Neo/v/ praises game

>neo/v/ praises game
>play it
>it's just a shit version of bayonetta but padded out with monotonous fetch quests and constant melodrama/edginess being shoved down the player's throat
I think you owe me an explanation.

thigh bulge

don't forget the bland looking environments and invisible walls

I want to enjoy it, but I'm struggling to get through even a single playthrough because I find the quests, normal enemy encounters and combat to be quite boring. I just want to see what all the fuss is about, and I got told it's from multiple playthroughs. This is barely enjoyable for a single playthrough, I don't know if I can do it again.

People often use this phrase ironically, but in this case the game is literally "too deep for you"

>implying the game has any depth to it, both gameplay- and plotwise
If anything you're too shallow, kid.

>>neo/v/ praises game
>>play it
>>it's just [...] bayonetta
Welcome to every Platinum game ever. Hope you like 2 hours worth of "Mash A to Awesome" otherwise this developer doesn't have much for you.

>not enjoying a nice, simple, pretty fable

How pretentious do you have to be

alright serious question for people that didn't like this game,
what is in your opinion a better game you played ?

Bayonetta.

>2deep4u
>simple fable

Pick one

>overblowing a nice, simple, pretty fable
retard is you if you do this

Superman 64

persona 5

Not the same guy, bro

We are able to disagree with each other, you know

Don't play it then

bayonetta
mgsr

but not other plat games like transformers or korra

i just hated the combat style of 9s. forcing you to play asteroids for half the play through really slowed down the combat for me - it almost seemed brain dead at times since it felt so predictable. THEN they introduce A2, but you only play her for a fraction of the time

I've stopped playing it to get through Persona and Yakuza. I'll go back to it after those and see how I feel about it then. I think my expectations were just too high, so I'm still willing to give it a chance, there has to be something going on there for it to be praised.

You really expect people to list games they preferred? There's loads for me to list, why the fuck does it matter anyway?

because i liked nier automata but at the same time i understand where people come from

and i love to see what people like to play

there is nothing that people on Sup Forums like to play

If you don't get it, you don't get it, that's fine. Just refund it and play something more your speed.

It's a shame though, because it's a lovely game but not everybody is going to be as 'into it' as others, either because they don't have the patience to get into it, or they genuinely don't understand the narrative that's going on.

>it's just a shit version of bayonetta

You expected a Platinum game when you got a Taro game.

why are japs so obsessed with repetitive sword games? slash dodge parry

thats all these games aer

Because it's fun.

is the crack out yet?

Slash dodge parry is a strong archetype in action games, it's just this one falls short. Try a real character action game like Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta.

Fair enough. I thought it was one of those shitposts to bait somebody in to saying a game you dislike in an attempt to discredit their opinions.

>play it

there's your problem, you're not supposed to play it, just stare at the robots ass the entire time.

Why do people keep comparing it to Bayo?

It's all in the story and the narratives.
If it's not melding with you after a few hours I dare say it isn't for you.

>have double digit iq
>think the narrative is some kind of 2deep4u shit
>claim anyone who doesn't enjoy this pretentious shit doesn't "get" it
Maybe you're just uneducated and never read a book to think this pretentious, paper thin in-your-face annie may """philosophy""" crap is some deep shit.

>tfw the real game doesn't start until route C
>tfw once again Sup Forums proves to be casual by failing to get past the casual filter.

What a fucking a surprise, expected these threads to come a lot sooner though.

Because Platinum came in and handled the combat mechanics.

But is it the same genre as Bayo/MGSR?

No, but a very cursory glance at gameplay can make it look like it is. Mind you I'm not justifying it, I'm just explaining why the comparison exists.

For me, it's not so much the narrative, it's just the gameplay. I'm all for a good storyline, but I expect the game to not drag me through 5 fields of dust to tell it to me. This would of course be a lot less of a problem if the characters were more interesting, or interacted a lot more. Something I felt Nier provided, but Automata didn't. I feel it's so focused on setting up a plot that comes together that it forgets to provide anything else.
I haven't done a second playthrough yet, so maybe that changes after the first.

>same genre as Bayo/MGSR?

yes, and both still handled by Plat

>yes

I thought Nier was a JRPG.

Automata is not a pure character action game, user. It plays like an unpolished one but it isn't one.

Are you taking into account that people have different tastes? Because I know fallout 4 and the Witcher 3 are loved by many people, but I don't go playing them to find what those people see in the game. I already know I don't like either of them, and it's not magically going to change.

So the fact that it's praised is rather meaningless from your position.

>he fell for taroshills lies
Blame yourself, no one even knows about this garbage meme game series outside of Sup Forumseddit

>Sup Forumseddit

wat

Nier Automata is a game which is objectively a good game. You may not think it's a masterpiece, but its a good game. This is not arguable. The game also costs 60$ which poorfags and Brazilian monkeys cannot afford.

Since they cannot afford it, they feel like they are missing out whenever they see a thread where people are discussing it. In order to get over this feeling of being left out, they have to try and create an environment where people think the game sucks and isn't worth playing, therefore they don't have to feel like they're missing out since it's a bad game anyway.

This is being exacerbated by the fact that Denuvo is preventing these poorfags from pirating the game. This enrages them, because they feel they are entitled to play the game despite not being able to afford it or being able to get their mothers to purchase it for them. Seeing others who paid for the game having a discussion about the game and enjoying themselves hurts them. This cannot continue. So they go and shitpost as hard as they can, wasting their time in countless threads about a game they proclaim they have no interest in playing anyway.

speaking of which, how's progress on the crack?

>this entire post
i didn't read it but kys you're self, kiddo

Yeah, I'm obviously aware people have different opinions. But then there's stuff like
So I want to get through the less enjoyable parts to see if I'll really enjoy that aspect of it. And from what I've been told, that all comes from your multiple playthroughs. So I feel I'm doing myself a disservice by not trying to get that out of it, because it could greatly overshadow the gameplay's flaws.

This is why Sup Forums needs flags again.
So we can prove you're either right, or you're a fucking leaf.

just make a nier thread next time you're allowed to play video games

>This is not arguable.

Yes it is, considering that's just your subjective opinion. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's not as great as people claim it is.

>brought up piracy
And you think he's not a leaf

>Leafs are the shitposters of the board
>BR's are the pirate poorfags

>reddit spacing
You don't even need a flags to know he's a leaf.

Original Nier

Last one I played was DW4:XL. Which one should I play next?

You're in a Nier thread, so I guess Nier.

...

Oh shit, wrong thread, sorry guys

never ever

>neo/v/
We are nu/v/ now

Blatant bait threads aren't allowed on Sup Forums I'm pretty sure. Enjoy you're ban, kiddo.

>reddit spacing
When did this meme start? People have often been spacing shit like that since forever on Sup Forums before Reddit was even thought off.

>Automata
>Platinum

The rule is to play until you meet Pascal. If you're still not feeling the game by then then it's likely just not for you. also, what's wrong with you?!

So I think it's fair to say that you two are more after the typical platinum action experience, which this game does offer to an extent but I think of it more as another nier game with better combat.
That's fair, Persona 5 is no doubt a very good game. Pretty story-focused, just like nier. But I think yoko taro's fairly unique writing style makes nier a very different experience, whereas I feel like Persona 5 is a bit more traditional in its storytelling. It doesn't offer that many surprises.

Overall it's really just about what you're looking for. I was looking for another nier game and got one with better gameplay and a somewhat unusual (for yoko taro at least) happy ending, which was nice.

That wasn't even reddit spacing, faggot. Get your cripplechan memes right nufag

Eh, I'd say no. The really good parts of it come over the course, but if you don't like the game at all to a point where you have to force yourself to play it, it's not magically going to become good.

>all lower caps
>space between question mark
Do you do that on purpose? Do you also intentionally lisp and make a retard voice when talking to people?

So like memesouls? How can you like memesouls and not nier automata? it's the same shit lmao

Yeah, right. Fuck off leaf.

Automata has some serious weak points, namely that the story is very poorly paced.

Side quests are almost always insular and don't really change anything, some do highlight the main story a bit but that's all.

POST THE BOTTOM HALF BITCH

I DARE YOU

...

>tries using a meme from a foreign chan
>fucks it up

That's like double embarassing nigga. Should gas urself lel

What do you think a "leaf" is and why do you feel it is relevant to anything?

They should've just done a cuhrayze slasher like Bayonetta or MGS, because all RPG elements in this game are so out of place.
Why does this game need an open world, it's nothing but a big wasteland with absolutely nothing to do (and you have to revisit the same places over and over again)? Why does this game need side missions, all of them are boring-ass fetchquests that nobody would ever bother to complete? Why does this game need a loot system, I've never changed my starting equipment to anything else because all the things from the shops or stuff that I found is simply worse than what I currently have? You could've told the same story with a linear slasher, with more focus on the gameplay. So why is this game an RPG again?

I'm waiting for an answer to this. I'm waiting for the first Nier to arrive in the mail before I played the second.

>it's a 9S section
>it's for 60% of the game
they should have just put A and B together and put an option on who you want to control. playing over as 9S wasn't fun when he has even less combat options than 2B in a already pretty bare bones game. when you get part C it makes any part with 9S annoying since he already over stayed his welcome and A2 is new and interesting.

Have a (You) I guess

Kind of agree with you. Maybe they should leave lvl and set to extend your chip slots but not your damage/defense.

It's like he thinks the "leaf" meme is used for "people who disagree with you".

He's so shit at memeing he doesn't realize it's reserved for Sup Forums-whiners and sjw-shit posters.

(this is "reddit spacing" btw)

Sup Forums still doesn't understand all action games are mash to bring in casuals and it proves casuals can't into depth in action games
You can the cancer that forces the genre to remain like this, because you can't teach muscle memory depth, you can't teach fighting skills, you can't teach awareness of cancels.

So ALL action games come across as simple, but you only pick shit with the recent releases and say the prior game was good, the reality you still have discovered depth, because there's not enough videos out yet with layers of disturbed being played over them you fucking cherry picking fagmaster that can't get good.

did you like Bayonetta then?

That's a shame. Like I said, I'll try it out again later down the line and see if I feel differently, if not I'll just forget about it. I guess the biggest thing urging me to stick with it is the fact I enjoyed the first Nier after getting used to that initial jank. It had a good amount of support to the plot coming from the characters which were pretty interesting, and maybe this just lacks that? Maybe it just doesn't have that same charm from the smaller budget. Could be anything really, I know I shouldn't be bothered by not liking games but I at least try to make an effort to understand what they're doing.

Oh right, I forgot about the levels. Why do you even need XP and levels? Do you unlock something cool like a pod skill or a weapon when you reach lvl N, or at least get a noticeable boost to damage/HP/whatever? Nope. It's just there because "well, it's an RPG, there are levels and XP in RPG, so let's put it in".

Taro hates filthy speed runners at GDQ so he decided to spite them with a leveling curve where if you speed run to fast you end up underleveled from ignoring side content, not like you should skip the side content at all given it gives you tools later on.

>Taro hates filthy speed runners at GDQ
based

>boost to damage/HP/whatever?
Yes

I don't owe you shit. I love the game. You don't. Feel free to sell it online and go back to playing BotW or FFXV.

>NOTICEABLE boost to damage/HP/whatever
Not really

This.

I was looking at the combat prior to buying this game, looked fun as hell, beautifully animated, lots of different weapon types like Spears, swords etc

And then I play the game and I literally do not replace 2bs weapons at all, because amything new that comes either is flat out worse than my starting weapons or takes ridiculous amounts of materials to upgrade to even see if its better so I dont bother.

And then I start my 9s playthrough and realise we'll be seeing the story from his perspective (I love this kijd of storytelling so I instantly perked up) only to discover that he has one weapon and can 'hack' which is just playing asteroids for a few seconds which takes the flow of the game and stabs it in the heart.

I feel like this game doesnt want me to like it.

I really would love more fighting mechanics rather than evade/strike.
Fury was cool with that, you could charge all your attack and dash distance, also blocking and counter. In Nier Auto there no reason not to hold shot button all time and that bad.

>play on hard
>hardest part of the entire game is the tutorial
>last boss moves 1 shot you sending you back 30 minutes of progress
probably the most emotion I felt from the game was getting through the prologue and reaching the first save point 2b h.

>neo/v/ praises game

If you payed attention, Sup Forums just spammed 2b lewds for a month without any real discussion. If no one's actually talking about gameplay then it's probably a shit game.

Same as fnaf, haydee, berseria, etc.

Well it's kind of obvious you don't play action games that much or if you do you treat them in the casual story telling nature. Try to do combos and pause learn some mechanic depth. 9S has one weapon, but his heavy attacks are hidden behind pauses after light attacks, his charge attack is just holding light. Self destruct cancels on 9S work for launch slam juggle the same as everyone else, except it can cancel from first to third hit light pause cancel heavy

>fighting 9S on Very Hard while underleveled

FUCKING HACKING SECTIONS HOLY SHIT

>berseria
>without any real discussion
You done fucked up. What's next, Persona 5?

Japanese games are usually horribly overrated.

>lower caps
Perhaps you should read your post back to yourself and then reply to it.

Wow all this "stop liking what i don't like!". Nobody forces you to play them.
