Which souls game is the most atmospheric?

Which souls game is the most atmospheric?

Ds3 unless we count Bloodborne

Less is more.

Can't give a 100% honest opinion because I haven't played Demon's, but of the four Souls games I've played I would say Bloodborne.

Demon's

BB >> DeS > DaS > DaSIII > DaSII

2

flip des with das imo

They're pretty close. Perhaps a = is in order.

>BB >> DeS = DaS > DaSIII > DaSII
I would say this is spot on

How do you determine this?
with noises and fog?

I'd say DaS, mostly because
>muh open world
>muh lack of warping for the first half of the game

They can be part of atmosphere sure

perfects

Demon's

I guess a filthy public bathroom does have an 'atmosphere' to it.

DaS has some fucking incredibly atmospheric areas
>first entering Ash Lake
>heading down into the New Londo and finding mountains of corpses
>all of Tomb of the Giants
>when you get that final Lord Soul and open up the door to the Kiln

God I love that game

...

>How do you determine this?
It's a very loose and subjective thing, and every aspect of the game's design contributes.
What game world drew you in the most, or made you feel a distinct way about the areas you were in for reasons other than poor design?

DaS

>lost izalith
>demon ruins
>darkroot forest
>anor londo
>painted world aramis
>great hollow
>catacombs

>Sup Forums will almost unanimously agree that the up-to-eleven-and-beyond grimdarkness of BB outclasses the melancholic tone of Demons and Dark Souls 1.

Truly sad times, my friend. Sad times, indeed.

I actually find Ds2 to be very atmospheric. The whole thing is like a fever dream. The disconnection of areas (even that iron keep shit), differences in actual distances, etc just further solidifies this opinion for me.

i think its almost unfair to have 3 second last. It's significantly more atmospheric than 2 and not far off 1 or des.

perhaps more >>>>

Of dark souls id have to say 2. Everywhere you go in that game just has an atmosphere of loneliness and it never lets up. Ds1 has some very atmospheric areas but start to finish in ds2 is like that. Ds1 is better overall but in terms of atmosphere id have to give to to ds2.

Feels bad man
>tfw seeing the bloody rags and the empty bonfire and realising Lautrec is gone
>being dropped off in Anor Londo
>that sudden darkness and emptiness when you kill Gwenevere
>tfw you get rekt by Seath and respawn in fucking prison

I know Sup Forums likes to say a lot of shit about how the difficulty is overhyped but holy shit that game comes close to a 10/10

I have to agree.

Not only that but you literally go from magma lakes to distant ice-covered plateaus.
From the darkest depths to stone peaks full of dragons.

Shulva in particular is maybe one of my favorite soulsborne areas. I just love how it's full of odd angles and it loops back on itself many times.

It's just a shame that most of the core areas of the game look very bland and underdesigned and that's what most people remember.

If you posted that picture on Sup Forums they'd have an autistic meltdown since they think they're all geniuses on that board. I'm serious, go spend 10 minutes on Sup Forums, and see how they word their posts. Also see how they interact with each other, they probably love smelling their own farts. Sup Forums is really narcissistic and arrogant, they all think they know everything.

I'll admit that the step out to the drake bossfight in the giant birdcage is fucking stunning and so is Dragon Aerie but I feel the disconnect makes the game feel less personal and more like an art showcase
In DaS I felt like I really did find Artorias' grave and I really did slog my way through a shithole when I got out of Blighttown
It creates this magical familiarity with the world that DaSII just doesn't hold for me

and yet it's so much better than here. Crossboarders are the only decent posters on this shithole and that's the way it's always been.

DS1 does everything the best, why even ask?

>grimdark
>pejorative

literally nothing wrong edgy themes you post-ironic whore

Ds3 literally has no atmosphere what are you talking about
It felt like I was walking through levels not like I was walking through a real world

Anime is just a poor man's daytime television, which continuing on is just a poor man's cinema, which, again, is just a poor man's literature.

They watch low IQ dogshit cartoons on par with the worst of the worst of Sup Forums, yet think they have all the literary expertise of /lit/ and the counter-culture aesthetic of Sup Forums.

I didn't say there was, but it's not better than Dark Souls, let alone Demons. :^)

I understand this. It's just a different type of atmosphere.

DaS as a whole, probably. I would say Demon's, but the annoying manta ray enemies in Shrine of Storms really bring down my enjoyment for the rest of the world.
DaS has Painted World, Sen's, Anor Londo, and Ash Lake which are all very strong. Shrine of Storms, and especially Tower of Latria were fantastic, but DaS beats DeS out in sheer quantity.

I guess you're right

DS3's world was the most atmospheric, but disjointed by that
DS2's world was the most grounded, but rushed
DS1's world was the most consistent, but tiny

ds1

Bloodborne. No contest. Anyone who says otherwise is an elitist PCfat.

overall? Bloodborne
single area? Latria (and it's not even close)
