Having a toaster is an acceptable excuse, but honestly when I hook up a computer to a monitor and sit on the couch with a connected gamepad, it feels no different then dicking around with a chipped Xbox or something.

I really want to love DMC3, but I played it after DMC4 and not being able to change styles freely is a deal breaker.

Chain Reverb Shock (Forward Triangle) and Feedback (Forward O). It's the best AOE in the damn game and one of the best combo for getting through DMD
Jam session (Left Analog+mash Triangle) is also a great moves, but also a fuck ton of startup and endlag that it can net you free hit from red guys (both version). It's great if you can pull it off safely to the end though
The normal projectiles can parry enemy projectiles if you hold Triangle for Dante to riff

Well for that exact reason. It has the bases down - no surprise since Jaffe did outright state he studied DMC - but automates crowd-control with fuckhuge AOE weapons that cause loadsa hitstun, which kneecaps any mechanical complexity.

Nevan is pretty good.
It's shit for combos, but it is good as a support weapon to stun or damage enemies with her aerial projectiles, blow enemies the fuck out with its explosion, and it also has that sweet DT attack that lets you fly, do spin attacks and shoot thunders.

Nevan's mash combos build style like no other. Uncancellable recovery make it hard to connect combos though

It is also pretty good with swordmaster.

Ghosts just remind people of a Noir or Lovecraftian settings, which isn't really stylish (but it can be though)

Why can't I dodge worth a shit in DMC4? Maybe I'm too used to Bayonetta where it has a dedicated dodge instead of requiring three inputs just to move. When I do dodge the timing always feels off too.

Jump is your dodge. Jump can be cancelled at any time before max height so it doesn't ruin your position

Fixes performance, adds styleswitching, and some extra fluff like better resolution support.
The newest version of StyleSwitcher mod streamlined the installation process. No third party software needed, just extract and run install.bat.
It also overhauled the sound engine so you don't have to delete music files or disable them.
If you don't like the gameplay changes like styleswitching, you can disable them in an easy to figure out .ini file

You're used to Bayonetta because its i-frames are so excessive that you hardly have to have proper timing.

Once you learn to actually dodge, you can't go back to it so happily.

He gets like 1.5 weapon movesets for his sword, and the guns are whatever.

Hardly much compared to Dante's 6 weapons and 5 styles, it's obvious who the effort went into.

Makes it all the more weird that you play as Nero for 2/3rds of the fucking game.

Lady is really fun to play
Too bad she's pretty broken on the hands of a capable player
