Have you ever been swindled into buying a collectors edition?

Last one I bought was I think Far Cry 2.
They're a total waste of money - usually poorly painted mass-produced statueshit and fucking artbooks. If I want something physical I'll just buy a figma or whatever seperately.

I usually do when buying a physical version and often it is equally disappointing.

I hate it when the trend is to put some overpriced piece of shit toy into the CE instead of a decent artbook and shit like that.

Bloodborne Nightmare edition was pretty neat. That steel book box thing is something I can have at display because it doesn't scream LOL IM SUCH A NERD VIDEO GAMES and actually looks quite decent in shelf.

I bought Alone in the Dark CE. That was in 2008(?)ish when it first released obviously. I've never played the game. It had a game breaking bug which I never got around. Maybe there was a fix. Maybe it just needed a reinstall. At the time I didn't do that and waited for a patch. In the end I never played it. The first 5 minutes I did play though were fucking shocking. Felt cheap and nasty anyway.

Incredible OST though.

Anyway, that's the last time I bought a Collector's Edition. It wasn't long after that I bought Homefront. Then I get some responsibility, and haven't bought a game I really hated since then. Not new anyway. I've bought some really bad sequels, but I haven't for a while now.

These days I have actual responsibilites so spend my money where it's worth it. I haven't bought a game I really didn't like now since Arkham Knight or The Witcher 3. Whichever was most recent. Both were on sale though, so not a massive loss. Partly why I play on console now too, I can simply move it on if it turns out to be a turd.

Im still mad that japan got the full size arm

Last CE I got was WOW Legion.
I mostly buy them for artbooks but I will never buy something like this again.
Total waste of money.

For something to be worth collecting, it ought to have some inherent value to begin with.

last thing i bought was yakuza 0 business edition, i dont know if it can be categorized as collector edition.
it was okay but i think it will be perfect if the graphic on the card holder is engraved instead of printed directly to it

I came so close to buying the collectors edition of dark souls 2 with the shitty estus flask bottle (i didn't know how bad it was at the time).

when I found out that version didn't even include the fucking game, I knew it was a scam and got the collectors edition with the figurine instead.

Kiwami is coming with a steel book and is priced at $30, so I'm pretty excited.

I guess that's a nice trinket. Not something I'd ever use though. Trouble with physical games these days is I'd rather not change disk.

The perfect collector's edition for me is steel case + artbook/soundtrack and some exclusive ingame item.

Anything else is just embarassing trash.

Yeah, bought the assassin's Creed 3 limited edition. Total waste of money but I still have the figure that it came with which is actually pretty cool.

I got Persona 5 and Tales of Berseria this year.
Berseria's was overpriced

i have the tekken 7 collectors edition preordered the chance of that dissappointing me are rather low
oh and i always go for Steelbook if they are available.
