Why do consoles still exist?

So many great games get butchered on consoles. Why doesn't everyone release their games on PC?

Piratefags ruined PC

Consoles are alive everywhere on the planet. While PC is just a meme in some part's, most importantly Japan.

Because they'd have to then design them to run on those pre-built toasters in big-box stores.

pc is for work, console is for play

Different markets.

This.

Games go to where money is, and it's not on PC. Pirating destroyed it, check the most played (supported) games on PC are shallow cashgrabs.
Games like League of Legends, CS:GO, H1Z1, make tons of money from cosmetics.
PC Users don't want to play games, they want to look pretty.

>Piratefags ruined PC

This. It's not even a secret, all the devs and publishers just flat out say it's why.

pc wannabes aren't consoles
consoles are dead OP

Only games on the weaker consoles aka Microsoft, Nintendo.

Last gen nothing on PC looked better than killzone, uncharted, the last of us. This gen nothing on pc looks better than Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn etc.

I have gaming rig equipped with i7 6700k, 970gtx and i have Nintendo Switch and PS4 Pro.

Most consumers don't associate PC's with gaming.

imagine you had a device that allowed you to completely corner a market of the mentally retarded and most willing to part with their money. This is why consoles exist.

Blame Japan and Nintendo for starting the console trend. At the same time we gotta thank them for kickstarting video games.

>atari

pc games sell like shit
>b..b..but valkyrie and nier

is shit if they sold more on consoles at full price and no discount

Haha consoles are so shit!

*begs for 8 year old console ports*

>At the same time we gotta thank them for kickstarting video games.

The great global videogame crash is a myth. There's was like two years of a sales downturn, that's all, and this only really happened in America. If Nintendo didn't exist then it would have been SEGA that "saved" gaming. If both Nintendo and SEGA didn't exist then there would have been somebody else. Video games are just too good an idea, they weren't going to vanish overnight because people got bored of Atari.

>most willing to part with their money
nigger please, you can't pretend like on the surface, getting a $260 PS4 that can run some pretty decent games isn't appetizing compared to getting a PC. If you have a large budget and are tech savvy, then PC is absolutely the way to go, but otherwise consoles make perfect sense

Around 75% of the population own a home computer whereas 40% own a console. It's not a choice between a console or a PC, you're probably going to have a PC either way.

Because those "games that get butchered on consoles" wouldn't exist without consoles.

I woke up this morning and hit the power button on my riced as fuck rig with bright as shit neon water-cooled lighting, 6 graphix cards and premium components, immediately clicked on internet explorer, headed to Sup Forums, and decided to post about how shit consoles are.

They're not even cheap m8

>ps4 = $200
>shit tier pc every 5 years = $300 (99.9999999999999 percent of console gamers buy this)
>5 years oline = $300 (90 percent of console gamers will buy this)

>pc capable of beating the ps4 PRO = $700
>pc capable of beating the normal one = literally anything semi recent

Consoles are more profitable. 30% of PCbros pirate and you can nickel and dime people on console much easier.

Because not everyone is smart enough to build a reasonable PC at a budget price. Consoles give a low standard for them, but at least it can be plugged in and updated easily.

While Nintendo's role as the savior of the video game crash tends to be overblown, the NES ultimately did help Japanese developers help expose their games to a wider userbase than they would've have if they had remained PC-only, considering the PCs they had back then in Japan (PC-88, MSX, ect.) were mutually incompatible to what was available in the west (Amiga, C64). There's a reason why Super Mario Bros. and Zelda became instant classic, while stuff like Dragon Slayer and the MSX Metal Gears remained obscure in the west for years.

they can't afford it. most normies only have a phone and maybe a laptop. They can't just buy a $300 graphics card and toss it into a pc.

Because I don't feel like buying a thousand dollar machine to play children's toys and having to upgrade it every year or two tho play the newest toys appropriately
Also, other hobbies more time consuming than vidya

I'm sure that 75% have high end rigs and not just basic stuff for work, right?

I just want you retards to know that you're the reason this site is garbage.

console exclusivity only exists to promote sales of consoles.

Fuck off.

>have to upgrade every year or two

This isn't true.

I'm sure integrated graphics is going to be enough for post 2010 games.

pirates and cheaters my man

True

It is if you want to play new games, unless you're a raging autist who drops over a thousand dollars on parts that will be half the price a year later

Because pandering to the lowest common denominator makes more money. It's smart business.

It's not smart innovation, but that doesn't make money, does it?

PC is dead in Japan (the only country that makes good games).

>Why doesn't everyone release their games on PC?
PC is a niche market, believe it or not. You only think it's not because your circle is based around it. Besides, PCs are basically just PowerPoint machines in Japan, which is where every game people say "HURR DURR WHY ISN'T THIS ON PC" comes from.

Does stacking the current generation consoles like that cause issues?

I have it nailed into my head that it's horrible for the disc drive because of the 360, but I wonder if the build quality has made it acceptable.

Because PC gaming is garbage. You should be happy that console gaming is still a thing so you can get some leftovers.

>I have it nailed into my head that it's horrible for the disc drive because of the 360
What? Never heard about this.

I have a dreamcast stacked over a wii U stacked over a PS3 stacked over a 360 stacked over an Xbox hueg and never had a problem.

People think everything in internet should be gratis, free, zero. In TPB game torrents have millons of downloads meanwhile Steam consumers are minority.

In other words to attract customers. Which means console excusives have to be above what competition produces, which means good games.

Exclusivity means good games, I know you've been brainwashed by your reddit friends into believing misinformation and lies about consoles but give them a shot, you might be surprised by how much charm and fun there is to be found in the world of console gaming. It isn't even that expensive, you goy out $500 to nvidia every 2 years to play Shower with your Dad simulator in higher resolution but you can't find 200 bucks for a Wii U or a PS4 to play BotW or Nioh.

This.

If the exclusives are mediocre or shit, than no one would buy a console just for it. There is a reason some exclusives are considered "console sellers"
