While a couple of Lovecraftian works focus on detectives and private eye type characters, the vast majority share more in common with traditional Gothic Horror tropes. The concept of a learned/remarkable explorer or scientist protagonist; and the somewhat existential horror of a vast unknowable outside is similar to the awe-inspiring/sublime perceptions of nature.

This also ignores stories which take place in the boonies which feel more like fables or random EC comics horror stories (see: Cats of Ulthar, Colour Out of Space, etc...).

Lovecraft can be compared to a bunch of genres but his actual stories have very little in common with noir stories.

Well first of all smt isnt current its post apocplytpic set in the future. 2nd of all half the games involve reading text over a japanese still image because they are too lazy to have actual in game models talking to eachother. The games are a snoozefest with most of your time being spent watching a story.
