The swotch pro controller is better.

Ititerally Xbox 360 controller which is worst than a steam controller.

because it's trash

Cost is not worth it

It's 35 had and customizable this controller should be 75 dollars.

I already own a wired Xbox 360 controller.

I do have one, didn't liked it but maybe didn't used it enough, feels better than any controller for FPS, but not better than keyboard and mouse, for anything else, a normal controller does better

Whoa, so cool! I've been stumped!

Gyro aiming is pretty dope.

>friend gets one
>ask him what games he plays with it
>"Rocket league"
>Okay what else
>uhh not much really

I have one and it's collecting dust.

I have one but I've never used it for anything.

bit where Im at, too lazy to cook up a config for the majority of really m/kb reliant games and don't want to use the community configs in most cases.

Pretty great for Rocket League tho.

Works great in Dragon's Dogma and the Dark Souls games. If you're lazy, just find a community preset for you. If you love to tinker with settings then you will jizz at how much you can fuck around with on the Steam Controller. This video I think perfectly sums up the potential of it...

No good skins.

No swappable components like the original concepts that leaked, and like the XB-Pro pad has which is a total fucking waste

Prototype was better with dedicated D-Pad, the Joystick they replaced it with is literally just a training wheel for people that aren't used to the trackpads yet and the d-pad inset to the left one fucking ruins IME

Control customization is the only thing going for it

Seriously the lack of swappable components has me butthurt

Don't need one. I have a perfectly good KB+M and an excellent array of Nintendo and Sony controllers to use in-place of it.

How well does it work with Mechwarrior?

Normal gamepads are too limited in controls and customization.

not even valve drones buy this shit
why would anyone have a it desu

the pads are atrocious
the vive controllers have the exact same things and when I was testing it in a local store they have 0 reason to exist over joysticks

But I do because I have disposable income that I can dedicate to my hobbies. It's okay, for some games it works better than others.

I do, it is good for couch gaming but I won't be throwing out my 360 controller any time soon.

It pretty much replaced my ds3 because in most 3rd person games the trackpad is superior for camera control than the stick.

I noticed that the people who are shilling on Sup Forums will post the topic in the thread and the title.

I like it for everything but FPS games.

The flexibility of it is really nice. I play M&B with it more often than the mouse now.

I know they developed some really nifty text entry system for the steam controller but I'd like if the second version or revision includes something like this as an option.

Because it's shit, desu.
Left touchpad doesn't work as full cross replacement because hollows in left touchpad are too shallow and you may miss them. Left joystick is too slanting and requires your thumb to bend in an angle that is totally unnatural compared to left joystick of PS controller, for example.

How is the steam controller for souls?

I've been having some problems with my Rocket league config, I use the right trackpad as 5 button radial menu the cental button is A and the 4 surrounding buttons are right joystick inputs.
For some reason the fucking right trackpad keeps crashing, I want to use it because it's a lot more comfortable than reaching over for the face buttons but it keeps crashing and I have to restart the game.

I've also been tinkering some racing sim configs with it and it works surprisingly well the left trackpad has a lot of room and you can slide your thumb a wee bit for small inputs for fast corners, it's a lot more precise than an analogue stick.
Also been tinkering with a Res evil 4 config, still haven't found one I liked I'm so used to playing it with the standard controllers.

You can't do the claw grip like you could do with a 360 pad, so bind roll/sprint to one of the back paddles and that's the only problem fixed.

It's shit. I don't buy shit I flush it down the toilet.

But I do own one.

>Buy an Xbox elite controller because people talk about how great it is
>It's literally just a regular Xbox controller with the face buttons on the back
>Extra sticks and dpad make no difference
>The silver pieces aren't even metal, you can even see the white plastic under the spray paint

because im not a redditor.

Because i already do have one

i use the Steam controller for console port third person games like dark souls and even on some casual fps games

i use the key pad and mouse for rts games and "serious" fps games

i have a mechanical keyboard on a roller on the underside of the desk

i cant get the ps3 controller to work with steams controller system thing but i have my main monitor on a switch to play my ps3

the eggs box controller really hasnt got much of a look in since i bought the steam controller

would seriously recommend if you dont mind doing a bit of reconfiguring, but even then most steam games are supporting the steam controller nowadays. but word of warning if you buy and play games through GOG's launcher or Origin or Uplay or what ever the fuck, the steam controller is a prick to set up

Why would I want to use the left track pad over the analog stick? It has a little bit larger range of motion, but not being able to feel any force from the input makes it feel intuitive for anything that has weight behind it. It is the same reason why gyro controls for Mario Kart don't work well. If anything, I would have wanted them to drop the left track pad for a d-pad.
