I don't care if you believe me. I have a dual xeon build with two CPUs worth >1k each, 64 GB of ECC RAM, a server mainboard/case, 8 hard drives, a $500 PCI-express intel SAS card to attach them all, multiple SSDs as cache, a $1500 4K IPS display, etc. Heck even my keyboard is a $400 split ergodox with individually-shaped PBT caps and customized firmware for my liking.
The PS4 is more fun.

you could just get a HTPC, something like that Corsair bulldog, and exclusively use it in your living room, and keep its function to that similar to a console.
i agree with your overall sentiment, though. although when it comes to FPS, and really and competitive game that requires concentration, i prefer being sat upright in front of my computer monitor.
