Learn Japanese.

Nah.

Well for starters they don't censor anything.

I love XSEED

Senran Kagura's ages.

Have a (You) for your poor bait.

XSeed already discussed why this is the case and it has to do with licensing.

Akiba's Beat is dual audio

Neither do Gaijinworks, but everyone still hates them for doing the same things XSEED does.

Gaijinworks' translations are actually bad though
And I actually like Gaijinworks because they're still trying to give Class of Heroes games releases

>Gaijinworks' translations are actually bad though
How are they any worse than XSEED's translations?

XSeed translations at least convey the meaning of the Japanese text

XSEED is garbage

Name one (1) company that would've published games like Return to Poplocrois, Solatorobo, and Fragile Dreams in the West besides XSeed

Is this real?

The japanese one is bland, though.

>onii-chan
>bro, broseidon, brocade, broseph, a billion other plays on bro
If you say so, bro.
Don't forget that they also rewrote high touch into brohoof.

English dub > Japan audio unless you speak japanese

The American one is stupid.

>cringe american voices
>better than anything

hahaha, SA-KAH-MOU-TOH

The american one is fucking retarded.

the first one is fine, the second one could do without "daddy"

Don't forget that gaijinworks also cut out the voice acting and introduced some incredibly annoying bugs.

>The monsters aren't even making much noise
>Second line makes it clear that the monsters are being antagonistic, American rewrite just makes it sound like Erst is a nutjob on a hair trigger

Yeah, man: Just go learn one of the hardest languages out there to play video games without a half-ass voice over by people that clearly don't give a fuck about the thing they're acting in.

The explanation we were always led to believe was that the company falcom licences for voice work refused to work with foreign businesses.

That would explain why NISA was able to get rights to voices for Ys 8 so easily, since they can go through regular Japanese NIS to negotiate those rights.

The easy solution is just put everything on PC so fans can undub themselves with minimal hassle.

Isn't XSEED owned by Marvelous now?

>that JP at the very top

triggered

Anyway if you're a normal dude with varied interests and a wife and kids taking up your time, yeah, learning it is a waste of time. If you're spending most of your time holed up in a dark room playing Japanese games anyway though, may as well learn it.

XSeed generally don't butcher the script for personal political reasons. Nintendo Treehouse (at least) seems to enjoy doing so. As such, I get upset when Nintendo does so, and do not get upset when XSeed doesn't do so. A lot of Sup Forums loves losing their shit the moment someone even hints at a localization change or "censorship", but actually asking what was "censored" generally leads to a meaningful localization change in most situations I've found.

The last XSeed game I played which involved a dub was Return to Popolocrois, and trust me, nobody is going to play through that game long enough to try complaining about the dub. Most of their games are either still in Japanese (Senran Kagura) or don't have much meaningful voice work (Story of Seasons), so I'm curious to what you are talking about.

probably Trails, but in that case it's probably just Falcom being a bitch or it's that much more expensive, as far as I know the series is popular enough to be localized into Chinese (even drama CDs and stuff) and as far as I know they don't dub stuff there

They've been partnered with Marvelous since 2008 and became Marvelous USA in 2013. XSEED has just been a brand since.

>That would explain why NISA was able to get rights to voices for Ys 8 so easily, since they can go through regular Japanese NIS to negotiate those rights.
What about Aksys getting the Japanese audio for Tokyo Xanadu?

>>Atlus, NoA, and NISA release games dub-only

>>XSEED release games dub-only
>>FUCK THESE JEWS I WON'T BUY THE GAME IF IT'S DUB-ONLY THEY SHOULD BE GETTING THE JAPANESE AUDIO
Fixed that for you

Trails is their flagship series so all the voicework is handled by Chara-Ani who don't like doing business with westerners.

Luckily the extent of Trails' voicework was just battlecry.wmv. There was an undub to get the original voices for both TiTS. Now if Edge of Coldsteel is dub only then that's pretty terrible, especially if it proves hard to undub. [I assume the Trails games became filled with more and more voice-over just like everything else in the industry.]

fuck xseed

>we can't dub these lines because falcom said we can't

Then they port it to pc
>10,000 lines on new voiced dialogue

Fuck you lying cunts

Didn't the chinks get the original voices?

If XSeed were a woman, I'd clean up many aspects of myself for her.

>Now if Edge of Coldsteel is dub only then that's pretty terrible, especially if it proves hard to undub
the third one will be since it's ps4 only
also they have remakes of the older games but the west probably won't ever get those

>Most of their games are either still in Japanese (Senran Kagura) or don't have much meaningful voice work (Story of Seasons), so I'm curious to what you are talking about.

Akiba's Trip
Onechanbara Z2

Cold Steel was already dub-only on Vita/PS3 and the PC release is also confirmed dub-only.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised Falcom renegotiated their VA contracts following last September ending up with something less expensive and as much a hassle for localizers to deal with. So far Aksys and NISA have been able to get Japanese voices after this hypothetical new contract went into place. We need to wait and see if XSEED again can't get Japanese voices for Cold Steel III (which they've got in the bag now because of Cold Steel's PC ports).

You're missing Return to PopoloCrois under dual-audio (it even has two Japanese voice tracks), as well as Akiba's Beat coming soon.

I wish you guys never recommended Return to Popolocrois. It's one of those games that's full of character but is too damn simple for it's own good.

I wonder if Akiba's Beat when it gets ported (1-2 years) is going to run this time at 60 fps. Not like the last one was unplayable but I got used to it.

>You're missing Return to PopoloCrois under dual-audio (it even has two Japanese voice tracks), as well as Akiba's Beat coming soon.
Ok, I missed one released game and one upcoming game. So that makes 32 dub-only games, 11 JP-only games, and 5 dual-audio games. Never mind that I specifically left out games that weren't released yet, though I did make a mistake in leaving TitS 3 in as such. I also left out games with practically no voice acting, as in your example of Story of Seasons.
That sure as hell isn't "Most of their games are either still in Japanese or don't have much meaningful voice work".

Disregard that, I suck cocks.

>want to play Japanese game on Steam
>Japanese language is taken out
every time

I really like Return to PopoloCrois even if it is simple (lot of fun NPCs and good pace) and short if you don't mess around with post-game questing.

I'm not the user you replied to btw.

Who knows, XSEED might be working with the same team that's currently doing Cold Steel PC.

Companies like Falcom want to sell Japanese versions to players in their own region almost always at higher prices than what we pay.

>what is Story of Seasons and Senran Kagura

Haven't heard of this one before. What was censored in Story of Seasons?

>Who knows, XSEED might be working with the same team that's currently doing Cold Steel PC.

XSEED are doing Cold Steel's PC port in-house. That's why it has the new dubbed voice lines this time.

Jap version had subtle lesbian joke removed from the western version

In the XSEED steam last night, XSEED's in-house programmer Sara (who's only working on Trails 3rd right now) mentioned "someone else" is doing the ports. That very likely means a commissioned team a la Little King's Story, though I bet XSEED's found someone different this time. XSEED can tell these people to add all sorts of new stuff if desired, there's no specific reason why XSEED has to do this in-house...especially if Sara's busy and no one else programs.

what was it?

>game has japanese voices but no japanese text
>game has japanese text but no japanese voices
>game launches with japanese and then patches it out
>game lists japanese on the store page a day before release, then removes it without mentioning it

>Game has Japanese voices and Japanese text
>It's region-locked

>Companies like Falcom want to sell Japanese versions to players in their own region almost always at higher prices than what we pay.
Except they can easily do that on Steam by setting different prices per region?
It's just that Japanese publishers don't give a shit about Steam and it's localizers that put their garbage up and take out the Japanese language for some retarded reason. Never seen an explanation why they'd take out Japanese text despite the game being dual audio.
Also Jews like Nicalis adding back Japanese language (after release) in Cave Story with a godawful eye cancer font when the original was perfectly fine, and they somehow managed to make the Japanese language break achievements.

>Treehouse translates a game
>Memes up the fucking ass
>Censored by the Nintendo tumblr brigade
>Entire sections of dialogue just absolutely fucked

>Atlus translates a game
>Somehow creates black hole devastation bugs

>XSEED translates a game
>Changes the absolute most fucking bare minimum
>ACTUALLY FUCKING LOCALIZES and changes it from Nip to English while still keeping the same general meeting

OH NO THEY SAID THANKS FOR THE GRUB INSTEAD OF ITADEKIMASU FUCK THIS GAME GRRRRR I'M SO ANGRY

Yeah, they don't want to pay for the license.

>Personally I wouldn't be surprised Falcom renegotiated their VA contracts
I honestly want CS3 to come out dubbed just to see what new mental gymnastics you apologists come up with.

Apart from NISA and Aksys.

>Memes and rewrites are ok when XSEED does it

>only the special edition has support for english language
>it arrives
>it's just a tape recorder and a dictionary

>I honestly want CS3 to come out dubbed just to see what new mental gymnastics you apologists come up with.
I'm sure they'll just argue that there wasn't any point since the first two were dub-only.

It doesn't matter, that's what the original Japanese was that's what you translate, you don't ad-lib unless it's just rewriting a sentence using the same meaning to adhere to the character's way of speaking.

>Fragile Dreams
>Dub only

It's been a while, but I swear that shit had dual audio. Also did any version of Ys Origin have any voice acting at all?

No, Ys Seven introduced battle voices.

Shit, you're right, Fragile Dreams was dual-audio. My bad.

Wrong, Oath in Felghana had them first, and came out 4 years before Seven.

Oath lacked voices on Windows in 2005, and it still doesn't have VA. You're right in a sense: the PSP port from 2010 added VA. Ys Origin doesn't seem to have voice acting either on PC or Vita/PS4, and XSEED didn't localize Ark of Napishtim on PS2. So in 2010 we got Seven and then Oath PSP, both of which are Eng dub-only by XSEED.

>Game is japanese
>Japanese cant buy it

>Earth Defense Force 2 + 4.1
fuck you, the EDF dubs are god tier

i'm glad spike chunsoft includes runes in their windows ports now

Well, I guess I'll go fuck myself then.

Not the point.

why, sega? why?

Fuck off American EOP scum.
