Stealing in turn-based rpgs is cocksucking bullshit

Stealing in turn-based rpgs is cocksucking bullshit.

These fucks take your shit and run in the middle of battle in Paper Mario.

>Not just attacking every time

Enough for 90% or more of JRPGs

FF8 you have to steal a GF. I believe its more than once too.

the whole 'stealing skill is useless except for getting unique boss gear' shit square pulled back in the day was so retarded

Not mandatory as far as I recall

>steal a GF

tfw you will never steal a gf.

Draw is 100% though. It's not a steal.

>not the Runescape knight image macro

you fucked up

>those fonts
what the fuck
is this the pc version?

>only doing things that are mandatory in games
thats no fun at all and will cut out huge amount of playtime on alot of titles

I can one-up you

>macca beam
>80% of your money is gone with no way to get it back

Go ahead. Steal my flute. I'll wait.

yea

I dont like how clean/crisp they look but sqaure did the same thing to x/x2

Semantics.

Yeah. It's shit compared to emulation. The modding community doesn't really exist either. Cheevos are enough motivation for me to play this version, though.

I replay the game once a year and always steal it
with the pc release it is the only time I used the speed boost

Only if RNG is involved

fuck this thing

You can't contemplate how much this OP has triggered me.

Imagine having run through a section in inch perfect timing, avoiding all battles and collecting all required treasure- it has taken you 3 hours to do this, trying and trying again doing the same fucking thing - only to them be faced with the boss which has a 1 in 5 chance of dropping a weapon you require to get through the next phase and it ends up taking 15 times to steal it. You then have to restart the process again from the beginning because it's taken too long and you've used too many items.

This is the reality of the Excalibur 2 run without using FMV skip or any glitches.

I will never face anything that tests my patience as much as that did. I can guarantee it.

I JUST WANT THE STAFF. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. BANDIT IS A WASTE OF A SLOT.

I managed to get excalibur 2 once back in the mid 2000's using the fmv skip

every time since I cant help myself around lindblum and always get sidetracked into cards treasure hunting and chocobo hot and cold

After an hour I didn't even want the flute anymore. At that point it was a battle of wills between me and the game, and I'll be damned if I was going to let the game win.

doesn't sound worth it desu. I can sympathize with runners, but some categories just shouldn't exist.

I'd always wanted to do it but wanted to avoid any glitches etc. The idea of the challenge having been made but seemingly impossible to be done without cheating just bugged the shit out of me.

I was on PAL too, which makes quite a big difference. Didn't do the ps2 disc speed up trick, no turbo controller or FMV skip.

I know it sounds like I'm boasting but I'm just trying to lay out the gravity of the challenge. It was my most autistic moment in my life. I did every little thing around me in the most efficient way for a number of weeks afterwards - I'm not even shitting either, I was making sandwiches for myself in about 20 seconds and filling my car up in the fastest manner possible, without even meaning to.

It felt like it broke my brain and completely rewired me.

It is beyond the most severe mental pressure I had ever put myself through.

The moment that it happened, which by the way was with less than 30 seconds on the clock spare, was absolute sheer elation. I honestly cried.

Arguably not worth it but that feeling of satisfaction was beyond belief at the time.

>30 minutes later

I hate that I can just buy it soon, but I'm not going to let RNG win.

The mechanics are kinda shit for stealing in FFIX though. The steal chance is always the same as you go from the common item to the rare ones, with the chance being 1/128 for the rarest one (1/64 with the ability that increases your chance)

It has a fucking dick

>it is a fucking dick

>1/64 for buyables

That's gay as hell.

>Replaying FF9
>Made it my goal to steal every sword Beatrix had
>Remember it being impossible to steal the Mythril Sword
>Battle starts
>OH BOY HE WE GO...
>Stole it on the first try
>mfw

>Stealing is absolute bullshit in ff9
>Get the fucking master thief skill
>Multiplies chance by 32 to make it acceptable

Those Square fuckers could've just quadrupled it and made master thief multiply it by 8. But I guess that would've been a non-dick thing to do.

If you raise your SPR stat (which turns out to be like the most important stat in the game), it actually does become a waste.
