I dislike the concept for the same reason i dislike modern sidescrollers. Back then sidescrollers were the best that devs could do with the hardware of the day.

banjo kazooie is good. the problem is every rare game after it isn't and old 3d marios had much better movement options and I think people wanted a combo of those 2

Because they were somewhat new and interesting at the time, they were good ways of exploring such a revolutionary 3d space. A lot of VR games, for instance, are given a pass right now for being shitty or basic simply by virtue of being in VR.

Any genre has the potential for good games, it's all about the execution and care during development. Just because this game is probably shit, it doesn't mean it's the genre's fault. It's the developers'. Specially since we already have examples of good games from it that are fun to play even today. (And yes, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie are still very fun and good by today standards, you fucking contrarian. Not everything you disagree with is nostalgia speaking.)

And hell, if even point ans click games have the potential to be good, why can't 3D platformers?

Instead of improving the game,they just copied and pasted everything from the old games,expecting people to still like it purely because nostalgia,plus the jontron drama.
I swear if Bloodstained is also mediocre my hope for devs from old games crowdfunding to make something because "hey remember that from when you were a kid" will be completely lost
