Also i'd prefer to play on mac, but i might be willing to turn on my pc

Brogue

>it's a """rogue"""lite faggot pretends a platformer and an action game are roguelikes episode

>Brogue
?

That's a shoe according to google

>Super Meat Boy
>roguelike

Super meat boy is a platformer, not a roguelike.

Play FTL and Binding of Isaac

>"""rogue"""lite faggot pretends a platformer and an action gam

Whatever man, i like propper rougelike games too, Just rec me some games cunt

>>Super Meat Boy
>>roguelike

I also said difficult

>Play FTL and Binding of Isaac

Ive played them both and i love them both a lot,
And before you recomend the new binding of isaac ive also playyed that one, unless there is an even newer one

Adom or Elona

Super Meat Boy isn't a roguelike

When you phrase it as "difficult rouglike sorta games" most people would assume you assume you're referring to roguelikes or roguelites.

>Brogue
sites.google.com/site/broguegame/home

>log base e instead of ln

is this common somewhere else in the world?

Type in brogue game, obviously.
You can visit /rlg/ over on /vg/ for a list, tips, and help with games and which to play. The games you listed in the OP are not roguelikes and I feel you are getting the wrong impression and are going to get upset because roguelikes are not like crypt of the necrodancer or super meat boy, etc

Cogmind is pretty fucking cool
Caves of Qud is also fantastic

seconding elona

I just right log if it's base e.
Sometimes I might right ln, depending on who it's intended for.

Tales of majeyal is fucking awesome if you like having tons of classes. The graphics are not ascii but not mind blowing by any means. Its free and for windows mac and i believe linux. If you buy it on steam you get all the donator features (1 class that dual weilds shields, i think a race of dwarf and storage inside a vault.) Also you get workshop access through steam. My favorite class is archmage and summoner.

Thirding elona, be sure to get elona+ it is still being developed

>going to /rlg/ and asking for something "sorta like Super Meat Boy or like Crypt of the necrodancer"
This is sure to end well.

I write log when I'm intending it for your mum lmao

Donators get to enjoy a special class: Possessors (was Stone Wardens before version 1.5). They are a strange psionic class that can snatch the bodies of its foes to replace its own. It can also use them as temporary minions, steal foes talents, clone a foe's body and his proficient in a variety of combat and psionic casting techniques to complement the stolen bodies.

No, that wasn't my intent. They have a list of good roguelike games, and I was warning OP that they are not like those games he listed.

Try Infra Arcana.

Correct me if im wrong, But crypt of the necrodancer is a rougelike if you play the propper game with the leaderboard? Becasue a death puts you all the way in the back of the game ?

What about spelunky ?

Eitherway i like the concept of a game where death is something to worry about

Spelunky has some elements of the genre but not a proper rouge-like. I would classify them more as arcadey or something like that.

You can assume anything that is not turn based on a grid but has permadeath to be a "roguelite".

No. It is not entirely turn based. Neither is the other one you listed. Permanent death does not a roguelike make

Definitely play Tales of Majeyal and thank me later.

Thanks for the clarification, what i meant was permadeath

That being said some of the actual rougelike games recomended here are interesting me

Though "roguelite" is a retarded and pointless term, you'll probably find games you like if you search for that genre.

Also what do you guys think of Dex ( Ik its not rougelite)

Most of them require a lot of depth to understand them. Elona+, for instance, is extremely complex but it's also hilarious and if you're good or dedicated enough you can summon the gods and make every one of them your pet. Brogue is simple and probably the closest one to the original rogue you'll ever play

Why do people never recommend DCSS? It's the most popular roguelike. Is it because it's too obvious of a recommendation? Or because of the removals?

That description excited me, ill remember to get elona when i get on my pc

I'm so addicted to Elona. I'm a 33 year old male gunner who weighs 20kg from vomiting after eating cursed food, I just married my pet little girl (who's now 20), and put a "younger sister" in my ranch so she can asexually reproduce. I fucking love this game
