Favorite non-GTA sandbox game?
The least shitty one would be GTA5, even if it still sucks.
GTA 2, hands down
GTA5 because you don't have those fucking terrorists/hurricanes blocking you from exploring full map from the start
favorite - Bully
least favorite - mad max
GTA IV because of the AI and animations
>fav
3. The only one I've finished. Perfect sized world. Nice setting. Actually fresh at the time.
>worst
4. Barely worked on any platform I tried to play it on. Every element was worse with the fun sucked out.
>best non GTA
I try to avoid them, but I'm enjoying Yakuzs 0 lately.
5 is the best but it also has the worst radio stations out of all. There's no good radio stations aside from the rock station, and the talk stations that were known for being funny are completely dry and uninspired.
I wonder who was in charge of the radio stations because it feels like they tried too hard to push unknown artists instead of adding songs that are memorable. San Andreas has the best radio stations because every station has well known songs that are good.
SIMPSONS HIT AND RUN BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
SA>IV>VC>III>V>CW>II>I
The objectively correct, factual list.
>Favourite - Vice City
The whole setting, the story, the characters, the music. Literally a youth defining game.
>Least Favourite - GTA V
The whole formula is tired at this point, awful story, bland characters, disappointing multiplayer. A massive disappointment more than anything.
>Favorite non-GTA sandbox game?
I really loved Sleeping Dogs but Mercenaries was pure gold.
""unkown artists""
>Queen
>Rihanna
>lady gaga
>former NWA crew
>snoop dogg
>Kendrick Lamar
>Eddie Murphy
>that one song from the "to be continued" wembs
>chain gang
do you even listen to actual radio?
fun fact, the guys that made this would later work on prototype 1
Yeah one song each out of hundreds of other songs full of artists nobody could give 2 shits about.
I don't know how you can compare the first two with the rest, they were fucking brilliant at the time but obviously won't compare now.
IV because I like the storymode better than 5. The shooting is boring in 5 because of health mechanics. IV is just better at making a "game" out of it with managing heapth/armor etc. In 5 it just feels like another chore before the camera takes control away and tells you what to do next
Favorites are LCS and IV
LCS
>similar to III but largely improved upon, more content in general
>fun, arcadey action
IV
>gritty crime thriller story
>weapons have weight, all of them fill niches and are loud as fuck so it actually feels like you're shooting a guy
>car handling is a little weird but great at the same time
>characters are all good outside of stupid caricatures like nikos fag friend
>urban sprawl is a fun setting, crowded alleyways and foot chases with cops
Least favorite is V (inb4 contrarian meme)
>story is abysmal and makes Fallout 4 look like theology literature
>guns are largely the same outside of whether it shoots explosions or bullets and the clip size
>characters are all awful, I found myself playing GTAO just to play as someone other than a cuhrayzee junkie or a bland black guy or a whiny cuckold
>online is one big happy merchant conglomerate
>wanted levels dumbed down to shit
>pedestrian health is now 1 bullet to foot = brain death in seconds
Favorite sandbox is probably stalker if that counts
My favourite saga. I have lots of fond memories.
>2
I remember watching my older brother play it, I will never forget that mission where you kidnap people on a bus and turn them into hot dogs.
>3
Since my brother loved 2 he bought this one, and he even let me play it. I loved it since the first minute, the Kuruma being similar to my dads car helped.
I remember drawing lots of Kurumas and painting them silver just like my dads car.
I loved Claude (even cosplayed as him in my edgy teen years).
>VC
first one I bought. Second hand. I remember saving a lot of money for it. My brother picked me up from the mall, I jumped into his car, big smile on my face, and he trolled me and told me that second hand games dont work and that I was scammed. Needless to say, the game did work, still works to this day, and we both love the game.
>SA
My brother ordered it online and it came earlier than the official release date. I was never a fan of the rapper thing, but I played this game for countless hours, fooling around in the local multiplayer was great.
V is probably the least amount of hours I've put into a GTA game. After finishing the (shit) story I had no desire to explore or push towards 100% completion.
>favorite
San Andreas, it was the first M game my parents let me play (god only knows why).
I also grey up in LA so it was fun to fuck shit up in my home town.
>least favorite
IV, I hate Jew York as a setting.
>favorite
Either VC or 4, because I like more realistic and gritty atmosphere. I only beat V once, so I'm not sure about it.
>least favorite
London 1961- it's unplayable. 2, but only because I never really gave it a chance
>non-GTA sandbox
Hard to say, GTA is the undisputed king of the genre and everything just pales in comparision
Favorite-Gta San Andreas
Least favorite-Gta 4
I feel like 5 was a step backwards from 4. The world in 4 felt much more dense, the police weren't fucking Terminators, the people weren't apt to punch you for looking at them for more than 5 seconds, and the physics were better.
4 also had the better radio stations
>tfw no Journey successor in 5.
cont
>IV
Once again it was my brother who bought it, since I didnt have money to get a ps3/360 and, well, he did. He didnt like it and it was the last one he played, but I loved the story, characters and the vehicles (loved all those old sedans).
>BOGT-LAD
great additions imo, that little tank was neat, BOGT was really funny and LAD's story was great.
>Chinatown Wars
A nice return to the classic camera angle (sort of). I loved my old DS so I played this one a lot.
>V
It was the first one I bought as a working man, I actually took a free day from work, drove to the store half an hour before they opened, bought the thing and then drove as quickly as I could back home. I enjoyed the return to freedom, the desert parts of the map, the three characters thing (I loved Michael), and the early days of online.
I love them all, but if I had to pick a favourite it would be VC.
Chinatown Wars is my least favourite.
And Saints Row 2 is my favourite non GTA sandbox

Gta 4. The physics are fun as hell to mess with, the atmosphere of the game is amazing to the point where I could spend hours just walking around on foot in the streets and it has the best gun fight mechanics in the whole series
>worst
Gta 5. It feels so soulless conpared to the rest of the series and they even got rid of the awesome physics that made Gta 4 fun. All the characters are uninteresting, the multiplayer is a boring grind fest and the police keep you from having any fun.
I played San Andreas the most but I think I enjoy Vice City and BoGT more. San Andreas is mostly nostalgia for me and I love replaying it from the beginning but then I experience a huge dip in fun factor from the time I leave Grove Street up until I go to San Fierro. My least favorite is probably Vice City Stories since I don't remember a thing about it. Yakuza and inFamous 1/2 are pretty great, haven't tried Second Son. Saints Row 2 is also GOAT and I like it more than most GTAs.
>its a wiggers insist San Andreas is good episode
I liked Bernie quite a lot actually; I found him very interesting because he is essentially Niko's foil: both endured the same atrocities and betrayals in their home countries, but unlike Niko, who only sank deeper into his self-hatred and depression and chased something that still would have never made him happy because he would still have been the same husk of a man afterwards, as he later finds out, Bernie was actually able to move on and make a better life for himself by moving to America, becoming a fitness trainer, and starting a relationship with Bryce Harper or whatever his name was. He's not "Florian Cravic" anymore, he's "Bernie," because he was able to put his past behind him, optimistically look to the future, and ultimately, be happy with who he is. Niko is so resistant to change that he's rendered in disbelief when he finds that Roman has forgotten their original language and opted to speak English instead. Bernie, barring the homosexuality, is what Roman wanted Niko to be all along, and tried to foster in Niko by staying by his side and getting him to have fun with family and friends in America, and his efforts fail. With the added side effect of either Roman or Kate dying in the process. It's part of the reason why the ending is so melancholy.
not to mention Johnny Cash, Cat Stevens, Alan Parsons Project, and many other
and what's wrong with having less-known artists?
Also, to add to the whole "name" thing, Niko's resistance to change and "moving on" is also symbolized by his insistence on calling Bernie "Florian" even after Bernie asked him multiple times to do otherwise. It's only after Niko spares Darko Brevic, and is finally able to put at least some of his past behind him, when he calls Bernie "Bernie" in the phone call that follows, and makes a promise to hang out and have fun, something which he never wanted to do with Bernie prior, since he never saw the point. You see the changes in Niko's character through Bernie, and this is basically why I found the dynamic between the two very interesting to watch.
What is self radio
How old was your brother during gta 3 and vc period? And how old were you?
I love childhood/teen nostalgic videogame stories about the old good times.
Vice city because it's memorable. Sam Andreas was objectively a better game though. GTA 4 KILLED the franchise for me. Literally too much focus on muh realism and muh mundane details. Sucked the fun right out. Simpsons hit and run. I have shit taste but God damn evil Homer...
GTA San Andreas, felt so big at the time and it still give me more fun than any other GTA. I just recently discovered the joys of bmx jumping accros town and avoiding 3 stars police block roads.
Where does this GTA SA was about rappers shit come from. There is like two rappers in the game they're side characters.
What is love?
Favourite - 4
Least favourite - 3
Favourite non-GTA - Far cry 2
My brother was 17 when 3 was released, and 19 when I bought VC.
I was 10 and 12.
Writing that post I realized how much I love the saga, and how much I love my brother even if hes a normie and we are very different
You are right. I meant gangsta, boys from the hood, that kind of thing. My favourite parts of the game were of course weird, old, white men like Toreno and the Truth
CJ's VA was a rapper, Ryder was based off of Eazy-E, and the story of San Andreas was inspired fairly heavily by early '90's West Coast hip hop culture
Your brother is a normie? How so?
Is he a chad, nerd, regular guy? What makes him a normie?

SA. I kinda wished they'd bring the stat systems from this one into Online, it would work best there. So much for that nonsense.

IV. I used to like it but since going back to replay it because of contrarians I saw a couple of issues that even V would fix.
>non-GTA favorite
Probably Saints Row 2. I wish people would make more sandbox games like GTA.
Vice City. I like 80s theme.
IV. Really boring.
Yakuza i guess but i'm not really into open-world games.

Chinatown Wars. Super comfy and I really like Huang as a protagonist. Drug dealing was fun too.

GTA V. I don't even know exactly why, I just didn't have as much fun with it as the others.
