The DS2 DLCs were pretty fun

Sort've, the levels aren't that great (the playable part of TRC being so small compared to what was shown of the city sucks) but it has some of the best bosses in soulsborne. Gael was the perfect way to end soulsborne desu. Also each DLC added tons of great gear.

Only Gael is any good. And only in terms of moveset. His design is mediocre, his backstory is too brief and simple. Midir is a generic dragon and also a boring damage sponge, spear of the church is just a rehashed bossfight from Demon's Souls, the demons are more generic uninspired garbage. Then we have the frail little girl with the scythe who can turn invisible and the giant wolf guarding a grave with a sword next to it. Several of them abuse the cheap additions and/or multiple health bar mechanic. Yeah... best bosses.

I'm a bit miffed that they both revolve around a weird ass painting/ tiny subplot of DaS1 and conclude without much of a point

the universe is collapsing and suddenly these two characters come to the forefront because they want their kitchen to look nice

Its pretty easy to get past the first 2 stages of Friede and and 1st stage of Demon Prince. Like, you'd have to be lobotomized to find those parts hard, they're just there as a warmup to check your pulse. Friede's third form is great, and even with all of her aggression the devs remembered to still give her shit poise so its viable to combo her in her openings. Pretty great design and its a reason why she's consistently listed as one of the top 3 bosses in soulsborne. Midir is love/hate but it looks like it was intended to be the hardest boss in soulsborne, even if that difficulty is a bit cheap. All the same its moveset is great and we get some godzilla tier shit going on. Best dragon in the series.
Demon Princes are kinda whatever. Halflight is a fun covenant but not sure how long it'll keep going after the nerfs. Gael is king.

I think a neat ending would've been that the player aids Gael's quest to acquire pigment (that being some other thing than The Dark Soul™) and that the gril would paint a new and peaceful place for the game's last surviving NPCs to reside in while the world outside crumbles as the flame finally dies

I seriously think they decided the change the lore for the last DLC in the last minute.Ringed City has a church that resemblances the Sable Church and the sword of avowal symbols are all around the city.It feels like they were actually going to make it Londor at first and let you fight the last sister of the Sable Church where you acquire the blood of the dark soul, but then they decided to pander more to DS1 lore by adding some retarded subplot that involves pygmies and Gwyn for lulz XD to milk the retarded fanbase even more.

That might be true but TRC like the dreg heap is a place where all the timelines and eras collide. Thats why you're running through the catacombs from Dark Souls 1 at some point and the Earthen Peak. The part of TRC we explore just has a lot of Londor shit.

I have nothing againts the Dreg Heap since that place wasnt an asspull and actually made sense according to the main plot of the game.But TRC felt like it was an asspull and heavily modified Londor.

The painter girl and yorshka are most likely Priscilla's daughters considering the item description given by the Parting Flame Pyromancy.

If I remember correctly, the painting girl doesn't actually have a name and neither did yorshka until gwyndolin gave her one.

Well Gwyn creating the dark sign was a result of linking the humanity into the first flame.By doing this he has changed the nature of men and created the undead curse so people would never end his age and start their own since when the flame goes out they become hollow since they are branded by the dark sign.

Before this DLC, this stuff was ambiguous and Gwyn's actions were debatable, which allowed for multiple interpretations of the story/lore.

But nope! Gywn's in the wrong and Kaathe did nothing wrong. Usurpation of fire is the best ending despite almost every Londor related item describing them as being horrible fucking people who shouldn't be given control of the world.

Dark Souls 2 Vendrick and Aldia also say that humans are originally beings of Dark, Vendrick in particular mentions Nashandra and other Daughters of Manus are "confounded quintessence of humanity".

If there were an easier way to just say lolfgts I'm outta here and completely sidestep the primary conflict of the franchise, that just cheapens the stakes immensely.
Thankfully though, even Aldia himself keeps telling you through the entire game that he failed to achieve anything of substance through his research. He's reduced to a bitter tree man spitting black bile at the foundations of the world that he sought a way to correct but which are, by design, flawed and impossible for anyone to circumvent at a viable scale.
