Hit in the nuts maybe
I think they are trying to make their own "overwatch".
I think there's a 50/50 shot that it either does well or gets eclipsed by Splatoon 2 and no casuals latch on to it, and no elitists latch onto it because they hate the combat or something.
They accomplished that a year before Overwatch even came out with Splatoon.
No. Amputee doesn't have as much broad appeal as loli, even if it is hot as hell.
i think it will. it looks very promising. i know im getting it day 1
Ew, no.
Inb4 Min Min shitposting
If each character has a story mode
>that nipple
the next "there's nothing else to play" hit like Splatoon
I actually do think so, it's gotten increasingly more attention and people are getting excited over it.
i dont understand this argument. these games arent even in the same genre. its trying to be like overwatch by having unique characters with unique abilities?
>shitposting
Game is shaping up to be pretty interesting. Thank god they didn't make it require motion controls because fuck that.
>how to make people fervently search an image: the post
It's a game with characters from different parts of the world that you can play as
Overwatch invented that
kek
>Naruto fighter
>Motion controls
>ugly designs
Yeah it's gonna bomb, only waifufags are interested.
I doubt it will be as big as Splatoon but it should do pretty well. How much they support it after launch will decide
>that exposed slit that snuck by the miiverse censor
>Overwatch
thats a weird way of spelling street fighter there, user
also that is basically saying >its a game where you drive different types of cars so its a copy of need for speed/forza/mario kart/whatever you want really
Depending on the content and netcode quality I might be inclined to buy it because the concept seems cool.
However ideally if they're charging $60 for this game there has to be a sizeable story mode for each character along with minimum 10 unique characters and 12 stages. If they can do that I'll buy it day 1.
It depends on how easy to get in but the skill ceiling this is 1v1 not like splatoon. Just on that alone will hurt its sales then you have shit like online with lag and all that and balance.
You have a similar themed multiplayer focused IP that had a chance on the previous console and ironed out most of its flaws. It can sadly be overshadowed unless it finds its install base or is so fucking solid that it will make its own and share from the other nintendo fighters and similar multiplayer focused games.
Enjoy your dicks and crows
ARMS is to Splatoon as the WiiU is to the Wii.
Clearly it worked the first time so lets just do it again but slightly differently.
It won't end up being a second "Everyone on this console has this fucking game" deal, and Nintendo won't make another large scale new IP for a decade.
>Comparing the success of overwatch to splatoon which is shovelware tier
>street fighter
>"Spring"
>mid-June
Fuck you, Nintendo.
>I don't like this game so it's shovelware
Every single time
That's the joke.jpg
I still search through it every time
Splatoon is better than Overwatch in pretty much everything but waifus.
>inb4 but muh loli squid
No, I am not a pedo.
i completely agree. it looks like there are going to be more characters that have not been announced indicated by this image. i think it probably will have a story mode because that japanese site people found gave each character a sizable amount of backstory for each character, so nintendo has come up with something, we'll just see if they put it to use or not
>and Nintendo won't make another large scale new IP for a decade.
That's a shame if this comes to pass. Even if someone here doesn't plan to get it which is understandable as it's not for everyone, people should hope it succeeds in general so they're encouraged even more to make more new IPs internally.
It does have 2v2 as well. I will probably be picking it up but thats because I have someone here I can play with locally. Hopefully they have a demo or something to get a real feel for the game. Seems it could be pretty hit or miss.
>Mechanica
>Doesn’t possess the stretchy “ARMS Ability”* herself, so she fights in her self-made powered suit!
So its an ability to make your arms stretch like that
No, it's shovelware because it's a rushed game with no content or features made to pad out the wiiu library
They've been shilling it pretty hard at Smash tournaments, hoping to create a competitive scene. I think it will be fairly successful, I'm just worried it won't be interesting to watch, and therefore not twitch friendly.
Arms would be popular if they called it Punch-Out 20XX.
Nintendo usually loves to take new games and make them part of a old IP.
i agree. i hope there are more modes than 1v1 and 2v2. why not a 4 player free for all? why not 3v3? i mean as long as you have enough controllers, why not? and i think there will be a demo like splatoon 2's global testfire personally but idk

Everyone is going to forget about it by the time Splatoon 2 comes out. Nintendo fucked up by releasing it before Splatoon, not after.
It really depends on the controls and atmosphere.
If there controls and atmosphere are both good: it will be a big hit
If the characters are good but the motion controls suck: Niche hit at best
If the motion controls are fine but the game lacks any charm: It will probably have a cult competitive scene but not much else.
If both are terrible: this game is going nowhere
people on Sup Forums are split. some people say they're robots, others say they are mutants, and even more who say who gives a shit. im a part of the mutant group
I know but you can tell that was just added in the game seems like it would be balanced around single player especially since you can angle you punches which would not make much sense in the 2v2 part of the game. I'm already locked in for splatoon 2 but I'm a little worried on this game I hated nintendo's every attempt at a fighter save for smash bros and even then I don't play that game anymore. If they are afraid to make the game easy to get into but deep then I'll pass.
60$ is 10 hours work at minimum wage. If you are telling me you aren't willing to work 1 fucking day for a game, I don't know what else you are doing with your life.
10+ characters confirmed and possibly dozens of stages and a shitload of strategies to mix with, plus 4 player mode
Why not, because it's a fighter or are you just assuming it's 5 characters with 3 stages like some retard?
>top right
KEVIN?
Tier list so far from the many MANY vidd i watched and little i got to play.
S tier- ninjara
Seriously busted the teleports give him frame advantages at every point. Hard to pin down.
A tier
Ribbon girl
Spring man
Ribbon has some strong ass mix ups with multiple jumps and fast falls. And spring mans counter and come back mechanic are devistating.
B tier mechanica
Not bad mobile and hard approach when in the air.
Master mummy tier
He just suffers from all the classic big guy issues.
I'm not going to spend 60 dollars for a couple of characters and VS mode only and with no single player collectables when I can buy a game like Persona 5 for 100+ hours of content.
only 6 hours of work for me
It's a 3D fighting game.
It's probably going to be successful, but not a massive hit. Basically another Pokken.
how do you know there won't be single player collectibles?
>Nintendo usually loves to take new games and make them part of a old IP.
After all the complaints of experimentation lately, it's probably best to save the new ideas for new IPs.
Did you not see the direct where at least 10 characters were confirmed and single player modes to collect more arms?
The fact they've been so mum on everything but the stupid fighting gimmick? There doesn't seem to be anything else to ARMS but playing with other people online or locally. It's a barebone fighting game.
desu, the game concept doesn't really have legs
Only complaint about the game are the lack of level obstacles/traps. There needs to be more going on in the levels.
i did see it. i don't know how that proves there are no single player collectibles. how do you define "collectibles" in any case, because more arms sounds like collectibles to me
This is gonna be the new "smash isnt a fighting game" meme
No, it's laughable garbage.
Exactly, if you have a decent job its literally less than half a days work.
Why are you trying to compare Apples to Oranges here? Both are (hopefully) good games. Persona is a game you play through once for 100 hours and are done with it. Arms is something you play for an hour or so every time you pick it up. Plus if you aren't willing to buy a game you aren't going to have fun with (especially a game with good couch multiplayer) why even consider buying it at all.
u smart in smash its a valid complaint but in a 3d arena style fighter I need some pillars and shit youtube.com
>there doesn't seem to anything to this game except for the game
yea dude. arms is gonna bomb. they're introducing a game where you use giant extendo-arms to hit each other. they kind of have to focus on that to prove to the consumer that it will be fun, it is not a barebone fighting game its one where you use motion controllers to launch extendo-arms at your opponent. that needs a lot of explaining
What kind of collectables would you even want in a fighter? Something like smash?
looks like one of those obscure games on gamecube like billy hatcher or that little robo fighting game
i'm and not
Collectables like in Smash. ARMS doesn't seem to have anything besides a couple of stages or arms to unlock. That can't take more than 10 hours. After that, you just spend the rest of it playing against people by waving your arm like a retard. It's going to be a blunder like Pokken.
>and Nintendo won't make another large scale new IP for a decade.
This isn't a large scale IP though. None of Nintendo's games except for Zelda are large scale.
and *
I don't think he literally meant in size, but most likely in popularity.
Pikmin didn't need to pander to sell
please tell me you aren't a gibbon girl fan
No I mean like any new IPs for the next 10 years will be tiny eshop games like Pushmo and Box Boy
They won't try another retail new IP if ARMS doesn't recreate Splatoons craze (It wont)
>splatoon craze
lol what craze? It's a game that sold well. That's it. ARMS is gonna sell 2-4 million easy. You're talking like it needs to be the new pokemon to be a success
I'm more in for Arms than splatoon. I played the first one on Wii U in the testfires and rented once but it didn't do it so much for me. Arms to me honestly looks like the next smash, I could see myself putting hundreds of hours into it if it's as deep as I think it is
This. I guarantee arms will sell well. Probably won't beat splatoon because it's a new IP but it'll definitely get a sequel
>they won't try another retail new IP if ARMS sells good instead of exploding
Yeah Nintendo sure is going to be upset about those 2 million+ sales
>or that little robo fighting game
Thanks for reminding me that we're never getting a new Custom Robo game
>(It wont)
I have a feeling that it wont be as big as splatoon but have hope more new IPs doing well will mean we see more and probably some more ignored IPs will have a chance to shine again. The premise has potential but I'm worried on how much they have shown compared to splatoon which had TONS of before the game is out. Outside of a few matches they seem to be a little hush hush about the game. People are passing hype and going into the doubting stage.
>2+ million
This is adorable
>Game already confirmed for a bunch of characters (10 confirmed from the direct)
>You can play the game with or without motion controls
>Game already shows to have different modes with 4 player and training stages
>Each arm weapon has its own property and can inflict different status effect and punch differently showing the game has depth
What more do you fags want?
I sort of feel this way too. The arms characters are so much more iconic
>People are passing hype and going into the doubting stage.
The game comes out in like 3 months. Do you have ADHD or something?
>only game available on the switch
>thinking you have a choice in not buying this
like everyone owns a switch but no games to play on it
Core gameplay doesn't look too stellar, I don't think I could sink 60-70 hours like I did in Splatoon
Bells and whistles on a mediocre gameplay concept only do so much
they want it to not be a nintendo game. if this was a ubisoft game, these fags would be drooling over "muh multiplayer possibilities"
>it won't be as big as splatoon
>if it can match splatoon
>splatoon splatoon splatoon
it doesn't need to compete with splatoon, they're coming out at close times but I am sure a lot of people (including myself) will buy and play both, its like saying arms can't compete with mario odyssey or zelda, yea no shit. its a newer ip, its less of a safe purchase for consumers, why would it sell more than an older ip with an already cemented fanbase?
Multiplayer games by default have a higher rate of success. If something as niche as Pikmin can sell 1.5+ million on the WiiU, then ARMS is fine.
It's also a game early in the console's like which means that an ARMS Switch bundle WILL happen
Round 2
you're right. everybody is comparing this game to overwatch and splatoon when it isn't like those games at all
That's not pandering, user.
Pikmin doesn't really sell, either. It does well enough for itself, but not any crazy good sales.
>Running around pointing a crosshair at the floor is better then fast paced boxing
fucking kek why is Sup Forums always btfo ? these people can't predict anything correctly
It has never sold under a million despite only ever getting games on flop hardware.
kekekekekek
I'm getting it instead of Splatoon. It looks better to me. Also those yellow joycon look fucking sick
It isn't black and white. It's not either "Super massive success like Splatoon" or into the trash can zero sales. ARMS will do decently, enough to profit given the relatively low budget. I think it will do around 1.5-2 million lifetime sales which is fine. Remember a large part of why they're making this is to have more online games so they get people to buy into their online system. It's no coincidence that the next 3 games coming out are all online games. They want people buying into the Nintendo network.
This. ARMS is the kind of thing I play games for. It's fresh as fuck looking
I think i see too many arms threads for the level of interest the game should reasonably be getting on Sup Forums
Better tone it down or people will catch on to your game, shill.
