LGBT character in western game

that's because japan makes the character and then makes then LGBT without compromising their Personality
The West meanwhile makes a LGBT character and builds their entire personality around it so it's obnixious as fuck
>The West meanwhile makes a LGBT character and builds their entire personality around it so it's obnixious as fuck
But they don't?
She was made a lesbian after the fact, not really important in a multiplayer shooter either
Most of them do.
Tracer is an exception tho.
aren't you tired of complaining about this every single day just to hear the same reply , which is correct?
>Gook character
>Acts normal, does their thing, digging around into their background reveals they're gay
>West character
>OHBTWIMAHOMO did I tell you how much I just LOVE sucking cock? It's amazing you should totes try it sometime!!
I wonder what the problem is.
Reducing your character to a PR stunt is just as bad. Not that she had any depth to begin with.
We all just call her the dyke when we refer to her now.
>First thing you actually learn about her as a character is that she has a girlfriend
Nice example there buddy.
>HEY I`M A LESBIAN HAVE YOU SEEN MY WIFE?!
Firing my cogs already. The amount of depth is astounding.
>aren't you tired of complaining about this every single day
You're either imagining threads or it is someone else.
>Reducing your character to a PR stunt is just as bad.
How was it a pr stunt? She's also the face of the game so everything is a pr stunt to some degree.
>First thing you actually learn about her as a character is that she has a girlfriend
This isn't close to true.
Do enlighten me as to her actual character then, rather than just saying "no that's wrong" and thinking this solves anything.
She's a test pilot, she's british, she's friends with winston who fixed her condition, she's the youngest member of overwatch, she's spunky.
How do any of those things make her a character though? This is a list of traits. Then when you see some actual character doing things BAM lesbian.
They had comics with her before the holiday one.
I guess I'll take your word for it then.
because japan panders to my dick instead of people who don't even play video games
>>OHBTWIMAHOMO did I tell you how much I just LOVE sucking cock? It's amazing you should totes try it sometime!!
Name a game.
Alright, now describe Han Solo to me without referencing his appearance or profession.
Then do the same with Tracer.
Simple: Borderlands Presequel.
That's because it's done for different reasons.
Japan does it for one of two reasons;
>something strange, bizarre or different
>different fetish than the norm
Usually, it's done for fetish.
This, Guilty Gear is a great example of this. Daisuke made Bridget cause he thought it'd be cool, not cause he was trying to push a political message or be "progressive."
Western devs usually do this sorta shit for """"diversity"""" and to push a feminist agenda.
>Western devs usually do this sorta shit for """"diversity"""" and to push a feminist agenda.
Source?
the head sucks but the clothing looks cool. what game?
Describe your own character then without using any traits.
Japs make some endearing LGBT characters.
Compare my main man Bon Clay to Marvel's Miss America.
That basically sums up everything you need to know.
It's Undertale, and it's fanart that has nothing to do with the game.
Do you live under a rock?
A guy with a ballerina tutu is more interesting and manlier than majority of marvel nu-niverse.
This is indeed the age of decadence.
>describe character
>don't use traits
Personality traits you tard. Being a lesbian is not personality.
Personality is an important part of a character.
>She's a test pilot, she's british, she's friends with winston who fixed her condition, she's the youngest member of overwatch, she's spunky.
Where does it say she's a lesbian? Describing someone's character without using any personality traits is ridiculous, how else would you describe anyone?
>Literally as flamingly flamboyant and faggoty as it gets and paints cross dressers/gays in a over the top nonsensical light
>good character
errrr...nah If you made every gay character like that then people would would painting all gays in stereotypes and belittling them
A better example would have been someone like pic related or James from Pokemon.
Or this guy.
When japs do make an lgbt character its mostly subtle because they don't want to reduce the amount of waifus for neets to sperg over so drag it out as long as possible.
Yes it is. Of which none have been listed
Only ONE of those is a personality trait, and it's awfully vague.
Here, I got one for you:
She's hotblooded, and somewhat bipolar. Her greatest drive is to be noticed by others due to the mental trauma cause by seeing her mother commit suicide at a young age. She has a hot cold romantic relationship with the main character, with first really hating him, but over time, growing to accept him. She's fiery and very competent at everything she does, she's also incredibly popular, and admired by many. She's the type of person to fearlessly charge headfirst into battle with no second thought, and take control of a situation.
Who am I describing?
Okay.
Growing up, her only parent was her father, and they moved around a lot for his occupation. Thus, she never formed a connection with anyone other than him. He died while on a job, leaving her orphaned. The one bond she had formed in her childhood having been stripped away from her, she finds it difficult to connect with others. Her idolization of her father has led her to follow in his footsteps, which haunts her, as she struggles with the realization that her own life is empty and directionless.
Notice how I made no mention of her occupation (other than it's the same as her father's), her nationality or ethnicity, her role in any sort of organization or her personality.
i wish the brown chick wasn't brown, didn't have glasses, and had an actual haircut
yeah
Hisoka is pretty cool too
I love it when they make a characters sexuality really ambiguous.
Shit like Puri-Puri prisoner makes me wretch though. Its about as childish as it gets when it comes to the subject. Like some sort of weird gay "black-face" if you will.
>that description
cringe
I have no idea who you are describing, but you used personality traits to describe someone and my point was that was talking nonsense because he said personality traits have nothing to do with someone's character.
...
It's a class based shooter, if you want something that in depth play a story based game.
When Tracer meets her gf in a comic suddenly her entire character is lesbian.
When torb kisses his wife in a comic nobody complains.
The entire One Piece series is over the top and nonsensical.
Bon Clay doesn't have to be a well wrriten character to be an enjoyable and endearing one.
Guys like Seto Kaiba literally swim in shit writing, but he's an all around enjoyable character simply because of how ridiculous he is.
Besides, character's that play on stereotypes can be great, like Carl Brutananadilewski.
She's a cheery and optimistic person who typically sees the best in people. She's one of the first to jump at the chance to help people or push the boundaries of what's possible in her field of expertise, even when it means putting her life on the line. In fact it did put her life on the line once, which makes her willingness to keep at it all the more poignant. She has shown a tendency to hold a grudge, particularly when it's related to a failure of hers.
All of this is known and shown through a combination of promotional material and in-game voice lines prior to that comic coming out.
Is it?
>The West meanwhile makes a LGBT character and builds their entire personality around it so it's obnixious as fuck
uh Hello?
Griffith is alot like Dio Brando for me, sex is just a manner of getting what he wants, be it money or revenge.
The first half of your post describes the father, not her, then you say she has difficulties socializing which is a personality trait, just as following her father's footsteps is.
I don't know why multiple people are arguing this point now, but every person has different traits and all of them put together make out their character.
I knew he was based on Static's gay friend from the comics, but I didn't know he was actually gay in the series. Huh.
>Carl from ATHF
>a stereotype
of what?
He's just a selfish, conceited loser who hates his neighbors (for a good reason).
who the fuck is he a stereotype of? hes just loser.
yeah it was hinted at.
>as a character
Her SO being a woman has nothing to do with her own character. You're just shitposting because you are yet another contrarian autist who gets irrationally upset at the mere mention of this kind of thing. You know it, I know it, we all know it. There is no "personality trait" anyone can list that you won't simply brush off as not passing your invisible standard for what a personality trait can be, like you've already done.
Japanese lesbian characters are feminine, friendly, and there's nothing especial about them besides the fact that they like girls.
Western lesbians are politicized macho abominations
Just played through Tides of Numenera for the second time and I didn't even know Tybir was gay until I did his quest.
Tracer was absolutely designed as le goodie two shoes because they don't want a lesbian character portrayed in any kind of a negative light.
She's pro-omnic (aka immigrant) rights for no actual reason, there are zero things in her backstory which would lead her to that stance while other characters have logical bases for their beliefs.
But Taro didn't bring gay or futa characters in his games for either of those. Paraphrasing here "These people are out there, and they have feelings too. I'm not saying don't discriminate, I'm just saying that they exist"
Look, not that guy, but shut the fuck up and do what I did here And see if they pass the test.
Some people got exactly who I was describing, and I made NO mention of her job or appearance.
Only her personality, drives, and interactions with other characters.
Having an SO or a girlfriend is NOT a personality trait, your sexual preferences are NOT personality traits.
A character who is gay can either be masculine like Freddie Mercury or Bon Clay, Bishi and cold like Griffith, or overly flamboyant like HIM from PPG.
Saying, "they're gay" does NOT describe personality.
Autism intensifies
So what exactly is Bungee Gum?
Shit, wrong post, I meant here
>of what?
Series creator of ATHF Dave Willis designed him to be a stereotype of men in general. That's common knowledge when it comes to the dude.
>Tracer was absolutely designed as le goodie two shoes because they don't want a lesbian character portrayed in any kind of a negative light
user pls, they just made a hero lesbian but I guess it's ok when Japan does this.
>She's pro-omnic (aka immigrant) rights for no actual reason, there are zero things in her backstory which would lead her to that stance while other characters have logical bases for their beliefs.
She actually shows it a bit in her voice lines with Zenny.
I think it's more that they wanted the face of the game to be one of the good guys.
>She's pro-omnic (aka immigrant)
She's pro-omnic, everything else is your interpretation. Omnics are robots, not immigrants. This is an entirely different issue. It's stupid to take a game that is completely unrelated to real world politics and insert real world politics. Also what part of Tracer's backstory contradicts her stance on omnics?
ITT: some Tracerfag who is desperately trying to defend the character design
It's ok when Japan does it, because Japan does it well, and they're not trying to push an agenda.
it has the qualities of both
RUBBER
and
GUM
> a stereotype of men in general
so just BEER,TITS and CARS?
too bad not every man is like that.
She's cheery and optimistic in general, makes sense she'd be optimistic about whether humans and omnics could live together peacefully. If anything it'd be completely disjointed if she were to turn around and say "yeh omnics are shite m8, glass em all"
What agenda are they pushing with Tracer.
No it's not you fucking retard
>Western lesbians are politicized macho abominations
Tracer is a macho abomination?
>she's spunky
That's the only personality trait in that list.
I'm not blaming you, that's her ONLY personality trait. Shitty blizzard writing.
...
Feminist
>so just BEER,TITS and CARS?
Yes, that's what stereotype means.
>a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image
Name some japanese games with LTGB in them
Explain how
>and they're not trying to push an agenda.
Why does it seem like any LGBT character in western game will get this no matter what.
Even if it's some indie dev he's still pushing an agenda for ((them)).
I don't remember this
>ctrl + f "SJW"
>only shows up in the OP, who is trying to defend that shit
Eat a dick.
>your sexual preferences are NOT personality traits
Right, I said that.
Why do you require a compete background synopsis for any of those characters, though? It's a multiplayer shooter. The only character traits (not personality, but character) required are those necessary to be shown to make sense of whatever content they're releasing.
You guys are just using the fact that we don't know about her childhood hobbies to try to justify your opinion that we shouldn't have been exposed to the fact that she's dating a chick.
That's what it boils down to. Don't try to deny it.
Puri-Puri Prisoner is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's a lot like Bon Clay, just a hair more over the top. Also he's one of the few side characters who has had actual character development, so that's a plus.
...
Is there any faggot who has suffered more than Emil?
d-damn
>20XX
>still associating LGB with T
If problems socializing is part of someone personality, then I don't understand why socializing preferably with certain kinds of people is not also part of someone's personality.
Be that as it may, the reveal that Tracer had a girlfriend was about half a year after release, when she was already established as a character. And I don't see how liking people of the same gender just negates your entire personality.
Also why does no one climb on the barricades because other characters in the same comic were shown having relationships with people of different genders? Showing someone is gay is political, showing someone is heterosexual is normal or what?
There are gay people out in the world, and Jeff Kaplan even said they just want to show "normal things being normal" during a presentation at the latest DICE summit.
>ywn have a cuhrayzee character action undertale game where you dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge, the cuhrayzee shit that undying undyne throws at her
Persona/SMT
MGS
Zelda
Mario
KH/yaoi bait.
Saturation of progressive agenda throughout media
You can deny it but must do so in a way that also acknowledges that not even ten years ago you wouldn't see such a calculated push of homosexuality and coincidentally progressive ideals being pushed throughout media by people who are coincidentally SJWs.
Now try other sjw buzzwords, like LGBT you dumb faggot.
>muh empowered mary sue female who don't need no man
>muh LGBTQRSPFXCT rights
>""""""diversity"""""""
When Japan writes a "progressive" character, they don't do it with gender identity politics in mind, they just think it could be an interesting aspect to explore.
Example:
animediet.net
>In Guilty Gear, there is a character called Bridget. Bridget is considered one of the first transgender character in games. What was the process of creating Bridget, and what inspired you to make the character transgender?
>I guess I couldn’t pin the inspiration for the character on any one thing. But when we are making new characters, we are always looking for some new element to add to the character to make it interesting and fun, and while we were making Bridget, that was the element.
>Did you realize it was a milestone when you did it?
>I wasn’t thinking about; I didn’t realize.
>we
top lolu

>LGBT character in western game
>reeee tubmlr! sjws!
>Lesbian character in japanese game

Hi Sup Forums.
When Japan makes LGBT characters they either treat them as a joke or a fetish for straight men, they have no depth. When the west does it, its for virtue signaling bullshit to get the press or people to talk about the game, and those characters also have no depth to them.
Joel, pls.
We all know why you made this thread.
Half the cast of Guilty Gear is full of gays, and Bridget is the first trans ever in vidya.
