Remember all the hype for Planetary annihilation?

Remember the sheer disappointment when it finally was released?

And now it's $5 in a bundle with games better than itself.

It still hurts

e
everytime I play another RTS I just miss all the QoL stuff supcom added to the genre

I mean, technically, is there any game as good? Doesn't have to be set in space.

What about Age of Empires II and Stronhold: Crusader? Or State of War?

They where giving it away for free a while back.

Dunno Im playing the first one right now.
Only thing i can say having finished UEF campaign is that is unbalanced.
Other than that it seems like a blast multiplayer.

QoL?
Quality of Life?

I keep forgetting I have this game

Why was it dissapointing? I was very close to backing the kickstarter.

They fucked everyone whi backed the game.

>promised
>didn't deliver
>made another game and deleted the original one with shit score from steam

yes
like modifying the queue you set for your orders for the units
zooming out completely
looping through the production queue in factories
actually good unit transport controls

It focused too hard on the planet gimmick and suffered for it. Whoop dee doo, they gave us a game ender tech at the cost of making navigation a complete pain and turning all maps into boring flatlands.
Then there's the fact that there's only a single faction and it's more barebones than any of the 4 supcom ones.
Graphics were not everyone's cup of tea. And it didn't help that the game was quite resource draining for its simplistic appearance.
And then there's the whole DRM thing where you had to log into their super special account to play.

i never manage to play multiplayer the official way

Supcom queues were a miracle. You can loop 3 bots 1 arty 1 aa in one factory, then have another factory assist the first one and they'll draw from the same queue.

Not to mention we got that shitty powerup gimmick single player mode instead of an actual campaign.

So... Will anyone answer my question?

SC2 coop is pretty good.

Same as CNC Generals.

...sho-shouldn't these be one of those things that everyone copies from then onward in the genre?

That sounds pretty fucking pivotal for RTS.

And no one else has done this since?

Havent seen any other game do it

In Earth 2140 you could let the AI control a squad of your units. So you could focus on other things. Which was pretty great.

I really miss that feature. Just to be able to select some units and tell them to attack, defend or explore or whatever.

Then there's other stuff in Supcom, like saving whole base templates, having engineers auto-harvest on attack move or patrol and probably some other stuff Im forgetting.

>> like saving whole base templates

>>saving whole base templates

>>whole base templates

...I missed something very special didn't I?

I made a mistake by never picking this up.

Not him, but I believe that was a feature of the expansion.

I only finished the main campaign of Subcom, which were five missions per faction or something. And I had a blast with them. Huge battles.

Yeah, you can memorize building queues and recall them later. Build a factory surrounded with lv1 generators with 2 clicks, things like that.

If you're into SP, no reason not to play it.
If you're into MP, there's Forged Alliance Forever, which is still going strong.

and on top of that, best dual-monitor support ever

No

I remember thinking as a kid how nothing could beat C&C generals, and then I tried SupCom when I had an actual computer to run it.

My god it ruined the rest of the entire genre for me.

I don't think any other RTS games has experimental units that are as destructive as the ones in Subcom. They can destroy entire armies.

Could you give a equally quick answer as to not bother because of SP?

That's not I meant at all.
Assuming you're the user who regrets never picking it up, I'm saying that there's no reason not to do it now, whatever your preferences (SP or MP).

Oops, misread, my bad.

Also, remember that the latest official patch removed any form or DRM, so you can play MP (with FAF) even with a pirate copy.
