Post your specs: pcpartpicker.com
PC THREAD
Just post a Speccy sheet you dumbass.
...
Okay now what? What do I get out of posting my specs?
jesus this took a while and im still omitting some stuff. pcpartpicker.com
why the MB+RAM? You can get a better MB that supports DDR4 RAM with 2x 8GB RAM for the same price if not less.
laughed at for shitty RAM and a meme GPU
Nice hunk of hardware user. What monitor do you use?
8GB of RAM is perfectly fine, not sure what you're on about.
r8
In addition, get a fucking SSD
He's the one who fell for the memes. Watch benchmarking videos of 8gb of RAM vs 16gb
Absolutely useless 98% of the time
Also clocked the monitor to 71Hz.
I'll get to the CPU when I can be fucked.
As expected of a frogposter. Even if it was your clock speed and timings are from 1983
r8
wow
I think we're done here. Sup Forums can't into PCs
I use this to play overwatch
I need to upgrade soon.
I said it was fine, not that it was good.
If you're going to be an ass about it you might as well shove the two extra sticks up there.
jealous of your ssd's/10
Thanks. I get them as I need them but unfortunately I play less vidya nowadays so I haven't needed a new one recently. HDD is for animu and music
You're going to be disappointed with the 1050.
They shouldn't be marked as a 10XX card.
the fuck
When I first bought it it had 16 gigs of RAM, but one of the RAM sticks wasn't functional and I wanted to use my PC immediately rather than wait to return and get a new set of RAM sticks.
8GB is still functional. And a 970 isn't terrible, 3.5 aside
How bad is it? I just want to decently run most stuff or max out new vegas
did you forget to delid your chipset?
Not massively knowledgeable about PC's but I built this last year.
I should really play more games on it 2bh, I've been playing more as of late though.
R8 I guess.
One of the few time's I'd recommend not getting a card, and look for the best integrated graphics you can get.
Click the link, they'll help you out.
Seriously? There's no way a dedicated card, even that small, can be worse than integrated. Right?
8 years old and counting.
>They shouldn't be marked as a 10XX card.
I mean, it's Pascal. There's really no arguing that. What it shouldn't be is a GTX. What ever happened to GTS and GT?
Currently saving up for a 1050ti and maybe i5 ivy Bridge.
Still pretty solid with the exception of the occasional poorly optimized game. By the end of the year I'm hoping I'll be able to buy a 4k capable card.
YOU THINK YOU PEOPLE HAVE TOASTERS HOW'S THIS FOR A CHANGE:
AMD Sempron 145 2.81 ghz
992 RAM
Windows XP SP3
nVidia Geforce 7025/nForce 630a
Can you rate my build please?
uk.pcpartpicker.com
I'm not looking to play any modern AAA games at Ultra 4k or anything like that. Mostly just older games emulated and last-gen names like Fallout 3/NV modded to shit.
It gets close. Enough that not getting one and jumping to i5/7 to use integrated while you save cash to buy a proper card is a better option.
(copied from the /pcbg/ thread)
Currently worthwhile CPUs:
>G4560 for budget builds (i3 & i5 aren't worthwhile. Get Ryzen 5, drop down to G4560, or up to i7
>No R5 1400 unless discounted
>i7-7700k is good but pricey. If over budget: consider locked 7700; not chasing 4.8Ghz+ capable when you weren't gonna overclock, or get R5
>Cheap Z270 board is still good for faster memory in games w/ locked 7700, but aren't for overclocking (VRMs suck)
>R7/Xeon for compute/multitask/mixed use
Currently worthwhile GFX cards:
>RX470 , RX480, 1070, 1080, 1080TI
>1060 is worth considering over a 480 if same/cheaper in your country, or you just play games it's better on for the price. 1050Ti is for mITX builds
>470 is all you need for 1080p
>Wait for RX 580 in a few days
>Nvidia GPU + Ryzen has issues in DX12/Vulkan atm
>Budget builds: consider integrated graphics over a card weaker than RX470, unless price/performance is better (discounted/used)
>Vega comes in May
Yeah. I few friends of mine came to me with their builds expecting it to be good. Purely because of its markings.
One was going from a 950/970 current, to a 1050Ti.
Feel bad for bursting his bubble on that.
rate
First build and still pretty new to all this, what should I be looking at next when I have the money to upgrade?
Pretty good mid-tier build. I'd go with 16 gb RAM for a little bit of future proofing, but gaming with 8 gb is perfectly viable. You can play current gen games at 1080p and high quality settings with that.
As for the prices, I can't really tell if you can get a better deal.
You can be popular by screaming 'PCMASTERRACE' and 'DIECONSOLEPEASANT' on social media.
...
still need to replace the hdd
GPU, of course. But only if you wanna game in 4k, the 1060 is excellent for 1080p high settings and will remain so for quite a few years.
AMD R5 1600 CPU
Two more cores, 8 more threads, overclockable without needing to buy an expensive K CPU and Z mobo, and much better upgrade path. Socket 1151 has maybe 1 generation of CPU left on it. Maybe. Cannonlake is looking iffy at the moment. AMD will be using AM4 for several generations to come.
SSD for OS and gaems
going to be building my first pc pcpartpicker.com
here, I completely ignored the lack of an SSD in your build. Definitely go for that as soon as possible at least for the OS, the difference is absolutely amazing.
I hope the 1060 6gb won't bottleneck
Get the 6 core for the love of god.
And a SSD. 500gb+.. Don't need Samsung. Most are high speed.
6 core will get you another few years of usability, and better resale.
>AMD
No. AMD is king this year. You're behind the times.
t. Intel's extra special good goy
i forgot to mention i already have an ssd. also i dont plan on overclocking so im not too sure if i should go for a 1600
...
I personally think you should always build to overclock so that a few years down the road you can squeeze one last year out of the hardware before it's completly obsolete.
>He doesn't know
Any recommendations for my build? I've never really understood the whole SSD thing and I'm not really sure what I'm looking for aside from at least a TB of storage
you guys fell for the b8
What do you guys think of this? My Budget is around 1400-1700
Generally get the "X" variant if you're not overclocking.
It gives a minor overclock by design.
The 1600 is still good. The two extra cores allows you to do so much more. Such as keeping browsers and other shit open in the background and not interfering with you games.
Games won't be limited to 4cores much longer.
Even the FX 8XXX series are 'gaining' performance over their counterparts, solely because they have more cores.
I see the AMD shills are out in full force
...
just get a samsung evo 850. The 250 GB ones are like sub $100
>tfw selling my budget build and getting into consoles
let this be a lesson kiddos, never go entry level and make sure you have an upgrade path
SSD is easily 3x as fast as an HDD. In real world applications that means faster boot times and faster loadtimes, as well as better write speeds. Only "fast media" benefits though, like vidya or windows startup. Slower stuff like movies and music sees no real benefit. TB only refers to the size or volume of the drive. Having a 1TB drive means you can store ~1000GB of porn.
From fastest to slowest
PCIe NvMe SSD/M.2 > SSD > HDD
There is a NAND shortage so SSD prices are super expensive rn.
I absolutely hate ricer, tacky leds, but that's personal preference.
Consider getting the i7 7700k. Newer, slightly better performance, slightly higher overclock ceiling and it's just about $20 more
HELP ME BUILD A PC FUCK
budget?
Sup Forums has a thread dedicated to helping people build PC's.
>FX is shit
Well that's not news. We're not talking about FX though.
1500 I hope.
This anons looks nice
this. PC elitists will tout how "innexpensive PC gaming is" and "omg console killer" but in reality they're just low end builds that have no upgrade path without a massive overhaul. Unless you get a "mid-level" build (minimum) you're just going to be throwing good money after bad.
>believing the nand shortage meme
good goy. remember to always buy Genuine SamSung memory chips :^)
Pretentious fuck. Remember your manners and give more information. Currency and budget. and this
>TFW fell for the Ryzen meme
Need to get a second hard drive at some point, pretty happy with the thing so far though.
Is there going to be a new card coming out this year?
Thanks anons. Probably won't be upgrading for a bit but at least I know what I'm looking for now.
Gotcha, beyond that should I change anything else? I want to try and stay between the $1500-1800 area.
factor in the delidding tool and it's $40-70 more :^)
>good goy. remember to always buy Genuine SamSung memory chips :^)
>tfw bought a 960GB Sandisk Ultra II for $160 in 2015
>now it's like $260
>tfw 1 TB 850 EVO is like $355
I'm gonna build gaming PC which I expect to last for few years. What should I choose, 7700 non k or Ryzen 1600(x)?
Console fag here. USA.
Let's say I have a budget around $1000 - $1500. Don't want to fall for the VR Meme either. Just something that will help me play games on max settings.
I really love this case too, anything I can build around this?
Ryzen. The AM4 platform is expected to stick around for a while meaning you have a cheaper upgrade path.
Getting a non-k intel would be crazy, you could get way better performance from overclocking the 1600 even slightly.
That's the most generic build from 2014/2015 Sup Forums
Pretty good case, I built in it's cousin the H440.
As long as you get a standard ATX motherboard (atx is the size) and don't get a xbox heug GPU you can stick just about anything in there.
For about 1000 burgerbux you could get something like this pcpartpicker.com
I don't really care about upgrade that much. I want my build to do at least high setting at 1080@60 for 4-5 years without upgrading anything.
There isn't any comparisons with 7700 but stock 7700K performs better than Ryzen so I'm not really sure about that.
I'm still gonna wait for Vega though and then decide if I should go full AMD.
...
>suggesting amd to anyone
>ever
Dont do what this user says
My Frakenstein PC; never built one before and have been upgrading it over the years.
No, you can't really do much better. The only part you could improve is the gpu, but the 1080ti is out of budget.
That processor is nice though
i5 6600
GTX 1060 6 GB (Gigabyte)
16 GB RAM DDR4
24" Full HD 60 Hz IPS LG display
SteelSeries Rival 300 mouse
Plain Microsoft black keyboard
>1080@60 for 4-5 years
ryzen then. Keep in mind that 1080@60 is heavily reliant on your GPU and not so much your CPU. Having the extra cores from ryzen will help keep the longevity of the system though.
>7700K performs better than Ryzen
at the expense of sounding like a complete shill you should keep in mind that Ryzen is a brand new platform and nothing is perfectly optimised yet.
>d-delid this
keke
>his company can't even get the TIM correct
>>suggesting amd to anyone
>>ever
You're in for a world of hurt when Zen+ comes out.
15%+IPC increase and another goodie left out of Ryzen.
fuck this was good b8
90+% of all games don't support AMD
wew lad
...
>fell for skymeme
you should of waited for risen
I built this PC over a year ago and didn't want to go a year without a PC to wait for Zen.
I've been happy with my processor.
