This game would be so much better if saving progress functioned like Dark Souls

No it wouldn't

Why?

It's fine the way it is.
Zelda is supposed to appeal to both casuals and hardcore audiences.
I'm surprised by how hardcore the game already is.
I teared up when I realized I was playing a Zelda game where I wasn't mashing B to win.

throw in some traditional dungeons, keep the combat, and make it a bit more difficult and we will have a even better game

But you can just save scum everything. Nothing has any permanent consequences

>implying souls has significant consequences
All that series has is pointless irritations. Dying isn't something to be feared, its something to find irritating.

When it comes to savescumming, you have no one to blame but yourself for abusing it. You want to be oh-so-hardcore? Any time you die, reload to the last time you were in a town. Ta-dah, you've solved save-scumming.

Maybe that'll be hard mode.
What would be save points though? Shrines? Campfires?

Tell that to Eventide Island

>mashing B

That's because you mash with Y bro. Do you even play the game?

Only if you are a 12 year old NeoFAG poster. Adult people want to be able to save whenever they want because sometimes they have things to do.

IDK about Dark Souls but you may be pleased with the save progress mechanic of the next Switch Zelda.

the game doesn't need them

your opinion sucks

And weapon maintenance, and real good combat, and decent bosses.

This, it's like Fire Emblemtards complaining about casual mode. Just don't use that mode.

>saving
This is a totally optional feature

You do know that souls games are constantly autosaving, right?
As in you can quit anytime and resume in the same spot?

Go mash your "y" button on a Lynel and tell me how that turns out.

>continue to press xxx yyy xxx yyy again and again
>be sucked

>wear ancient gear max out
>go up to lynel and mash Y with ancient axe ++
>it dies

???

it has a pretty aggressive autosave so i have no idea what the fuck you want.

Dark Souls is built around level design, forcing you to save at checkpoints makes the game challenging. BoTW is open world, forcing you to save at speciffic locations, especially at the start when you dont even know where you're standing would make the game impossible for everybody except hardcore autists.
