Don't think it's ever happened to be honest. I've bought games that have hot waifus and shit crammed into them that also have solid gameplay since I can distinguish between the two appeals and recognize that they can overlap, but I've never bought a game just because I wanted to rub one out to scantily clad warrior princess chick #1452452. Like for example games like Senran Kagura and Akiba's Beat hold little appeal to me and to be honest I don't even actually like the whole artstyle for Senran Kagura anyway.

Not really, that shit goes back to the 90s with most of the earliest ones unlocalized if I'm not mistaken, and the series works in individually contained arcs anyways, which is good because there's almost 20 games in this series. A lot of people will say that the Arland arc is a good starting point so Rorona+ (NOT vanilla, Plus is a full-blown remake and vanilla is shit), Totori and Meruru. That said, the subsequent Dusk arc (Ayesha/Escha&Logy/Shallie) is also seen as a fine starting point, while the current Mysterious arc (Sophie/Firis) is supposedly divisive. There's also the Iris arc and Mana Khemia which I personally know little about but are PS2 era JRPGs so fuck it, check em' out if you want. Anything before that is unlocalized I think, though there's also a DS game somewhere in there that got localized, no idea where that one fits in.

It is kind of like a Super Robot Wars tactical RPG with people instead of bots. The Project X Zone games have lots of story, exposition, loads of cameos from various game series, and plenty of combat to go around. The first game is tedious, but the second game is genuinely good.

Yeah not at a full game price though. These games feel like they belong maybe a tier above Simple 2000 tier pricing. Like absolutely no more than $39.99

Plus you can play through the entire think with one hand so it's perfect from a gameplay aspect.
