At least the PC version has unofficial patches that work great and don't break the game even more.
James Jones
>Not telling you how to save your game It tells you multiple times and there's constant reminders about how there's no autosave and you need to do it manually. For fuck's sake it's even the first message you get when you start the game.
Cooper White
>First I've ever heard of that.
You can buy trophies/achievements from the tutorial person in the resistance camp after you clear ending C or D.

I can't believe you idiots responded to this wack-ass bait thread, there's already like 5 other Nier threads on the catalog so you have no excuse.

I enjoyed Automata. But it is, without a doubt, the most overrated game ever on Sup Forums. More overrated than the Witcher 3. The only legitimately GOOD things about the game were the themes and the music. Everything else was mediocre or bad.
Christopher Bailey
What's the problem?
Charles Nguyen
Not the same user, but hear me out. I've never advocated for autosave in my life but this game doesn't really benefit at all from not having it just allows you to savescum more easily.

I beat Nier Automata on Hard mode and the addition of an autosave feature would have made it a better game.
Ethan Roberts
>Complaining about a game being hard on Very Hard mode You could just go back to Hard you know? VH is clearly just autistic mode.
Jason Wilson
Only the last one is an issue. Why do you give a fuck that other people can buy trophies? Don't buy them since you don't need to. Just save manually.
Aaron Sullivan
Are you retarded? I played on Hard mode. I completed the prologue on Normal because I didn't feel like redoing the same shit over and over just to have to dodge a single bullet at the very end. I played the entire rest of the game on Hard mode, doing every single quest, and died less than 20 times.
You would have to be an absolute fucking idiot to think that the addition of an autosave would be a bad thing. It's more convenient than needing to pause, go into my save menu, and manually pick out a slot to save in every 20 minutes.
Evan Baker
Oh sorry I read Very Hard mode for some reason.
>It's more convenient than needing to pause, go into my save menu, and manually pick out a slot to save in every 20 minutes. What? You could've used quick save you know? It takes less than a second, you don't even need to wait for the game to state that it saved before prompting out of the menu. Literally just options>Press X twice>options
Chase Jackson
>using quicksave when it just overwrites the same save slot over and over >thinking I'm going to risk losing my progress if I run into a bug

NIgga what?
>Unskippable cutscenes/dialogue Straight up lie, someone died twice in the prologue and came to Sup Forums to complain >Not telling you how to save your game because "hurdur we're gon b different from other games xd" Again what? Save at those boxes or in the menu? Was that so fucking hard? How do you play games without looking at your menu before you get far into it? Oh you didn't cus you died on prologue twice and blamed the game for being shit >Can literally purchase trophies who the fuck plays for trophies anyway? >Ignores PC entirely, not releasing an official patch for months Im playing on PC with M+Keyboard right now and it works fine, shooter areas a re a little awkward but the games not that hard
Jesus fuck man i hope this is bait
Mason Davis

Jackson Bennett
And how the fuck does autosave help? It would just fuck you over with no chance to fix it.
Eli Flores
I played the same way, Normal prologue and then switched to Hard since Normal seemed to be too easy. Did you miss the quick save option or what? You don't need to pick out a slot, you sure you finished the game? You open the menu and hit Quick Save on the default screen it opens, or just walk to an access point and quick save from there.
The way I played was that I'd use one of the slots as a "backup" in case I ever needed to go back and then just use quick save on another. I made a backup every time I started playing, though I never needed one.
Jonathan Sanchez
Did it ever occur that some games can actually benefit from autosave (or lack thereof) while others don't, you dumbass? In this case, the game doesn't benefit in any way whatsoever from having no autosave, so clearly it was the wrong decision here.
Gavin Long
>implying autosave needs to be in the same slots as regular saves
I used quicksave occasionally, but there was no reason for me to use only one save slot. I rotated between all three in case I ran into a game-ending bug and needed to load from an older point.
>but there are no game-ending bugs!
There was at least one game-ending bug on PC release related to a load error at the desert camp.
Mason Bell
In damn near every modern game autosave creates a new slot every time it saves
Ryan Thompson
>buying trophies But I plat'd it in 70 hours while taking my sweet fucking time and enjoying the game doing whatever I wanted. No reason to ever buy them.

Wyatt Gray
Did Taro ever confirm he received the ZIP?
I need need images of him talking about it's 2cute.
Luke Martin
>Not telling you how to save your game I just played the first level. It just says "Hey, this game doesn't autosave". Then literally the first time you CAN save, it says "You can save now" in the corner.
Joseph Bennett
How the fuck do you savescum in a game which only lets you save in specific areas?
Aaron Robinson
What the fuck does that change? If you die too many times or use too many supplies between your last save you can just reload and get it all back. If the game had autosave like it should, this problem would be eliminated.
Ian Walker
>>Ignores PC entirely, not releasing an official patch for months I had to double check that i wasn't lost in a timestream incident.
Owen Watson
>374188551 >Unskippable cutscenes/dialogue you can skip them. >Not telling you how to save your game because "hurdur we're gon b different from other games xd" you can't figure something basic out on your own? have you never played a video game in your life? also when you're in areas beyond the saving "pods" you can save and it literally tells you on the screen the entire time. >Can literally purchase trophies kind of novel and takes the piss out of trophies >Ignores PC entirely, not releasing an official patch for months it hasn't been out for months and who gives a shit about PC gamers anyways it was a console game port.
Brody Myers
What a shit post OP
Brandon Hernandez
What does dying too many times even mean? There's no stacking death penalty there's no difference between dying 5 or 10 times. Supplies are cheap as all fuck and available at every shop, there's no sense to "savescumming" for supplies which are incredibly plentiful in the first place. You never lack supplies and can carry 99 of each at a time, you never run out.
Also how would autosave eliminate the "problem" when you can reload one of the manual save slots anyway? Even if they removed manual saving - which would make 0 sense since the save mechanism is pretty much integrated into the in-game lore and logic - you could still manually back up your saves on PC or use the backup feature on console. So again, how would that actually solve your imaginary problem?
Tyler Jackson
>Also how would autosave eliminate the "problem" when you can reload one of the manual save slots anyway?
That's the problem, you fucking dunce. If the game had autosave, it wouldn't need manual save slots. Imagine if you could just reload a save every time you lost your shit in a Dark Souls game. It's the exact same situation here. Some games benefit from autosave while others don't. Get over it.
Jackson Russell
>specific areas you can nearly anywhere, the save areas are huge and if you arent in one all you have to do is run a few seconds to one
Lincoln Roberts
>That's the problem, you fucking dunce. If the game had autosave, it wouldn't need manual save slots. You can back up your autosave outside of the game anyway you inane retard. You can go back to whichever backed up autosave you want. If you're so hell-bent on not losing resources there's nothing the game can do to stop you.
Gabriel Williams
Its ok because there are many more redeeming qualities, but no since you pointed out some flaws I guess the ENTIRE GAME is shit even though you didn't criticize the gameplay at all.
Daniel Thomas
>You can back up your autosave outside of the game anyway you inane retard
So why make it even easier? Just because a problem is insolvable doesn't mean preventive measures shouldn't be taken. And as for supplies already being plentiful enough, why the fuck make it even easier then?
Jackson Thompson
>So why make it even easier? Just because a problem is insolvable doesn't mean preventive measures shouldn't be taken. It's stupid game design to build your game's difficulty around a mechanic which can be circumvented by the player using his platforms built-in features. Rather than trying to ineffectively prevent players from returning to a previously saved state, which is impossible, you might as well allow manual saves and build your difficulty by keeping in mind that the player always has the option to give up progress in order to revert to an earlier state. You DO have control of when the game/player can save, you DO NOT have control when the player wishes to load older saves. Build the game around what you can control instead of what you cannot. >And as for supplies already being plentiful enough, why the fuck make it even easier then? "Easier" sure, but not to any actually significant degree. That's like saying lifting a sheet of paper is "easier" than lifting 10 sheets at a time, technically correct but the practical effort is actually the same. There's no reason to reload saves in Automata because you used consumables, they're too cheap to be worth it. It's arguably worse to lose progress in order to save consumables, it doesn't make sense since they're too easily obtainable. If you just beat a segment by using a lot of consumables you very likely put more effort into beating the segment than you will into buying new consumables.
Isaac Turner
>the most overrated game on Sup Forums
You're either brand-spankin-new, fresh from reddit, or underage and you've only played ten games in your life. There are games that are way more overrated than Automata is.

Gabriel Lopez
It's a literal 30 second sprint to the nearest save box from any point on the map. Just admit that you're shit already and that's why saving is such a chore for you; because you have to do it after every enemy encounter.
Dylan Long
>retard who can't read that I died less than 20 times in the entire game while experiencing everything the game has to offer thinks he can talk shit
I shouldn't have to specifically go save in a game that can easily offer me an autosave. Nothing you say will change this.

Just started this. Got to the 1st area resistance camp, game had a hiccup and afterwards the screen was white. Searching for it seems to be AMD related but I'm Nvidia.
Closed and restarted, no problems afterwards but I'm reading it might happen again if I change areas. Anyone with more specific info?
Connor Flores
I think if you're on a 780 there's no real fix for this, but I haven't paid attention in a while
Eli Morales
Yes, actually. The white screens are apparently caused by the graphics driver crashing and restarting. The game doesn't know how to handle that and fucks up, so you get the white screen issue. It seems to happen on AMD unless the driver is some old version and I believe on NVIDIA if you're on older cards (Kepler maybe?). If you're on fairly new NVIDIA cards, you shouldn't really be getting them. If you are, I'd try to check why it's happening, maybe your graphics card is OC'd too far or something.
I'm on Pascal and only got 2 random white screen crashes in 103h (according to Steam, 80 on the save). I did get the game to fuck up on alt-tab a few times, I think it doesn't like it while loading or something, so don't touch it if you're not in-game proper.
Charles Clark
On a 1070 actually. Apart from 4x instead of 8x antialiasing everything else is on max and the performance with FAR is almost flawless so no real problems apart from what happened there. So I'd be nice to know whats causing it and if I can tweak some settings to avoid it.
Should I use Borderless gaming and play on windowed? Said hiccup also caused the game to run on borderless window along with white screen and I also noticed it going to said B.window if I choose to not apply any setting on screen options.
Or maybe I'm just pushing it with everything on max?
Jayden Lewis
I'm on 1080 SLI, played the game at 4K and had no real issues as I've said, using FAR too. Is your 1070 OC'd at all? OC on Pascal is kind of unreliable-ish.
Gavin Perez
All of the hype about saving made me think it was going to be something unique.
They fucking tell you with menu text where to save after you pass the prologue, and it's at save stations like half the other games in existence.
Brayden Lewis
I don't think so. Only ever used Nvidia inspector just to check on temps and see other info, never tweaked anything on actual overclocking. MSI gaming 1070 so I think its powerful enough
Maybe other parts are bottlenecking me? i5 6500 8GB DDR4
But then I think I'd just have fps drops, not crashes or anything. And I also see now that there's driver updates for the GPU I haven't done, might be that. Wont know until I play more I guess.
Joseph Martin
It's actually just to increase your immersion. It's a game mechanic that works exactly like the game world works. These kind of things matter, but too many games are just about le streamlined mechanics and muh qol.
Lucas Lopez
Why do people make threads about games they haven't played?
Logan Sullivan
Shouldn't really have issues then, the game was overall very stable for me and my cards are actually OC'd too. I'm on driver 378.66, by reading forums it looks like the latest W10 update and NVIDIA driver caused shitloads of issues all over the place, maybe it's that if you're on W10 Creator's Update.
Christian Ortiz
>Sup Forums >playing videogames Look at him and laugh
Ryder Powell
On Win7. And not even 4K. Man this is frustrating, now I'm too scared to keep playing if its gonna randomly crash and give me white screen again afterwards, especially since saving need to be done manually and I could lose a ton of progress.
Kayden Lewis
Don't play at that resolution you're stretching cutscenes and messing up your gameplay FOV.
Thomas Smith
No use not playing because of a problem which might not even happen. You get plenty of opportunities to save, just save often and play the game.
FoV (camera distance) is configurable in-game IIRC.
Austin Mitchell
>itt: dumb PCbros
Gabriel Lee
Yeah, like the first Nier.
Julian Robinson
The only thing I don't like about the game is if I try to modify any video settings (resolution, AA, etc) the game immediately crashes.
Dylan Anderson
>FoV (camera distance) is configurable in-game IIRC. It's only camera distance, not FOV. The UI/HUD stuff is getting stretched too. I think you can control FOV with a CE script though.
Aiden Hill
Is there any real difference between camera distance and FoV in a 3rd person game? Increasing FoV makes the visible cone of the world wider and taller, moving the camera further back does exactly the same thing. What's the difference exactly? Note that AR of the HUD and shit like that doesn't depend on FoV, FoV is about the in-game camera not whatever else gets drawn on top of the rendered game, like the HUD.
Jaxon Phillips
That's a really dumb question but I'm not smart enough to straighten you out. But yes, there's a huge difference.
And the AR stretches the HUD, FMVs, and lowers the game FOV.
Anthony Cox
How the shit is it a dumb question if you can't even tell me what the difference is? You don't have to explain anything technical, just tell me what difference each setting would make in terms of what you see on the screen in a 3rd person game.
What happens to the image if you pull the camera back? What happens to the image if you increase FoV?
Luis Nguyen
Camera distance is camera distance, how far you are from the thing. So back away from your computer, same thing. FOV is completely different, you need to adjust a lens or FOV settings to understand what it does but if you increase FOV you get a fish eye effect and if you lower it you zoom in.
It's a really dumb question but I didn't take photography in school so I don't know the terms to explain the concept.
Hunter Clark
>What happens to the image if you pull the camera back? The camera moves back. >What happens to the image if you increase FoV? The same thing that would happen if you increased the FoV in a first-person game.
Play a game with third-person mode, and customisable FoV; you'll feel very stupid afterwards.
Joshua Jenkins
Actually now that I think about it you're right, I'm fucking retarded.
Jaxson Turner
Setting it to 1080 still stretches it. If I knew how to un-stretch it I'd be fine with black bars on top and bottom.
Parker Smith
Most of the cutscenes are skippable No autosave is a good mechanic, git gud
David Nelson
FAR could do that but it looks like it's bugged right now, in dxgi.ini set Scaling=Unspecified to Centered Worked before, maybe try that.
Or just play in windowed mode.
And at 1200p you're getting lower FOV because developers don't know what they're doing.
Gabriel Jenkins
...
Adrian Scott
>And at 1200p you're getting lower FOV because developers don't know what they're doing. So instead of scaling Vert+ it scales Hor- I guess, typical of games not made with multiple resolutions in mind. The effect won't be the same but it can somewhat be counteracted with a slight increase in camera distance, as in you can get rid of the "zoomed in" feeling of low FoV if it's bothersome.
Fucking with scaling options in the graphics drivers may or may not help in terms of getting a centered 1920x1080 image with black bars on top/bottom too.
Thomas Ward
>Scaling=Unspecified to Centered Worked, thanks user. Though now borderless gaming is streching it back so I gotta go fullscreen. Is there any way to tell borderless gaming to not stretch res?
Kevin Jenkins
>Fucking with scaling options in the graphics drivers may or may not help in terms of getting a centered 1920x1080 image with black bars on top/bottom too. Yeah doesn't help with this game.
Don't use it? Also keep in mind FAR has been giving me an error with that scaling tweak when I launch the game so if you get that just delete the .ini and try again.
Dominic Sullivan
>Just got Ending D tonight >Bail out of Route E to see what the other choice in Ending D does >Game crashes at Ending D screen
First crash I had in the game... hope it didn't fuck with anything.
Gabriel Thompson
>Should I use Borderless gaming and play on windowed?
You can just run it in borderless windowed with FAR though.
Connor Gray
