and are still worth playing today? Besides the obvious Zeldas and Marios and Bandicoots
What are the NES/SNES/PS1/N64 games that didn't age badly?

first post time to clarify "aging" doesn't mean the game is mystically worse just because it came out then, it means the game wasn't good in the first place and it's only now after being exposed to many games and many good games that their flaws are shown in clear light
phew! go play Another World, that game is like wine. and
Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Super Mario World.
>what are games from every console released before 1997 that didn't age badly
go back to school kid
Other than terrible loading seam issues, Strider for the NES is just as good today as it was back then.
>inb4 games don't age
Most Final Fantasy games are still playable if you like JRPGs. I'd also say Spyro aged better than Crash.
Kickle Cubicle
Gimmick
Septentrion
Spyro didn't. Has some slippery controls and a nasty camera.
Redpill me on Another World and why people think it is such a great game.
>Spyro didn't. Has some slippery controls and a nasty camera.
I honestly replayed it last year and felt the exact opposite, I thought the controls were tight and the camera was fine.
Camera is fine if you change it to active mode.
'Gimmick' looks cool

tl;dr: It was the first game to make an action game that really nails the feel of a film, and it was smart and simple enough to do it all without any button prompts, tutorials, or dialogue.
Define Aging.
Thanks for the link.
I recently finished the 20th Anniversary Edition and couldn't quite understand the praise. I didn't like the art style and story in particular. It may very well be an influential game, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else desu. Please no bully.
>I didn't like the art style
I bet you played with the new graphics on
I hate this meme.
You know what the definition is; you're just trying to be a "games don't age" shitposter.
Correct, but I'm not a fan of the original either. It does look a little better though. I'm sorry user.
Sim city on snes
Rick on genesis
Rad racer on nes
Castlevania 1 on nes
Castlevania 4 on snes
This game feels like it could have been released today as an indie game.
A game has aged if the genre of the game has evolved a lot since its release.
SMB1 hasn't aged badly because the core concepts of 2D platforms havenĀ“t been improved on substantially since its release.
Goldeneye has aged badly because shooters on consoles have gone through a lot of changes since its release, mostly due to Halo.
I know everyone already knows this and I'm just feeding trolls, but whatever.
What about Ninja Gaiden trilogy on NES?
mega man
mega man 2
mega man 3
mega man 4
mega man 5
mega man 6
I really liked castlevania 3 when I played it in 2015, and also have no idea why people don't talk about wild guns on the SNES more, the most fun I got out of a SNES game in years
Most console RPGs that were actually good at release have held up well because the great ones were genre/franchise defining. Genealogy of the Holy War is 21 years old, but is still considered one of the best Fire Emblems because it introduced a lot of what the franchise is known for.
