blazblue story was literally only good during CT arcade release, back when ragna and jin were super morally ambiguous and there was barely any details on anything else

When BlazBlue launched Ragna was a canon serial killer and Jin was a yandere maniac
then they "humanized" both of them and THATS what killed the story
every story, instead of answering questions, they wanted to find ways to make it more convoluted
Mori couldn't write anything decent after CS.

Technically yes but there's a direct line where the fayth call him a dream.
blazblue is basically type moon fanfic, right down to a bunch of the "they have the same japanese voice actor so lets just make these characters behave in similar ways" shit japan loves
CT and bits of CS = early stuff like tsukihime and kyokai no kara
rest of series = fate, especially the more recent and convoluted shit

If you want some stories that deal with dreams in an inventive way, you could play the first Klonoa. The ending is considered one of the saddest ever for a reason.
FFX wasn't a dream. Tidus was the fragment of dream that the fayth had. The world itself was real.
Tidus had true suffering:
- your father is the monster that kills everyone
- you're not real
- you can never return to your dream world
- you try to forget about that shit by going on adventures with this hot girl
- then you discover she's willingly sacrificing herself for some religious dogma, and no one told you about it
