Yeah always play on hardest on NG+. It is a breeze to play regardless but at least you can sometimes die on merciless. Sae became likeable after that interrogation, but yes she still pisses me off.

I probably just suck but my first playthrough Hard actually gave me some difficulty, specifically the Madarme fight, I think I played that fight and the next dungeon on Normal before I switched back to Hard. But I wanna try to just blast through Merciless without adjusting the difficulty on NG+.

Doctor gives better healing items, no SP recovery, but good potions means less healing by Makoto/Cat. Sojiro lets you make SP potions one per night... but you shouldn't have SP problems unless it is a boss and you aren't using the whole party... on HARD or higher.

probably bad move management + overuse of high level skills, but yeah DrTits has an item when you get her like.. rank 7 or 8 that restores 6 SP each turn in battle, that item alone let me grind for hours and hours in palaces/mementos

Why would you ignore doc? She's opened up so early when you have almost no other Links available anyway, it's easy to get her to rank 3 or 4 without sacrificing time with anybody else.

Anyway, she sells accessories that give you free SP on your turn in battle, exactly like the Invigorate passives. I slap them on 3 of my party members (4th is Yusuke, who only uses magic to knock down bufu weak enemies anyway) and I'm only just now (5th dungeon) starting to have to limit SP usage a bit.
