whoever did xenoblade x
BotW composer
shoji meguro
Yoko is the fucking worst
hideyuki fukasawa is honestly the worst thing to grace SF right next to woshige
She's not bad but she's extremely overrated because many people who play video games grew up with KH and they think Dearly Beloved is the pinnacle of gaming music. They are entitled to their opinion but her work is too fucking samey for me.
STUCK ON A DIFFERENT PLANET!
fuck you I liked it
Fuuuuuuuuuuuck you for this bait.
Enjoy the (You)
Jun Senoue
Jeremy Soule-The Composer of Secrets of Evermore and Skyrim
Guys can we use this thread to share some unloved vidya music?
I'm sure there are many vidya songs that will never ever be listened because nobody played their games.
the battle theme is actually one of the better songs
>tfw
he should have retired a decade ago
his music has gone to shit
Mario & Luigi games have good soundtracks
Xenoblade's OST was great though
The only good songs in the game were from ACE+. All of shimomura's contributions were utter shit.
her music are usually the worst in the bunch
i give her credit for SF2 ost though, one of the most memorable in gaming.
Richard Beddow, who did the music for Total War: Rome II
Wait really? I haven't listened to his SF stuff but his VN and anime work is amazing.
>Mario and Luigi series
>street fighter
>kingdom hearts
>RADIANT HISTORIA
FUCK YOU OP
FUCK YOU
Ths is really really good
His main problem is prizing production values over melody
All of his music sounds kind of background, like it belongs in a film.
It's weird since he started on SNES and made a great beep-boop soundtrack with the best of them
Nobuo Uematsu is hot ass garbage outside of a select few tracks.
She wrote like 2 songs and honestly while they were pretty good they weren't that great compared to the rest
In all actual seriousness I'd give a major nod to Motoi Sakuraba. His music has been the blandest phoned in shit in the world ever since the shift from Chip Tunes. He doesn't even remotely try anymore ever.
That guys not really a video game composer since he's only done one soundtrack for games. He's definitely the most overrated composer in the trendy anime scene possibly of all time already (I used to say it was Yuki Kajiura but at least she's used somewhat sparingly and isn't entirely stale) and every show he composes for too ends up hot garbage so he's kind of a calling card for shit on that front too.
Every single soundtrack he does really has sounded exactly the fucking same since about 2013 after he hit it big with Gundam Unicorn and started his whole NzK project with the shrieking vocal shit and bass drops but it appeals to teenagers who like to "get hype" so he keeps doing it. If you actually want to see vocal stuff mixed well into a game where it's not constantly intrusive and trying to be the center of attention Meguro and that Okabe guy do it way better and so it actually mixes with the vibe of scenes and features variety in composition and style other than just generic loud and "epic". It also helps that they actually work with people that can sing instead of a bunch of shrill screamers and terrible male rappers from Sony Music Japan's catalog.
Anyway most people agree trendy as he is in anime that his Xenoblade Chronicles X composition was a bust since he's out and the original team is back in sans a couple of members. Incidentally if the only reason he's being mentioned is a shitty followup to the OP because of Shimomura than fuck you he really does suck at his one stint as a video game composer but worst is up for debate since he's really only done one moderately high profile original work for video games and isn't looking like he's doing anymore any time soon if he was immediately told to fuck off back to shitty anime after it.

This is a great track
But you need to provide examples from more than one fucking game, SNES at that.
Absolute worst of the worst are:
Martin O'Donnell
Ludvig Forssell
Keiichi Okabe
Harry Gregson Williams
I could literally make better music than these hacks within a day
She's definitely been on a downward trend
do it then faggot, ill see you tomorrow
>Harry Gregson Williams
This fucking dude is so painfully mediocre. I don't know how he's gotten as far as he has.
Nah his SF4 music was great. People might be frustrated over some of the character remixes, but even then, the stage music was 10/10.
>t.random nobody who never composed a famous piece and thinks that his opinion about the matter is worth anything but shit
Sarcastic thread aside; This guy is objectively the worst, relevant vidya composer currently in the industry
prove me wrong
You're right except for Harry Gregson Williams, though his best work is usually for movies.
Whoever composes music for Hyperdimension Neptunia games.
>you have to make music in order to appreciate it
Yeah, just like how only chefs know good food
the entire furi ost, have a taster
youtube.com
Harry Gregson Williams is a movie composer, and he's good at that at least. Ludvig Forssell is complete trash though.
>t. guy who thinks opinions are only valid when somebody is adept at what they are criticising
Sakuraba had a hard life. He needs some rest.
That really is a tough one. I think the last soundtrack he did that sounded remotely inspired or like he gave the slightest shit was Valkyrie Profile....1.
It's a great soundtrack. Probably one of Yoko's best scores. And still, the best track from the game is by Uematsu.
New Samurai Jack tonight, thanks for reminding me.
Did everyone forget she composed the Street Fighter II music? That shit's iconic as fuck. Also Mario RPG. Fuck Kingdom Hearts but you'd be dumb to say she's the 'worst' unless you're being an edgelord
I actually really like the soundtracks for the Baten Kaitos games
I've literally written music though. So I probably know a little bit about what I'm talking about.
Have you written music user? Then you need to leave.
I don't know who any of these people are but it's not hard to make one or two good music tracks if you're at all musically inclined. Making a good score for something is hard though
>Martin O'Donnell
>Keiichi Okabe
YAMETE
youtube.com
It's so dense
Doesn't excuse his boring garbage music
He's the McDonalds of vidya soundtracks
is there a name for this?
>Main theme
>Bad
Get the fuck out
>Harry Gregson Williams is a movie composer, and he's good at that at least
Not really
He's not total shit but "good" is really stretching the definition of the word.
t. dude with shitload of film scores
>Harry helped compose mgs3
>Did everyone forget she composed the Street Fighter II music?
no I remember that trash
If we're talking major, prolific composers yes because the faggot makes the same sounding shit every time. Even worse than Sawano.

This is the first decent track of him I've ever heard and even then the part at 1:00 is garbage and its still way too noisy later, its as if he forgot to turn of a soundchannel or something
>create the most effortless bait post of all time
>people are actually agreeing with this
This board was a mistake
>too noisy
That's sort of the point. It's the big boss battle. I like how he just goes fucking nuts with the music
Terribly underrated composer imho
>literally a shitty arrangement of Dragon Roost Island
You're being ironic?
What are the most overrated and underrated soundtracks Sup Forums?
Undertale is overrated
For Underrated imo it'd be The World Ends With You
Your taste is shit
Kenji Ito is the best out of the 80s-90s squaresoft composers
prove me wrong
protip:you cant
Î get the intent, even then it sounds like a mess at times, but in a bad way
>Terribly underrated composer imho
He's almost the definition of overrated since he's still being hired regularly despite having stopped giving a fuck a decade ago and always having been mediocre to begin with
Yes I am mad because every game he's in I can already expect the soundtrack to suck turds
youtube.com
another good track, not as insane-o as the boss music
>overrated
Any NieR game. They're good- they're not the greatest.
>underrated
Dino Crisis. The synths are unbelievably well utilized and only add to the game's perfect atmosphere.

The SaGa games have awesome music, so I don't think I can.
Still not sure if people are being sarcastic about her or not
I think she's great, the only thing that annoys me is that she always uses the same soundfont(?)
Like you can already tell its her based on the sounds she uses
Good stuff, specially the second one
I just remembered another buried soundtrack

This is the man who thought it would be rad to make a legit groovy disco track for a goddamn sewer dungeon, you can't beat Itoken.
I've never touched a single game in the SaGa series but this track remains one of my favorite vidya tracks to this day
youtube.com
I've played a lot of Tales and Star Ocean, and I don't exactly love Sakuraba's music overall, but I think he has made a couple great tracks for each Tales game (Abyss is mostly what comes to mind). His work on the Souls series was more hit than miss for me as well.
That's Hamauzu though.
You're missing out though, SaGa is the craziest JRPG series there is.
>Baba all the way in the back
Haha holy shit
I'm probably legit too dumb for those games, too many variables fry my brain. Last Remnant already killed me and apparently SaGa is twice as bad
overrated and nier cannot exist in the same sentence
humankind cannot possibly appretiate them the way they deserve to be
I like him a lot but his tracks are too similar at times which becomes a huge problem when they sound similar in games from different series.

No. Not at all.
well that's embarrasing
You fanboys are insufferable
god your taste is shit

That being said, I too love Sakuraba's works but when it comes to things like Tales, I need to hear more Go Shiina.
Favorite dungeon related Sakuraba piece:

>Contrarianfags trying to convince people Yoko is bad
Yeah nah go fuck yourself, even with unorganized shit games like FFXV at least Yoko was still able to carry the whole music department. She may be overrated but most, if not, all cases the praise is well-deserved.
Depends on the games, most are more complex and usually harder than The Last Remnant, that's true, however, none have the amount of grind that The Last Remnant has, SaGa's complexity is more in how each entry redefines the ruleset and how it adds completely unique mechanics on top of that, variables aren't the big deal, how and when you should or could use those variables is what matters.
You never have to worry about missing magazines or weapon upgrade paths in SaGa for instance, nor you have to worry about characters coming up with commands you don't like.
Try out SaGa Frontier or the DS remakes, they're great for beginners and aren't batshit hard or too complex, the DS titles are especially useful to teach you the most basic principles like damage types, building your characters with SaGa's growth mechanics, comboing and so on, there's also a general thread on /vr/ for the series, some Anons there also made a neat folder with the series' OST and some other arrangements just to stay on topic.
>Marty
>Not god tier
Why do you exist
>that comparison
Holy shit what was the man thinking
Speaking of Destiny, is this Sakuraba's or Tamura's work?
youtube.com
It's my favorite piece from the soundtrack
I feel like Nier's soundtrack, at least the original one, is regarded as really good due to it's use in-game, and also how the gameplay was really bland. So, the OST was somehow enhanced, if that makes sense, by how bland the game got at times. It made you listen to it.
PS1 and DS are probably the two most inaccessable platforms for me, otherwise I'd probably have given it a try
I'll keep the series in mind though, always written it off as an autism simulator since it has that kinda reputation
She is garbage though
"I hate yoko"-tan is getting just as bad as xv-kun now
I can tell it's just one faggot that's been doing this over these last few months too
