I kinda miss this show, I remember it being pretty funny. I scared to rewatch because I am afraid it wont hold up.
There aren't that many good ones I can think of.
SA:O is pretty shit
Code Lyoko is meh
Some of the shows from G4 were good but the network itself went to shit.
back to plebbit faggot
Jesus, what happened to G4? I remember it used to have such a variety to game and tech related shows, then they just got torn apart and died.
the owners got rid of almost everything from techTV and tried to turn it into a new Spike
"Cops" happened.
It literally only plays 2 shows now. Electric playground and Campus PD. Not figuratively literally, literally literally.
It doesn't hold up at all, sorry user.
I enjoyed that show in high school when it first came out. Watched a couple old episodes a year or two ago, it really doesn't hold up.
My theory is that people that would tune into to tech/game related shows would just go on the internet for content. People that watch TV wouldn't tune in unless it was COPS and Ninja Warrior or whatever, essentially changing their audience to suit the market.
Why is cops so cancerous to networks?
It's like a symptom of cancer. You know the end is near.
Cops was better than what G4 was airing in their last few years of existence
pic not related
Cops has been running on Fox or whatever channel it's on for like 25 years.
I remember watching a show on G4 about the history of the Dreamcast and what happened. This was at a time when my parents sold our computer to pay rent, and I lived in an area where recent games and internet wasn't common. I never was around to see other episodes of the gaming history show, and I only caught the end of the episode about the NES. I ended up watching them on YouTube years later though.
It was kinda cool, but shows like that are not needed anymore thanks to hundreds sources to information about all sorts of video games and consoles online.
It's different because Fox owns Cops I think
Other channels buy syndicated seasons of Cops because it's cheap, and more than likely just need it to fill time because they don't have any real programming
>You realize the content in Code Monkeys would never pass in the current year.
Remember when Adam Sessler was a decent person?
Before the social justice, the coke, and the trannies?
>he let that big time x-play money go to his head
Has it been confirmed that he's hooked on coke yet?
He was tweaked the fuck out at that one gaming event, PAX or E3 or something. I know the gif gets posted here a ton.
He's definitely on something, I would know.
youtu.be
This explains it really well
You tried
literally never. Morgan "Mandibles" Webb carried the show
I feel like G4 is the prime example of a fading media trying to adapt and stay relevant in the coming of a more inclusive effective media.
They tried and had their shot, but the times are changing.
Code Monkeys is a good example of "high concept, low execution." It had some episodes that were great video game references, like the ET episode and the Moonwalker episode, and then they had some where the dudes go to Iraq or they smoked weed or something stupid. You can tell that a lot of these episodes were producer meddling, because they didn't fit in with the rest of the show at all.
That being said, there really isn't a better "video game themed" tv show.
>get rid of all tech and gaming related shows
>axe anime nights
>fill blocks with 4 hour marathons of cops, cheaters and talk shows
>wonder why their channel failed
It fucking hurt watching one of my favorite channels die.
It just started getting more and more ridiculous and not game related as the show went on. I remember for at least the first season almost every episode was at least about games, and then from there it was about a 50/50 mix of game episodes and them fucking around or smoking dope.
the early seasons of red vs blue before they tried to turn it into a serious gritty action drama still hold up.
>before they tried to turn it into a serious gritty action drama
What the fuck were they even thinking with that anyway? Nobody wanted to watch RvB for the
story, let alone the story of side characters like Tex and AI, of all things.
>good
>codemonkey
