Morrowind.
Late game you're basically a Dragonball Z character.
Sacrifice
I should've included these in hardmode FUCK
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
I mean, Force Unleashed
If you like MMOs, check out Black Desert Online. Wizard is fucking INSANE on it. You're squishy, but your spells are incredible. You can drop an entire fucking meteor on things and it will destroy them like you're some OP MFER in a single player game.
This doesn't look like it aged well.
Dark Arisen
I always liked the character progression in Morrowind.
Earlygame you are just a random guy who has to take public transport to move around, lategame you just teleport, fly aroud and shit fireballs
Nox
Seconding this. Despite being an MMO, Black Desert really plays nothing like one, and all the spells that wizards and witches get have a tremendous amount of oomph to them. I've never felt like such a powerful badass caster in any other game, not even Dragon's Dogma.
Black desert is so boring and bland and gear doesn't even change your looks.
This game was fucking great. Haven't played it in a decade, probably, but I remeber it was great. Will reinstall.
Skyrim
Its pretty great. You hold up one hand and then hot/cold/zap comes out and if you hold up your other hand more hot/cold/zap comes out. If you put enough hardcore gamer points into magic skill you can hold both hands together like a dragon ball z and do a khamehaha that shoots hot/cold/zap
But skyrim is a terrible game
Just make sure two things; keep walking backwards when you do your magic attacks because the enemies in Skyrimland are FIERCE and will walk right through your magics.
Also keep one eye on your magics meter. It'll run out real fast in a warzone cave and you'll need to find a place to crouch down and hide while you recover. Make sure you stock up on bottles of magic so you can give all the dragons a whooping like they've never felt before. FUS RO DAH my man
Neverwinter Nights. Familiars, summons, enchanting, transforming, crowd control, and tons of utility spells. Plenty of shit that hits really hard as well
ITS GOT DRUIDS IT'S GOT CLERICS IT'S GOT SORCERERS AND EVERY FLAVOR OF WIZARD
I remember the final battle of MOTB
Put on EVERY PROTECTION SPELL, run in, drop a fuckton of meteor swarms. Cunt never had a chance.
aged just fine
Chrono Cross has some pretty fantastic spell effects.
I remember most of my deaths were from me trying to fuck around. If I ever got serious I could steamroll anything under the weight of my magic.
Fuck I loved that game when I was in middle school. I wish something like that would be produced again.
Every Final Fantasy until 13.
Tactic Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Umineko
The summons always made my dick hard
Try Neverwinter nights 2 go warlock and spam chilling tentacles on the entire map
That was why making FF real time instead of turn based ruined the system. It took away the exciting and spectacular magic effects that set FF apart from other games.
It was the summoners, for me...
how is the magic in XIV? Is it just different colored pew pew shots and animal helpers like 12, 13, and 15 or are there actual spells and summons?
FFT really set itself up well imo, there's tons of magic in the game there's more powerful than this, but the way its shown to you in the first battle (when you're still stuck with basic units and wont have access to anything similar till the game's halfway point) really made you go 'damn i need to get in on that shit'
