SP for sure. Micro is close second, but the screen is a bit too small for my tastes. Original GBA is obsolete.

SP, though mine basically doesn't work anymore. If I move it the wrong way or press it down with even a slight amount of pressure, it turns off.

SP had backlighting which puts it really far ahead, but I hated holding the thing. Original GBA with a backlight would win easily.

Original GBA with backlight mod and rechargeable battery back is the best of the three. The SP was not designed for long gaming sessions, i'd get hand cramps from an hour of playing.

Personally preferred the SP. Original GBA was shit with no rechargeable battery and no backlight. Micro was too small, not compatible with classic GB/GBC games, not compatible with the GameCube-GBA connectivity cord.

If we're counting DS that plays GBA games, I personally preferred the phat DS to the DS lite. It was far sturdier.

SP ranks the best overall but if you give the GBA a backlight and replace that fucking awful d-pad it would win. Micro is for hipster faggots.

Later models of the phat are backlit. But, they didn't advertise it like they did when the SP got a backlight.

If you don't mind the small ass screen and inability to play GBC or GB games, then the Micro is definitely for you. It has a super bright backlit screen, swappable faceplates, and is super portable.

Otherwise get the SP. The backlit one. Don't get me wrong, I love the form factor of the original, it's super comfy, but have you ever tried using it? Even in the glare of the sun, you can't distinguish colors much. It became such a problem that all of the Mario and DKC ports had to have washed out color palettes. Ever get one of those little worm lights for your GBA? That's basically the original SP. Just a front light shining on the screen, and colors are still just as indistinguishable as before.
