Artificial demand

Nintendo wants to disgrace their ancestors.

because they can't sell games for it
it was just bait for nostalgia autists to make them feel Nintendo cares about those worthless autists

Or you know, they could keep making it and earn millions of dollars more for little effort.

To create artificial demand for when they release the !!!NEW!!! SNES CLASSIC EDITION!!! and inevitably underproduce that one as well, to create more artificial demand.

Nintendo is a dying company resorting to gimmicks consoles and gimmicks marketing techniques to seem like they're still relevant in 2017. All they did was create a bunch of people who decided to spend $0 emulating their games instead of taking advantage of the fact that some of those same people might be lazy or stupid enough to drop $60 on the classic edition.

Its Nintendo.
They do everything in a bubble.

They are mostly pissed it sold so well while they thought it wouldn't. So since they are brain dead retarded japs they discontinue it because they were proved wrong. More surprising is that there's no China knockoff .

Japan is too fucking retarded to keep making something that prints money

Because it was a novelty collector's item to keep brand awareness high over the holidays. Pokemon Go was such an amazing success that the 3DS had a very unexpected resurgence this holidays, if they had known that beforehand the NES Classic wouldn't even exist.

They want you to buy a switch obviously

Because it only existed to boost what would be otherwise low holiday sales figures as they had nothing major to push. It was never intended to be a long term product. They scheduled enough production time to produce what they thought was enough for the holidays and some for the next few months based on sales figures for similar devices and were then blown away by the response. Instead of devoting production capacity to making more Nes Classics they made the call to focus on the Switch for now. Expect it to come back next Holiday Season.

;^)

SNES when?

I think it's a way to create hype. They limit the production on their consoles, amiibo's etc because people will get hyped and demand will be high, and it will sell out quickly. Then they expect this hype and demand will bleed over to their other products.

They got rid of all the extra Wii nunchuck cords they had laying around. That was the whole reason they made this thing in the first place, to clear out that inventory. That's the only reason why the cord on the controller is so fucking short.

because it was blown open by meanie hackers

It had a small profit margin
It would cannibalise eshop sales
They need to use their resources to manufacture Switch units

oy vey

But you don't create hype and then discontinue the product you were hyping. That doesn't make any sense.

Who says it's little effort? They need to churn out Switches now. It's going to carry their brand for the next four or five years, possibly longer given that they've combined their handheld/console market. Don't let your little peabrain overheat on this one, junior.

Adidas does this with their shoes
I still want a pair of NMDs and Ultra Boosts that they don't sell anymore

read the last sentence retard
you can assemble this 100x faster than a Switch you stupid retard

They stopped the production?

They needed to satisfy their stockholders during a Christmas season where they were still fumbling with getting the Switch finalized.

It was just to remind everybody what their brand is, and just how desirable they are, while making money hand over fist before pivoting to their new thing. How is this not easy for you to understand?

>this is what nintenbros believe

Yeah, but why would you? Try to overclock your brain here, dingus.

20% of your manufacturing goes into a single product (A) with a single price point.
80% of your manufacturing goes into a multi-faceted product (B) and all of the additional sales associated with new games, figures, features, etc.

(A) will make $100m within three years
(B) will make $3b within three years

Do you continue with (A), or throw yourself fully into (B)'s production?

All of your impotent rage won't change this, you silly autist.

I think he's just mad because he didn't get one.

Does the Disney Vault even exist anymore?
I'm pretty sure you can head to any Wal-Mart and find literally 80% of their animation library in the DVD section.

It does, there's frequently a few major titles that aren't available from anything but resellers.

There's so many available now just because they've done so many blu-ray rerelease packs for movies that used to be in the vault.

Because
1. they can sell you nes classics on the virtual console soon
2. they need every capacity to help produce switches right now

No idea but it pleases me; now I can resell the ones I managed to buy as expensive as I want.

>a nostalgia product that has a fairly low profit potential, as you can't sell software for it

not worth making these when you can focus on the switch and have people buy the nostalgia games as software downloads to the switch and make way more money

Nintendo at least in America treated it like some kind of collectible in terms of supply even though they priced it like a cheap holiday console due to corporate.

You have to wonder how many of the systems on Ebay for $180+ were systems scooped up by NOA executives, and if that had anything to do with NOJ killing it.

>"I don't care about Nintendo so they're an irrelevant, dying company"

Whatever I know I would be ignored but I will try to explain without shitposting

1.Profit margins are relatively low. They would make more by nickel and diming those games on VC. Plus, it's a one-time buy products, meaning no additional money after the initial $60, at all

2. which leads us to the point - it takes up shelf space, which could be used for higher profit margin items like the switch for example

3. it's supposed to be a one-off novelty item. Nintendo didn't want this to compete for shelf space with the more profitable switch as it has served its purpose by letting normies recognize the "Nintendo" name again

I don't know, but I have my Wall-e Blu-ray, and I'm never parting with it.

Someone probably had a surplus of old components they wanted to flog off.

NES classic was never a "product" but more of a marketing plot too keep the Nintendo name in the minds of people when they had literally nothing else during Christmas.

They want to fix the hacking exploit, but want to focus on the switch more.
Once Switch is settled down they will bring it back. Even Nintendo if Japan stated they were just halting production of the Famicon version. NoA just had a poor choice of words.

They don't care about selling this, it was only done so they could protect their IPs by showing that they were still in use.

Because people hacked the shit out of it and everyone was using it to pirate games.

Literally retarded and too stubborn to change.

They wrote the fucking book on this sort of thing.

Nintendo is becoming stupid, senile, and gimmicky.

Shit we could save time by discussing what things Nintendo has ever done right.

>They want to fix the hacking exploit

And scalpers creamed so hard they died.

>brainless autistic nintenbaby detected

I would have bought a classic edition for my little brother because he wanted one for his birthday. He didn't know there were better options out there, he just wanted to play the classic.

Since Nintendo was too busy trying to peddle their shitty gimmicks by not producing enough stock to generate hype, I wasn't able to get him one.

Since I wasn't able to spend my money with Nintendo, I spent it on a raspberry pi and emulated all of Nintendos NES, SNES, Gameboy games and more, and Nintendo didn't see a single dime of my money.

So yeah, they're a dying antiquated company because they alienated possible customers and lost out on money they could have made from me, and they're irrelevant because every good game they ever made that's even worth playing can be emulated for free.

It was such a pathetic excuse for a product. Literally a wired controller in the year 2017. Laughing my fucking arse off. They could have made a really slick thing with a Bluetooth nes controllet. Lazy lazy

>announce they're discontinuing the Wii U and NES Classic at the same time they're doubling production for the Switch
Gee I wonder. Could it be that the Switch is more profitable and in high demand so it makes more sense to produce that on every line they have? No it must be because Nintendo hates us

It's just another marketing ploy, m8.

Why make a wireless/Bluetooth controller when you can make the stock controller have a 3 foot cord with a plug that ONLY fits this one platform, then make another $8-$10 on the cord extenders?

It's simple marketing, and Nintendo doesn't give a shit how insulting it is to their consumer base.

>More surprising is that there's no China knockoff .

It's called a Famiclone. Many of them have more games built into them and can actually play cartridges.

>Make SNES and N64 Minis
>Add eShop to buy more games at retarded VC prices
Suddenly they're printing money again.

1.) they want people to buy those titles on the eStore
2.) It was to just make them relevant leading up to the switch
3.) Nintendo does what they want to do, so fuck you.

Because they didn't want to steal sales from the Switch's virtual console

And add even more input lag on top of the emulation's? No thanks.

>Nintendo logic
>We'll make more money by severely limiting our product and alienating potential customers!

>3.) Nintendo does what they want to do, so fuck you.
Yes, yes. Keep on slurping up Nintendo's cum. On your knees

ITS BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT WOULD OUTSELL THE SWITCH, YOU FUCKING RETARDS
>this system was about the nostalgia, not the brand

It was too popular. They want to be able to sell those games I switch and for more than $2

The discontinuation actually made me happy, it's good evidence vc will be announced and hopefully ready at e3

/thread

It cuts production costs and increases demand to be fair.
But also creates a grey market of flippers too.

Who the fuck knows what goes through the minds of those crazy old japs
will you still love them when all the deadwood has rotted away?

Increased demand doesn't mean anything if you don't the supply to back it up.

And yes, Nintendo loves scalpers.

That's bullshit but I believe it

Nintendo doing something consumer-friendly?

Can't have that.

This. The day Shitendo goes bankrupt will be a day of much celebration for Sup Forums, and a day where we get to enjoy Nintendodo butthurt for years to come. What's better is that their breath is basically inevitable at this point.

> We're sorry it was too successful so we had to kill it.

Their good will is hanging by a thread that's about to be cut the minute they fail to announce the mini snes in a month. Hipster revolt.

It was a ruse, all the NES classic edition was meant to do was prepare the marketing and hype for the switch with a easily recognizable name
Now that the switch is out, they don't need it anymore and they don't want potential switch cosume- I mean customers buying the VCs for cheaper.

> Bait & Switch meme was real all along.

To be honest we cannot tell. it could be for reasons like the manufacturers wanted a better deal from Nintendo when it came time to renew production contracts, on top of the other reasons people have mentioned

Or that Disney Vault shit where they will re-release the nes classic "now with extended controller cable!" in a couple of years for $60 again.

I saw one at this random store yesterday. Are they even worth getting for reselling?

I don't understand how you can discontinue a limited run product anyway. Seems to me like it was discontinued before it was launched.

I'm glad they didn't. Else I would have bought one. And not for collectors purposes.

Basically I realized I can just hook my computer up to my TV and play any emulator with any game for free. I just won't get those official controllers.

Eh just get it and hold on to it. You can open it up and decide to sell it as new later since they never taped them up or shrinkwrapped them.

>Nintendo is a dying company
People have been saying that for over 100 years. When they saw that trading cards was a limited growth they moved onto taxis. When labor unions started fucking over taxis they moved onto love hotels. When that didn't work out they kept on trying things until they finally moved onto toys. Nintendo may begin to fail one day, but they do have a lot of things to fall back on.

I used to think they could burn pokemon money for a decade if they had to but with every iteration they dilute their IP's more and more and I just don't see that now.

Pokemon is doing better than ever, Zelda is top tier again, Fire Emblem has hit mainstream, Splatoon conquered Japan out of nowhere. Nintendo franchises are doing absolutely fine.

Not trying to turn this into a nintendoom thread I just don't think the trump card of home console pokemon can fix the mismanagement if they keep at it.

They don't want it to steal thunder from the Switch.

They may have also been burning a finite supply of parts they got at a better rate or needed to use up, and now that they're out they don't want to bother ordering more.

You seriously underestimate how good Nintendo is at making money. They are not even remotely in trouble, and have never been. Even during the PS2 era they were more profitable than the Playstation division.

Imagine how they'd do if they weren't their own worst enemy. Regardless of how well they do though their story will always be about their fall from grace and how their own hubris gave away the keys to the kingdom.

A) The majority of the demand disappeared with the initial nostalgia hit to the mass public, and,
B) They're probably about to announce their Virtual Console plans at E3.

Why would they keep an expensive factory running to make these systems that'll only take away sales from the Switch?

It's like you people have no concept of how running a business works

What Switch sales?

I think the vault only applies to Walt Disney films, it doesn't include subsidiaries like Marvel or Pixar.

stop gap

> More surprising is that there's no China knockoff .
Nigger those have existed for 30 years now. I can go to any shop here and buy one for 5 bucks + a cartridge with 200 games.

People figured out how to squeeze even more games onto the damn thing. Can't have that!

Because they realized that they can't compete with vastly superior product
youtube.com/watch?v=oJspHcHTxco

>high demand
no one cares about old shit games.

>emulated

I havent opened mine yet.

Should I?

Try to get The Little Mermaid

just like the NES classic.

Building demand for their next hot item, normalfags are Nintendo's main audience and they will fall for marketing tactics like Nintendo is using. They will either release an SNES classic or release another NES classic with more games now that they have built up demand. It sounds retarded on paper but just watch it will go in their favor in the long run.

>company keeps churning out profit year after year after year
>N-n-Nintendo is irrelevant
>T-t-they're dying I swear

every time
