Dorrie was never intended to scare children, yet it did. Therefore the artists went back and changed the design voluntarily to better suit the original intent.

What's so scary about that? I found it so much scary that you could see all kinds of glitchy polygons if you looked up at the ceiling of his room for some reason. Later on I realized the room had no ceiling and that the polygons were the various blocks in the entire level that were visible, but still it didn't stop me from imagining there were some weird alternate dimension shit going on there.

Not to mention that the motivation behind the change is just speculation to begin with.

I'd like to know what's so scary about that dinosaur. There's far creepier shit in SM64 than that little blue dinosaur, such as the skybox for wet dry world, the whomp's faces, the eel, those eye enemies, the list goes on and on.

Ya, it did. It obviously didn't scare everyone but it scared enough kids to where it was obvious the original design wasn't working as intended.

Personally, I was a little skiddish around it just because that sign warns you to be careful or you'll get eaten. It's not like I couldn't progress past it out of fear, but I would hurry.

The new moon looks far less spooky as well. MM3D wasn't anywhere near as creepy to me as the original. I think most of it is due to the higher poly models though. I don't really blame the developers for that, still a great game.

Jap games aren't allowed to show titties though. You can have a scantily clad loli sucking on a popsicle with white stains all over her face, but the second actual nudity or gore comes out the game gets censored. You can see this in pretty much any western M-rated game that releases in Japan.
