And its only because Tails was such a mary sue his emerald was that damn good that Sonic could do this.
If anything the only time Sonic was too much of a mary sue was the final fight in Sonic battle, where he reveals he's been holding back in literally every fight ever to not kill people and has a fight with Emerl with all his and everyone elses powers and all 7 emeralds and beats him to death faster than the other characters could even perceive it happening
But that game also had Shadow using full Chaos powers with 0 emeralds so I don't think its all that canon

Both Sonic and Eggman would have fucked up in the same way and then more on top. For Tails that was an exception to his normal behaviour

Tails is slower than Sonic in a lot of games though, at least when they play in the same kind of stages it seems to be Sonic>Knuckles>Tails. When they're in different stages you get wonky stuff like SA2 Knuckles being faster than Sonic though.

He left them on during it though. He just has a scene where he gives over the last emerald and basically goes ''didn't need them lol let's fight'' and proceeds to use all his chaos moves he was using the emerald for withou it.
Emerl can also use them all with 0 emeralds with no issue

Fucking Sonic Battle. I'm still mad that wasn't a Super Sonic fight, would've been perfect. Instead Sonic just whipped the ass of a robot that destroyed a group of stars off in the distance with a single blast, by himself, WITHOUT CHAOS EMERALDS WHICH EMERL HAD. What the actual fuck, not even a master emerald asspull, just straight up whipped Emerl's ass.

The fact that Tails developed a fake emerald with properties and energy near that of an actual emerald is alarming. He can manufacture that sort of power.
How has it never occurred to Eggman to try doing the same? What if every robot he built was powered by its own synthetic chaos emerald?

Sonic Battle had pretty good writing by Sonic standards otherwise, but this is a thing that actually happened, undermining every other character in the sonic universe by putting them so far below Sonic he's shown to be greater than all of them put together with a chaos emerads while he has none

While it was an asspull I kinda liked it because Emerl while a likeable character was just kind of silly at that point, being so far above everything else in the sonic verse in power, that killing him with BS felt like something he had coming

Biolizard was based on the same mural, but copying Perfect Chaos instead. My guess is that the alien DNA just gave Gerald more flexibility to rework the design.

It made sense though, since the fake emerald had the same properties as a real emerald, you could pull it off. He had already seen Shadow do it, so he knew how to perform it.
That scene was perfectly set up and you can even see in the follow up that he wasn't able to perform it too correctly as he ends up with knuckles and all dizzy.
