Bland as all get out

The dunk disapproves, apparently

>inb4 muh e-celebs

>e-celeb shit

>The e-celeb that openly advocates for jon

Based Dunkster. I knew he'd see the light.

>get to the first boss, rampo
>have to roll up a hill while avoiding falling logs to take out the boss
>camera is angled downwards so you can't see what's coming at you from above
>have to slow right down if you want to jump over anything
>boss has thorn bushes on either side of him (which knock you all the way back down if you touch them while getting to the top) because fuck you
>last phase makes the logs unavoidable, you have to jump over them instead of maneuvering around
>if you get hit you slide back down, and since you can't jump while sliding you'll inevitably hit every single wave of logs until you reach the bottom

The game design in general is a mess. Who thought this was a good idea? I want to drop this game and I haven't even finished the first world yet.

I have similar opinions about Kazooie and Tooie as Dunkey. I guess I'll buy Bayonetta instead.

This is a death sentence as far as I'm concerned. Dunk is funny and he knows what he's fucking talking about so I trust the hell out of him. Will play it for myself when I can, though.

>I didn't even know he was in the game until you said he was out

Playtonic is never going to fucking recover from this, are they?

Pretty comfy 2bh

No one even uploaded it to my private tracker yet.
Gonna play Bayonetta until then.

...

>literally one person that posted indicated he even played it

so I hear its more Banjo Tooie than Banjo Kazooie?

>try to distance yourself from white supremacist
>become inexorably bound to him in the process

It feels like banjo kazooie but with good controls and camera.

I like it.

Apparently it gets bland after the first level, I'll see about that.

Sup Forums told me to hate it, so I hate it

you don't "avoid controversy" by addressing it publicly

I'm about to start the second world and the game is good so far, it's about what I expected from this game actually, like 100% exact which is surprising. I do have to say fuck the stamina meter though, it just slows everything down.

I've never played Kazooie or Tooie and I'm loving the game so far 3 hours in.

>being on shit private trackers
Kek, iptorrents and ugamer master race

Any anons playing the ps4 version? Does it run ok?

In terms of level size and back tracking. Yes.

its ogre

The camera is bad. Not terrible, but worse than it has any right to be.
Unskippable cutscenes and camera motions are annoying.
The levels are kind of empty.
Yooka-Laylee feels kind of floaty, especially changing directions is rather eh. Not too bad.
Fuck the energy bar.
Characters are well done.
Music is great.
The rap is crap.
The gameplay so far is pretty damn bland, sadly.

Lots of charm, not much substance so far.

I think you can still move pretty fast by doing double jumps and the aerial attack.

But yeah ultimately it's a bad idea.

Also the Y stun thingy stops working from time to time which is really annoying.

Plays ok, though the first world feels a bit cluttered. Doesn't have the open area feeling ghat Banjo Kazooie had.

I would tell you if I could actually play it and my controller wasn't unchangeably mapped to player 2.

>The dunk disapproves, apparently
And i give a shit because.......

I haven't run into any major issues so far.

Dunk's always on point. Except for the time he doubled back on his tlou opinion.

Didn't Jontron end up liking Zelda once he got off the plateau though?

because you reply instead of report hide ignore

you bothered to reply?

Here's a bit of info regarding development

gamasutra.com/view/news/289181/YookaLaylee_devs_7_biggest_game_design_changes_since_the_N64_era.phpr

>just play Psychonauts
I've been craving a platformer for weeks now and forgot I even owned this game. Guess I'll start knowing that Yooka-Laylee is more similar to Tooie with less substance.

I remember something along that line

because e-celeb cancer.
and if you disagree you are apparently a shill

>I've been craving a platformer for weeks now and forgot I even owned this game.
I'd recommend this

As I said in the last thread:

It's not terrible but it's not super great either. Would give it a 6/10 or 7/10 from what I've played so far. Feels like they took a lot more inspiration from Tooie than Kazooie (which is in my opinion a bad thing; Kazooie was definitely better as a game).

I'm not sure how to feel about having backed it. It'll probably be something I play through once and not something I go back to like I still do with the original BK.

>literally not a single button on the keyboard is bound to "B"
>literally can't say "no" to prompts
>literally no way to rebind keys, not even a config file outside the game
literally

No one said anything of the sorts, jeez

Here's the news: you don't have to give a shit!

It's alright. Pretty much what I expected. Runs like ass on my toaster but that's my fault for playing games on a laptop

Those were some classy recommendations at the end. Not enough people have played the newer Rayman games.

The game is bad. I thought reviewers were being hard on it but 7/10 is actually going easy. This is a 5/10 game, tops.

This.

And I was expecting exactly this, a fun 7/10 game, far from perfect but enjoyable in its own way.

I'll 100% it and probably never play it again.

I also think it's pretty beautiful and the fact that the framerate is uncapped is a HUGE plus, it's smooth as silk on my 144Hz monitor.

Comfy/10

>the last minute is just him telling you about better games
how will they recover

I spent 45 minutes trying to judge the jumps over the logs
I kept jumping too soon or too far

The camera was my biggest enemy

eta of steam sale?

Hm.

Could be I played all those fucking games and will just play something new, too?

>The camera was my biggest enemy
So just like the Biolizard in SA2?
Fuck yes, Im buying 2 copies now

It's shit

>hey guys our kickstarter is blatant nostalgia bait that everyone stopped caring about ca 1998
>okay have 2 million dollars
>we made the game now
>wtf this is just blatant nostalgia bait

>guy that put rare into this mess in the first place
>playtronic retweeted
anyone dumb enough to buy this game might as well be playing nuts and bolts

>guy that put rare into this mess in the first place
I had no idea Spencer was Nintendo

nintendo didn't turn rare into a kinect sports development team

How do I even get my steam code if I backed it? I was never sent an email and I don't see anything on the kickstarter page.

Nintendo sold their ass to Microsoft

I was expecting the worst and so far I'm enjoying it a lot. I think reviewers are just really bad at games or something. I remember reading this tip list from gameradar and it said skip the first boss because it's impossible but it's pretty clear the dude has no clue you can move slowly or even stop on ramps while rolled into a ball.

well, if your pretend friend doesn't like it you should shill against it as hard as possible user, i hear a great place its called

>>reddit

and microsoft underutilized them massively?
how is it nintendo's fault that they determined them to no longer be valuable?

brutal

they made they're greatest title to date (Viva Pinata) under microsoft

>have to slow right down if you want to jump over anything
holy fuck I was wondering how you were supposed to get back the third wave. I thought you couldn't jump because I tried without slowing down so I assumed you weren't able to.

I had to get through the first two waves just weaving in and out of the logs, which is hard as shiton the second phase when you have razor thin spaces in between.

I got to the third phase and realized "I must be doing it wrong" so I came to this thread to ask.

Can people really be this bad at video games? That fight is piss easy if you are patient.

Fuck off, hipster

Yeah just jump over the logs you twats

Not a hipster

Listening and sharing e-celeb shit reeks of elementary school, though.

What is the starting health

I'm enjoying it quite a bit, its a literal homage to BK.

Maybe too much though and that's whats going to turn people off to it

And his irrational hatred for the Arkham games.

okay? thats my point?
they had the capability to make great games even under microsoft, but microsoft themselves decided they would be better off making gimmick kinect games for eternity, its all phil spencer's fault.

>They used Unity
Oh you've gotta be fucking kidding? Really? I didn't know about this.

This, he was right there

He gave a legitimate review of the game. His opinions matters just as much as anyone else's.

>irrational

It's a quality engine which a quality game like Yooka proves

So I played through the first two levels.
I played kazooie and tooie back then and loved them. Kazooie is the better game though. I also backed 20€ for this.

And let's be real guys. This game a 6/10, at most a 7/10 but I would consider it too much.
This game has the rare/kazooie charm you know from kazooie and tooie. That's the biggest plus in my opinion. But after the first level it doesn't feel like kazooie. The second world was a chore to play through. I liked the minecart thing though. Dunkey is also right with the characters. They're good and well designed but in the level they're just placed on some random dumb place. It just doesn't feel right. For exampüle mumbo's house in kazooie was perfect.
Can't say much about anything else. The music up until now is greath though. I don't know why dunkey doesn't like it.

I expected more but it is what it is. 6/10.
Don't regret my 20€. But would probably not buy for 40€ with the knowledge I have until now.

>ecelebs

Who the fuck cares

Are you such a mental cripple that you can't try something for yourself and form your own opinion?

Pathetic

welp its dead on arrival now

I WANTED IT TO BE GOOD!!!
I would've paid for it, goddamnit.

The level design is all over the palce.
The world is big and has barely anything interesting in it.
It has a total of 1 enemy type (+ sub type) and around 6 of them when you first explore the world.

Welp, another few bucks saved by piracy.

Don't need to play the game to know it's shit.

Should I get this or the new Hitman?

fucking kek

I wonder how it feels to get blown the fuck out by Snakepass

>video game
>game
>implies that you play

You literally can't form a valid opinion until you've played the game in some form. You're just a fucking sheep at that point if all you believe is what unqualified sources spoon feed you for jollies so they can make money off your views

Yes.

>iptorrents
>master race

pick one

>You have to buy it and play it before you know it's bad!
>Reviews don't count!

Haha, okay.

That's how forming an opinion works you mongoloid. Are you trolling?

Basing your purchasing off of others opinions doesn't suddenly mean you've formed your own opinion, you've just been influenced because you're weak willed

gonna get torn apart for this but can anyone generously tell me how to pirate this shit? I.. I usually buy my games..

Humongous Entertainment did it better

I'm downloading a skidrow version - I more meant do I need to do this whole cracking (?) process that I don't understand?

He did.

>basing your opinion around the existing opinions of others makes you weak willed
no, not basing your opinion around the existing opinions of others makes you a fucking retard

why are you even on Sup Forums discussing videogames?

>would like making a mario64/banjokazooie game
>unity is fucking awful even with the amazing community efforts
>unreal is unreasonable for anything that isn't CoD
