Why couldnt it be topped? Character selection was best, as was music and stage selection

Why couldnt it be topped? Character selection was best, as was music and stage selection.

The only slight were the rampant hackers, but even that is just Nintendos fault and not the game itself.

But its literally the worst Kart outside of the ones with dated control well below the standards of today like Snes, GBA, N64, and the attempt to bring it back with the DS game controlled using a fucking DPAD

CTR is the best kart racing game and it hasn't been topped.

>Best Mario Kart
Literally shiniest turd

Mk8 is better.

Wii and 8 are probably the best in the series overall.

The variety in this is great but the track design is overall mediocre and the bugs let it down. I prefer MK8.
I agree about the roster, but the music was MIDI-tier and the only good original track was coconut mall. The item balance is also completely fucked in Wii, as are the bikes (which are objectively better than karts for no reason).

>Why couldnt it be topped?
It was already topped when it came out.

Controls to sensitive, all karts handle like shit and drifting feels like ass. Used to love double dash before mk wii.

Don't mind me,just posting the best track in the series

But user, Wii is easily the worst 3D game in the series.

>My First Console Was a Gamecube: The Post

This so much. I love both of them.

>mkw
>bikes are much better than karts
>mk8
>bikes are just shittier karts now
How do we fix bikes?

not even the best racing game in its own serise.

DD and 8 is better.

...

Remove them entirely.
>caring about bikes in Mario KART

Is there a single mario kart with worse rubber banding?

I've never noticed any rubber banding in the 10 years I've played it. 64 is the one with the disgusting rubber banding.

Funky on a motorcycle was my bread and butter, man. How could they take that away

I think only the first three in the series have terrible rubberbanding.

you're going to get gold banana Baby DK and you're going to like it

Preferring MKWii to any other Mario Kart is admitting the Wii was your first console.

Mario Kart Wii is the best simply because it's the only one with working physics that you can actually play around with.

youtube.com/watch?v=wx74VM5-vV0

best stages, best gameplay, best everything
the hackers were hilarious and fun to play with because they didn't even try to win, they just tried to knock everyone off. I was able to still win about 30% if the time with hackers. Plus they only showed up at the really high tiers, so they're not a problem for beginners.

I was very sad the day the servers died.

>like any GameCube game
>haha the GameCube was just your first console!
Who the fuck is behind these posts? Need to know so I can visit you and beat the FUCK out of you in front of your mommy.

Same with the TTYD babbies.

Fucking hate that generation.

all karts handle horrendously and slide all over the place
plus the double thing is just a gimick since you can hold two items at once in other games

That's probably the main reason why people love this game so much.

FUNKY FLAME RUNNER

THE LEGEND NEVER DIES

>top tier
DS, 8
>"high" tier
Super, DD
>okay tier
Wii
>low tier
64, 7
>actual fucking shit tier
Super Circuit

>liking Edgy Paper Mario and LOL SO RANDUMB KART

Oh don't worry - I will drag you to the town square and hang you high for everyone to see and know what gets done to people with absolute shit taste.

Yeah, I remember when I was playing with hackers one stayed behind, and one surged on ahead only to turn around and crash through everybody they'd overtaken.

What was so bad about 64?

>top
>DS
>when it has Snaking

>64 that low

Yeah, fuck off.

>not liking the only version that supports mods
>not wanting 200+ courses
lmao what the fuck

>mfw nips tried to push the daisy meta but funky still won
I respect your opinions and all but ranking smk over sc is just bullshit. They're the same game but sc has twice as many tracks if not more.

>edgy Paper Mario

Wait, we're talking about Super?

To be fair, the turning radius wasn't great, and there were some game breaking shortcuts and glitches and shit.

Other than that, though, nothing except for the occasional FALLING BACK 1/8 OF THE TRACK DURING WARIO STADIUM'S RAMP BECAUSE OF SOME BULLSHIT LIGHTNING BOLT, REEEEEEEEEEE

What bugs? I haven't run into any

Super actually has alright controls, SC meanwhile controls like a drunken elephant balancing on a chopstick and no number of courses will make that game good.

OH DON'T EVEN MENTION THAT NAME
The fucking DeviantArt of Mario games.

No, I'm definitely also referring to TTYD.

The knockbacks in 64 you could do were one of the best things about it,with the best thing being Toad Turnpike extra mode

SC is actually just bad, probably the only bad game in the series

>Edgy Paper Mario
>LOL SO RANDUMB KART
?????

That was fun, would be more fun if the AI fucked up as much as the average player.

the knockback you could do to others on Wario Stadium and Choco Mountain was great though.

I don't think 8 managed to keep the charm of 64's tracks though

YOU HEARD ME, FAGGOT

>TTYD
>Edgy Paper Mario

what the fuck are you even talking about

>Not music park
>not coconut mall
>not mushroom gorge
>not superbell subway
Any of those would have been acceptable.

I don't find that fun. You would probably enjoy Monopoly.
Hell, I made my own Monopoly that fixes that shit for that exact reason.

No, it didn't, especially gimping Rainbow Road N64.
However, there wasn't much to fuck up about Royal Raceway, so that was a treat. (Okay, well, they did take out the part where you could drive up to the castle, there's that.)

They usually get rekt enough times in my experience

Toad Turnpike's remake in 8 is the one flaw in the game that I will never not be mad about.they made it way too big which made it lose all of the chaos of the original

>Wii
>Good

7 was better. Wii was dog shit

This.
Also, I'm not a big fan of 64 but I do love how momentum actually matters when using items.
For example, you can make people fly off the track by hitting them during a turn, because their speed will carry them while in the air.
Also 64 has the only good blue shell in the series.

I've ran into issues with the collision-detection, especially in flight sections. I've also had a few crashes before.

>Toad's Turnpike

Casuals bitched about it. My wife can't even avoid the cars very well in 8 (race or battle), complains about it all the time, it's a nuisance. Maybe she needs a kart with better handling, or to Git Gud, I dunno.

>music park
ehh...
>coconut mall
Good taste, it's literally the purest track in mkw.
>mushroom gorge
This one is only good in time trials or 1v1s.
> superbell subway
I like this one
Didn't 64 have blueshells that can get fucked by walls?

Those tracks are good but they certainly aren't even in the best of the best.I'd be more willing to accept something like waluigi pinball or airship fortress

If you think about it, multiplayer would be unbalanced as hell. Never had occasion to play 4 player mode, but there's only one that can reach a distant first place and it's the blue shell equivalent, the lack of red shell equivalent would make it boring.
( There's also the clock thing )

Yes, but really, if you launch a Blue Shell into a fucking wall...

I kinda wish Diddy Kong Racing didn't have items at all, for roughly this same reason.

It's also the one with the highest skill ceiling.

Yes but only if you fired them at the wall.
They work like this:

>fire shell
>if it doesn't hit a wall for about a second it goes to the center of the track and starts travelling at hyper speed towards the guy in first
>anyone close to the center of the track gets targeted and rekt
>finally it hits the guy in first and dissapears

You could also hold it behind you and it would block something like 5 hits before being destroyed.

they really need to start making more GBA retro tracks, starting with these two
youtube.com/watch?v=hxEq6ateYjI
youtube.com/watch?v=K4vYoaUdkiw

Not sure why, but I like 7 the most. Its physics wasn't as messed up as Wii (where you'd go hopping around over almost every little bump, like in Grumble Volcano and Rainbow Road) and Karts had tight turning, the retro track selection was the best, having almost all my favorite courses, and the item balance wasn't as screwed up as 8.
It's a shame the roster and sound design sucked, though. Even returning characters like Mario, Mii and Daisy became way more annoying.

>MUH SKILL CEILING
>in a fucking children's videogame

Go play an actual sport.
And take the FGC / Meleetards with you - they could use some sun.

Exactly, all the 64 tracks were made worse, like cutitng out Peach's castle, or the ?s in Yoshi's Valley, or more space to manouver in TT

Unlike Melee MKW is fun with friends too. It's the best of both worlds. It doesn't hurt to have more advanced techniques in a children game. How are children supposed to improve?

7s Retro Cups were on point

It was just very boring to play. And the new tracks just rubbed me the wrong way, it and Wii both.

You know what it is? The multitude of alternate paths.
Why fucking bother when there's just going to be a fastest one?

i just pirated this shit and its fuckin trash
only MK game i like is SNES

They can go improve at something constructive.

A high skill ceiling does NOTHING to ensure that brand-new players or people who don't otherwise have Nintendo stuff but really enjoy playing have fun.

So, again, take all that garbage out - it has no place in a game that sells well and is traditionally enjoyed in a party setting.
It's just alienating to the masses, and exhausting for the Nintendo-minded host.

am i the only person that prefered crash nitro kart?

*Wii and DS

Fuck off, challenge and improvement is a huge part of what makes games fun.
Your mentality is the exact reason why so many modern games got dumbed-down to shit.

Can someone explain to me why so many people like DS? I really didn't care for it.

The only thing nice about DS is the tracks DESPITE Snaking absolutely ruining some of them (Yoshi Falls comes to mind).

I hate these glider/underwater sections. I hope they give Mario kart the pokemon treatment and remove all the "cool" stuff they added on the last generation so mk9 is returning to full road tracks.

You're not forced to get good.
They will probably keep adding new gimmicks until they run out of ideas.

In a single player setting? Or co-oping an adventure? Yeah, sure, absolutely.

But not in a party setting.
Realize this, or fuck off.

>Melee isn't fun with friends

are "MKW is the best" folk just fucking crazy

really tight controls, good online, really fantastic track list

Why take time trial out?

People who say they like DS were 10-12 years old when it released and played it with friends in school, and since everything is fun with friends, it painted a very positive picture.
t. likes Metroid Prime Hunters for the same reason.

I meant to say it's not as fun casually as other Smash games. Everything is fun with friends. I don't think you'll disagree if I say that Melee has the highest skill floor of all Smash games.

Underwater parts are pretty cool with how they switch up the movement

>Unlike Melee MKW is fun with friends too.

Melee was the favourite game of almost my entire class during high school, fuck off

>You're not forced to get good.

Even worse.
Then you have to introduce bullshit Items that punish the players that are legitimately doing well and create an Item Farming scenario,
Or the new players feel left out and don't want to explore something that's, at that point, a mild amusement to them (ESPECIALLY if their enjoyment turns sour).

All the mechanics they add that effect the core gameplay in Pokemon stick for good, so no clue what you're getting at

Taking the Pokemon route would be like removing Battle Mode

Why? Because you get mad when people beat you?

>still responding
Just ignore him.

Whoa, whoa, who said anything about Time Trial? Especially now that there's online ghosts so that you can see what the best are doing?
Plus, Time Trial is just good for figuring out the track (which isn't so much a thing for multiplayer, but it's very handy for new and younger players AND lets everyone explore so that they can actually find the shortcuts and shit).

No no no, I'm talking about all the ridiculous gameplay mechanics they added beyond the Turn Boost.

I only play Smash casually and me and my friends always liked Melee the most because it felt the tightest to control, fastest, and most chaotic without being outright retarded like Smash 4 with items on

yeah i agree, it was fun with friends when i didnt even own it (how bloody amazing was ds download play).

Because the party-goers don't have the time nor the game to get that good!

Seriously, fuck off, you're not goddamn listening.

DD was still better than MK64, and I say that as someone who grew up on MK64.
MK64 gets shat on by CTR and DKR

>Funky on a motorcycle was my bread and butter, man.

You mean everyone's bread and butter.

mario kart 8 was 50x better than that shit

only thing wii has over it is a better character roster (which really doesn't matter THAT much for a kart racer like this)

Fine. It's just a shame people can't be bothered to actually try. They just have no idea how much fun getting good at a game can be.

From a sheer technical standpoint, perhaps, but the Items, different karts, special Items, awful tracks, all the shit lumped together made for a really weak experience.

>primefags
>TTYD fags
>melee fags
>wind waker fags
>sunshine fags

seriously what the fuck was it with the gamecube and whiny fanbases?

>but the Items, different karts, special Items, awful tracks
I never had a problem with any of these.

So they'll ruin the series. Mario kart wasn't a fast paced game to begin with, and the gimmicks added to it made it worse. Thankfully there's 200cc now, but braking at every turn doesn't help feeling better about the lack of general speed.
