory
I was really disappointed when BotW didn't go this route. What games do this?
Dead Space?
But Rosh wasn't an asshole to Jaden.
>Last level is the first level destroyed
Pillar of Autumn and The Maw
not an argument
Fucking Japan
Imagine if every other western cartoon had sunni islam as the main bad guys or something.
>think you beat the game and surprised at how abrupt the ending was
>tfw completely wrong
>Game ends with villain's henchman shooting them in the face
>you're supposed to get destroyed by the first boss but if you beat them you DON'T get special bonuses
...
>First stage is an unfathomable curbstomp of a battle that you can only run away from
>Despite being up against some of the strongest shit in the game, it's actually possible to win without cheating
>game requires a microphone
>can only beat final boss by saying "MOMMY I WANT MILKIES" in an increasingly desperate voice, until you're outright begging.
My personal GOTY of 2015.
Ace Attorney?
Oh shit I forgot about that one.
Absolute god-tier
>the last level is credits
>Game starts at the end then flashes to the where you actually start
I blame Japs
>final stage has fully grown version of first stage enemy
>The intro looks like a video,it shows the names of some of the developers and the game while the main character is falling from the sky
>It's actually not a video and you can crash into the letters
>The final boss of the sequel is the protagonist of the previous game
>boxart contains spoilers
>The first level is the last level destroyed
>Fucking title of the game contains a huge spoiler
>trailers spoil biggest plot points and twists
>The game's launch cinematic is an epilogue for a character from the 2nd expansion
youtu.be
The last game in the series is the first game destroyed.
Dark souls 3
>1st game is ok, not good not great
>2nd game is amazing and gathers a massive following
>3rd game focuses on aspects and plot of the first game and completely ignores the second game
>you face the final boss in the stage from demo, where main character was having a dream lead by a fox
>the fox leading you there was ur waifu without knowing how fucked up everything would turn out to be
Noct had a hard life
That was great
>What is Jedi Academy
>Boss is the protag from a previous game
>Villain is objectively, clearly right and has superior motivation to the hero
>Wants the hero to join him to enact his great plans together
>Hero pretends to accept only to call the villain mean words and continue fighting seconds later
>final level is in the room in the first room that you couldn't open
name of game?
>The second half of the game is just backtracking through the first half of the game
>villain is clearly right
>game doesn't give the player the option to join the villain and acts like the villain is evil throughout
witcher 3
>enter the final level
>defeat the final boss
>escape
>final boss reveals himself to be much bigger
I told you...I am this space fortress!
>The last level of the 3rd game is the first level of the 1st game destroyed
Megaman X
>goal is to collect 5 magic objects
>the final one is hidden in the first level
>the last fight's music is a remix of the main title music
Every other Sonic game
>game spends the first hour introducing characters
>they die in a tutorial battle
Shin Megami Tensei 4 Apocalypse
I actually find this type of thing to be lazy design. Depends on how ruined it is. Most of the time devs will just change the lighting of the area with a few chunks of rubble here and there. No big deal.
W101 was a fucking wild ride
Oblivion
...
>Last level is first level destroyed
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
>Rival gets to the final boss at the same time as you
>You two join forces to defeat the boss.
>truce is over and the rival became the true final boss.
I know you were trying to joke but this happened in shadow hearts.
